About
Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

Reviews
Personal Rating: Very Positive (90%) Probably the most difficult city-builder that I own, and I like it. You are given this central city in the middle of frozen nowhere that you need to keep afloat - and that's DEFINITELY better said than done, because you have to think about habitations, food, temperature, research and otber stuff that complicates your life. The main thing is the Weather. From my observations, it will rarely get better by temps, and only get worse as time progresses. You better keep the city warm, otherwise say goodbye to your workforce! Aside from the obvious city survival building, you need to be aware not to anger too many factions in your city - There are some pretty deep political mechanics. In order to pass a law, you need the majority of the Council to vote for it. You can negotiate with the factions to vote for a law. But if you screw the negotiations like me, you just made your situation a lot worse. Performance-wise, it's anywhere between 30 and 60 FPS on High settings, but this is a city-builder, so I don't mind that much. And you can take a really close look into the city. As a Cities: Skylines enjoyer, I can say that if you REALLY want a challenge even on the easiest difficulty, this is a game purely made for you.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Sorry to say this, but I can't get into this game at all. I loved Frostpunk 1; it's the greatest city-builder-like game ever. This sequel took all the mechanics of the first one and promptly threw them out in favor of feeling like a mobile game. I preordered this game and was so let down instantly. I understand that they wanted to expand the scale of the lore so you're commanding not just a couple hundred people, but to do that they removed the mechanics that made you feel like you're building a city. Instead, you just feel like you're clicking on hexagons that represent a handful of buildings. I hate the district mechanic completely; it's not fun, engaging, or innovating upon the previous game. I don't feel the scale of thousands of little people living in the city; it's just boring. The resource gathering doesn't feel impactful at all, nor does actually using the resources. Assigning workers doesn't have as much strategy. I didn't get to see what the citizen representatives were like or researching stuff because I was so put off by the major gameplay changes. Super disappointed. I hope the new Frostpunk 1886 goes back to what made the first game great and not this.
