Such a good feeling game of taking care of your machine whilst traversing the challenging landscapes. The puzzles are good, the environment design is amazing and the music really compliments the feeling of pushing through any obstacles in your way. If you're like me who enjoyed games like Inside, you'll like this too! ^^

FAR: Lone Sails is the kind of game where art direction and atmosphere carry the experience. The near-monochrome palette, with Lone's red dress as the only real splash of color, sets the tone perfectly for a journey through a vast, empty world where civilization is long gone. The steam-powered vessel you travel with gradually becomes a character in its own right — maintaining it, repairing it through storms and harsh weather, and upgrading it creates a genuine emotional bond that's hard to explain but easy to feel. The gameplay is simple and repetitive, and the environmental puzzles never really challenge you — so if you're looking for depth, you won't find much here. But that's almost beside the point. The camera system deserves a mention too: zooming in and out serves both a practical and narrative purpose, constantly reminding you just how small and alone Lone is against the world around her. The orchestra soundtrack is subtle and unobtrusive, kicking in at just the right moments. A short, beautiful, melancholic experience that will stick with you long after the credits roll. Highly recommended for fans of atmospheric indie games.
