It is a time of war. Galbadia, a Global Superpower, has declared war on Dollet, a country whose training academy is home to two personalities: the hot-headed Seifer and the 'lone wolf', Squall Leonhart. Both are equally at conflict with each other as their country is with Galbadia; to others, Squall appears lacking in team spirit, while...

Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

English version Final Fantasy VIII is the strangest game I've ever played. Not because it's bad. Not because it's the best. But because it does something much harder to explain it makes you fall in love with something that doesn't exist. The aesthetics are extraordinary. Pre-rendered backgrounds that still take your breath away today. A Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack that gets inside you and never leaves. A Junction System that, once understood, is one of the most free and deep combat systems ever built in an old-school JRPG. And moments few, precise, surgical of genuine emotional power that stay with you. It also has a story that feels like it was written by someone who was afraid to finish it. The witches exist without explanation. The Guardian Forces are the core of everything both story and gameplay yet we're never told where they come from, what they are, why they cause memory loss. Laguna Loire is the most interesting character in the game: a man torn between love and ambition, full of life, written with rare care. You find him at the end of the game as the sedentary president of a city nobody explains how he got there. Squall changes without a narrative arc he has a switch, not an evolution, the party is invisible. The most important revelation in the story that Laguna is Squall's father never gets a real scene. And then there's the ending the time compression Squall forgetting Rinoa's face in the moment he needs to remember her most the feather in the void, a mutual rescue that transcends the physical plane. Thirty minutes that show you what this game could have been all along. Final Fantasy VIII came out at ten percent of its potential. It's a beautiful world, tragically silent. A masterpiece that doesn't exist. And despite everything despite every missed opportunity I can't stop loving it.

11 on sale4 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 4 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 11 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Claims to support Dualshock 4. Does not actually natively support Dualshock 4
I've loved this game ever since I played it on Playstation when it had 4 disks. This is by far my favorite FF game. I really enjoyed FF10, FF15, FF7, and FF9, but FF8 holds a special place in my heart.
Don't listen to all the hate this game gets. It's still one of the best. Triple Triad, Music, GFs and a great story makes this game deserving of at least a playthrough. I do wish they fleshed out the story more and pretend the junction system is a bad dream.
This version is way better than the 2019 remaster. Just grab FFNX and the PS1 music mod for it, both are easy to install. FF8 is a good game. I play/replay it because it's comfy and the music is fantastic. You don't have to grind levels, just draw magic - which you can bypass with a card game. The story is cheesy: you have to remember that it's basically supposed to be a high school drama, and that the moments between Squall and Rinoa are supposed to be funny.
This game is underrated but deserves all ther hate it has gotten over the years by the broad fanbase and by JRPG lovers. The new Junction system is superb, in theory. I got completely lost ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with it for the 1st 8hours of the game after the 1st boss. To the extent, after the 1st boss, in Disc 1, I was strong enough to get through all the enemies until the bloody final dungeon 🤯🤯🤯. Story too for Part 1 and to the end is very good but part 2 and part 3, the story is 💩💩. TLDR: Overall 🍑/10, this game sucks and I wish we had more scenes with Seifer and he became a end game party member. Gameplay: The Junction system by itself is very fun and again, after the 1st boss, its possible to get late-game stats. This is very feesible by exploitig Triple Triad, the card game, to modify cards into items, weapons and magic to Junction. However AGAIN, this game has massive flaws. The junction system is not properly supported. You mainly want to use triple triad to get UBER broken except Triple Triad is the worst mini-game in the franchise. Too many rules like :

random
plus
same
elemental
make the card game too frustrating. I am fairly sure the achievement to get all cards is broken too because the ingame menu acknowledges I have obtained all the cards but the steam acheivement hasnt popped. Then finding all the Draw points for GREAT magic to junction to stats or knowing which enemy gives good magic is too frustrating. Another point I want to mention, the OST/music in this game was struggling to play throughout my entire playthrough. Very weird bug that is somehow not fixed. Story: Im not gonna lie, the story was really good for Disc 1 and the final dungeon but PArt 2 and Part 3 was so 💩. Exposition dumps, involving too many troupes and themes and including a story about
time travel and outer space
was just too much. This game really jumped the shark with the
space section specifically. Like games need to stop trying to be Chrono Trigger, no other game has managed to juggle time travel and space like that game.
And that section of its story which could have been removed and would make the story 300% better. Too many spices spoil the broth tier ♥♥♥♥. So:

Act 1 is 9/10
Act 2 is ok and is the longest act
Act 3 is 🍺 🤢🤮 tier( the ship is dope tho)
Act 4 at
ultima castle where you have to treasure hunt all the bosses
is soooo good
All in all, a terrible game but tbf it had a dev cycle of 2 years according to official Square Enix interviews. So if it had another year, many of these issues could have been ironed out. Story, I would just remove sections of the game and add more foreshadowing. Gameplay, I would add a feature to CHOOSE what rules I want for Triple Triad, add a Load save feature in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ingame menu. Remove the slot restrictions for magic for all the characters for the junction system and add more save slots. Massive difficulty spike sneeking in at the final dungeon omega weapon when every boss prior to him were pushovers and the final boss being tanky and choosing a random party member This game still sucks and honestly Seifer and Zell hard carried the game for me. Seifer best boi.
most misreable 100% ever but at least the game is good
Phobos approves this game¡ 7.0/10
Final Fantasy VIII
A to hry s kartičkama fakt moc nemusím. Ale tohle je jiné. V podstatě naprosto jednoduchá matika, ale vražedně efektivní kombinatorika. Tohle nebyla jen bezvýznamná hříčka. Pomocí schopnosti Card Mod od vyvolávacího strážce (Guardian Force) Quezacotla mohl hráč karty rozemlít na extrémně vzácné materiály a nejsilnější kouzla ve hře. Zkušení hráči díky tomu dokázali hru totálně „rozbít“ a získat ultimátní zbraně (jako Squallův Lionheart) hned na prvním disku, aniž by museli levelovat postavy. Geniální designový prvek. Každý region ve hře (Balamb, Dollet, Galbadia...) měl svá vlastní specifická pravidla (Open, Random, Same, Plus). Když hráč cestoval, pravidla z jednoho regionu mohl nevědomky „přenést“ a nakazit jimi jiný region, což často vedlo k brutálním kombinacím a infarktovým stavům.

ZDE!!!
