Its an old ps2 game. Enjoy.
In 8 hours of "play time" i have spent nearly all of it just trying to make it work. Buggiest game ever.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is what you get when you take the original Star Wars, invert its SciFi-Fantasy Ratio, and mix it up with the most convinient classic FF game you can get. I think the focus for this game is gameplay: It is pretty much the last "classic" Final Fantasy game as I see it, its work real-time with the well-known ATB system, and it works well. The speedup option helps a lot too, and the gambit system is something that should be praised, and copied by all party-based RPGs. (No more braindead AI teammates hurrah!) The world and map design is very well done too, the interconnections and later unlocks all make the world feel a bit more real. And while the story is not too long, there is a lot be done even in post-game with the Hunt system. While it did a lot right, I would be lying if I said the game is perfect though. There are still grindy sidequesting to be done, lots of loading screens, and a few stinker enemy and dungeon designs, I'm mainly thinking about the second-to-last dungeon. (you know which one) If you like JRPGs, especially from the 2000s, this is an easy recommendation.
What the hell is up with the resolution? It's like the bottom screen lost two chunks of screen size making it irregular compared to the top screen. And with the new steam update, I can't fix it. What are you doing, Valve?
I don't care what anyone else says; this is peak Final Fantasy. This coming from someone who has grown up with the franchise, watching my older brothers playing older games in the series, later playing them myself, even playing through a few they haven't. I've played every numbered title, and loved most immensely. I didn't care for 8, 13, or 15. But this game... FF12 is fantastic. I will gladly die on this hill.
The game is different from what I normally play and it's my first step in the Final Fantasy franchise, but it's a game that really catch my heart, it feels like I'm back to early 2000s. A lot of players have trouble launching the game, and it's really disappointing that this is still happening in 2026. After reading discussions on the Steam Community and Reddit, and with a little help from ChatGPT, I found a solution. You can access this repository and click **"Standalone Version"** to download the `.zip` file. Extract it, then copy **`dinput8.dll`** and the **`config`** folder into the game's **`x64`** directory. This fixes the crash issue without requiring you to install any mod managers or other modding tools. It's a simple standalone solution that only replaces the game's memory allocator, so you can get the game running without setting up a full modding environment. 最終幻想6角色和自由選擇6+6職業設計很特別,雖然是多年前PS2 PSP時代的作品 但即時戰鬥和提早佈局類似巨集系統,練等和逛地圖很有趣
FFXII is very unique from other FF entries, the gambit system is almost perfect, and Ivalice is a huge world to explore. Trial mode is fun and helpful to get some strong equipments early. From my perspective, the major downside is the plot, Vaan and Penelo are just bystanders, even temporary characters have more depths than them.
This was the first FF I ever played, and strangely the last I ever beat because FF13 was so bad I never played another. The gambit system is really, really underrated and I wish more party based real time RPGs utilized it.
