About
A vast forest teeming with life, Noctful, has flourished for ages under the protection of mushroom magic-wielding elves. However, a deeply resentful oak has cursed and corrupted the forest. As a guardian elf, rally animal allies and use mushroom skills to defend your base and purify the forest!
Defend Your Base and Defeat the Boss
To purify the cursed forest and summon allies, you’ll need the “Mushtower” base. Protect it from the waves of incoming enemies. The enemies will keep coming until their boss is defeated. Use limited mana wisely to send animal allies against the foes and utilize skills to push back the front lines.
Grow Your Deck
Starting from daylight, through dusk, and into the night, enemies grow stronger. Our allies must also become stronger to secure victory. Obtain better animal cards and equip them with hats that provide enhancement effects. Elf skill cards and Artifacts are also crucial to your strategy for victory!
Simple Controls
This game can be played entirely with the keyboard. Use the QWER keys and arrow keys to navigate the battlefield and engage in combat. The same controls apply when selecting nodes and drafting cards.

Reviews
I enjoy playing this game on my steam deck winding down in bed quite a bit. Not a big fan of deck builders but this one is very enjoyable for me. Something about how simple this roguelike is has pulled me in and Im hooked.
Get repetitive later on, but fun overall.
IT IS AMAZING AND FUN
Forest Heroes is a charming yet strategically demanding indie title that successfully merges tower defense fundamentals with roguelike deck-building mechanics into a cohesive and replayable experience. Developed and published by Hoochoo Game Studios, the game disguises its depth beneath a colorful, friendly presentation, gradually revealing a surprisingly complex tactical core that rewards careful planning, synergy building, and adaptability across repeated runs. The setting places players in a corrupted woodland where dark emotions and magical resentment have twisted once-peaceful creatures into hostile forces. As the forest’s guardian, your role is to protect the central Mushtower from successive waves of enemies while slowly cleansing the land of its curse. While the narrative framing is light and understated, it provides enough context to support the gameplay loop without overwhelming it. The real storytelling emerges organically through mechanics—each failed or successful run becomes a tale of experimentation, refinement, and learning. At the heart of Forest Heroes is its hybrid gameplay loop. Unlike traditional tower defense games where structures are placed permanently on fixed lanes, Forest Heroes leans heavily into card-based decision making. Each run revolves around drafting and playing cards that summon animal allies, activate elf skills, or equip powerful artifacts. These cards define your defensive strategy, determining whether you rely on swarming units, burst damage abilities, sustained control effects, or carefully timed synergies. Because decks are built dynamically during a run, no two playthroughs unfold the same way. Combat unfolds across a cyclical day-to-night structure that steadily ramps up tension. Early waves offer breathing room to test card interactions and conserve resources, while later stages introduce denser enemy formations, tougher elites, and bosses designed to punish unfocused decks. Mana management becomes critical, forcing players to weigh short-term survival against long-term efficiency. Spending too aggressively early can leave you exposed later, while excessive caution risks being overwhelmed when the forest strikes back with full force. Progression is tightly bound to roguelike principles. Between encounters, players choose from randomized card rewards, relics, and passive bonuses that shape the direction of their build. This creates a constant push and pull between adapting to what the game offers and pursuing a coherent strategy. Some runs naturally evolve into fast-paced, summon-heavy defenses, while others reward slower, more methodical approaches centered on elite allies or stacking buffs. Mastery comes from recognizing which paths are viable under different circumstances rather than forcing a single preferred playstyle. Difficulty scales meaningfully as players unlock higher challenge modifiers. These introduce new enemy behaviors, environmental hazards, and mechanical twists that demand deeper understanding of the system. At higher levels, Forest Heroes becomes less forgiving, emphasizing precision and synergy over brute force. Randomness still plays a role, but success increasingly depends on making smart drafting choices and anticipating future threats, which gives experienced players a satisfying sense of growth and competence. Visually, the game adopts a clean and expressive 2D art style that prioritizes clarity. Units, effects, and enemies are easy to read even when the screen fills with activity, which is essential given the game’s reliance on quick tactical decisions. The whimsical aesthetic softens the intensity of the gameplay, making defeats feel instructive rather than punishing. Sound design and music reinforce this tone, offering gentle fantasy themes that support concentration rather than distracting from it. One of the game’s strongest qualities is its respect for player agency. Forest Heroes rarely forces a single solution, instead encouraging experimentation and creative problem solving. While certain card combinations are undeniably powerful, the game avoids locking success behind narrow meta strategies. This openness makes repeated runs engaging, as players are constantly discovering new interactions and refining their understanding of how different systems interlock. That said, the reliance on randomized card draws can occasionally lead to uneven runs, particularly for players still learning the game’s deeper mechanics. Some difficulty spikes may feel abrupt until the underlying systems are fully understood. However, these moments tend to reinforce the roguelike learning loop rather than undermine it, pushing players to adjust expectations and improve decision-making over time. Ultimately, Forest Heroes stands out as a thoughtful fusion of genres that respects both sides of its design heritage. It captures the immediate tactical satisfaction of tower defense while embracing the long-term strategic depth and replayability of deck-building roguelikes. For players who enjoy planning layered defenses, experimenting with synergies, and learning through repeated attempts, Forest Heroes offers a rewarding journey through a cursed forest where every card played carries real weight.
