About

Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

Reviews
First Frostpunk game I played and it's amazing. UI is simple and intuitive. The story functions as a kind of tutorial and introduces everything you need to play the Utopia mode. The game itself is beautiful. Large part of the game revolves around navigating demands from various political fractions of the city while maintaining delicate balance of resources the city needs. At some point there will be a point where one group will try to ruin the city and then its up to the player to decide how to handle them. Overall assessment: sent kids to work in mines, exile the old from the town and enjoy.
Just plays this game, it is worth your money.
I'm not sure why people are giving it such a hard time lately. It's almost like an organized smear campaign. This game has been in my top 10 games for well over a year at this point. I've spent well over 50-60 gameplay hours on it. Yes, it is not Frostpunk 1. But you know what is? FROSTPUNK 1. Yes, the society functions seem less important. Yes, it seems low stakes. Yes, I miss the fact you jumped between different scenarios, but that is what the secondary functions are for. Faction wars is honestly funner than the actual campaign. And that's fine. It takes time to get used to the fact that it isn't the original game. You look for functions that don't exist. But it is still a fun game. Ya'll just need to get over it.
Cant even go past the tutorial because the it wont start frostbreaking. Buggy mess
I've made it about halfway through this game. I would very highly recommend the first Frostpunk, which is one of the best games I've ever played. If you played the first one and are curious about this, I'd recommend it if it's on sale, but I can't really recommend it at full price. Pros: Nice graphics, interesting changes to the gameplay of the original; is courageous in making changes to a winning formula instead of just rehashing the original. Cons: The first was an excellent city builder, but it also worked as an RPG. I would think seriously about how to respond to different situations, what the moral response would be when all the answers were wrong, and I would imagine how it would feel to live through the events of the game. The sequel drops much of the storytelling of the first. That's partly just because the scale is different: one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic. The first really made you care about what happened to individual citizens; for this, if a thousand die of toxic fumes, oh well, there are more where those came from. The design of the game, the story, and the narration just didn't build an emotional attachment the way the first did. I also liked the modular design of the first game - you could play through one of the scenarios in a weekend, then play another one a few weeks or months later, maybe at a higher difficulty level. In this one, there's a series of chapters in one longer narrative, which makes it harder to break up the game into bite-size pieces, and makes it harder to experiment with different difficulty levels and play styles. The first chapters were a bit too easy when I played on the Easy setting, but I didn't really want to turn the difficulty level up because I didn't know how much harder it was going to get, and I wanted to prepare for future events. With the first, you could challenge yourself with a higher difficulty level for one scenario without worrying about dooming yourself for later ones. I don't want to give this a negative review because it was engaging enough that I played for almost 20 hours, and I may still come back later to finish the game, but I also can't recommend it wholeheartedly when the first is still out there, with higher difficulty levels to try.
