I had a genuine love for this game for the last two years, I decorated a bunch; fought some of the Holiday Scorched to grind out the plans for limited items, didn't even really play the story right away but took my time just enjoying the aspects of building and what others came up with, overall had a great time every time I logged on. And I found after the last few Seasons, rewards just weren't worth it to continue paying for FO1st. Everything is reskinned, you get less than the season before it, and half the time the item disappears from your build menu because they release a new update and it bugs the game out and now it's stuck being locked. It's obvious that more and more this game is becoming a shell, and they continue to take money without actually fixing items that people paid for. I could look past it before because the people made it a great atmosphere, but with everything dwindling between players, seasons, events, etc. it's not fun anymore.
The game feels and plays exactly how it came to be: An empty world based on an old engine, which then got filled in with a myriad of items, quests, NPCs, weapons and so on. Most things are almost inconsequential, random and uninteresting. Overall it is a very simple game but with a ton of content. I find other titles in the multiplayer and survival realms more enjoyable than this.
Fallout 76 has grown into one of the most enjoyable and content-rich multiplayer survival RPGs I have ever played ❤️☣️. While its original release had a difficult start, the game today offers a much more complete and polished experience, combining the exploration, storytelling and dark humour of Fallout with a persistent online world that feels active without constantly forcing players into competitive multiplayer. One of the game’s greatest strengths is its setting. Appalachia is enormous, varied and packed with memorable locations. From abandoned towns and underground bunkers to forests, mountains, swamps and irradiated industrial zones, every region has its own atmosphere and environmental storytelling. Exploring rarely feels pointless because there is almost always a hidden building, terminal entry, note, quest, piece of equipment or strange encounter waiting nearby. The world rewards curiosity, and simply choosing a direction and seeing what you discover can be just as enjoyable as following the main storyline. The quest content is also much stronger than many people may expect. There are several major storylines, faction-based missions, public events, side quests and smaller environmental stories scattered throughout the map. The addition of human NPCs made the world feel much more alive, giving players meaningful conversations, choices and opportunities to build relationships with different characters and groups. The writing still carries the familiar Fallout mix of tragedy, satire, absurdity and moral uncertainty, and there are plenty of moments that feel worthy of the wider series. Character progression is flexible and encourages experimentation. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and perk cards allow players to create a wide range of builds, including heavy weapons specialists, stealthy rifle users, melee fighters, support characters, power-armour tanks and many others. Changing perks makes it possible to adapt your character for combat, crafting, exploration or group activities without needing to start over. Collecting better weapons, armour, modifications and legendary effects provides a steady sense of progression, particularly for players who enjoy refining their build and searching for the perfect equipment. C.A.M.P. building is another major highlight. Creating a personal base gives players a creative objective beyond completing quests and defeating enemies. You can build a practical workshop, a heavily defended fortress, a roadside shop, a detailed home or something completely unusual. Visiting other players’ C.A.M.P.s is often entertaining because the community produces some genuinely impressive designs. Player vending also gives the game a simple but effective economy, allowing people to buy and sell ammunition, plans, weapons, armour and other useful items. The multiplayer elements are handled in a way that works well for both social and solo players. You can complete most of the game independently, but joining a public team provides useful bonuses and makes larger events more enjoyable. Public events bring groups of players together naturally, often creating chaotic battles involving waves of enemies, powerful bosses and large amounts of explosive firepower. These moments make the world feel populated while still allowing players to continue exploring at their own pace afterward. The community is also one of the game’s strongest qualities. Many experienced players are welcoming toward newcomers and will often provide supplies, equipment or assistance without expecting anything in return. Although competitive options exist, most encounters with other players are cooperative or simply friendly. Seeing another player arrive during a difficult fight, help complete an event and then disappear back into the wasteland creates a sense of shared adventure that suits the setting remarkably well. My second full week playing and a kind player randomly showed up at my camp and gave me deep pocketed armour with a jet pack, how awesome is that?! Visually, Fallout 76 can be impressive despite the age of the underlying technology. Appalachia has dramatic landscapes, strong weather effects and excellent lighting, particularly during sunrise, sunset and radioactive storms. The music and ambient sound design add greatly to the experience, while the radio stations provide the familiar retro soundtrack expected from a Fallout game. The contrast between cheerful music and the ruined world remains as effective as ever. The game is not perfect. Inventory management can become time-consuming, some systems require patience, and occasional technical issues can still occur. However, these problems are outweighed by the sheer amount of exploration, progression, creativity and cooperative content available. The game gives players many different ways to enjoy themselves, whether they prefer completing story quests, building elaborate bases, collecting rare equipment, fighting bosses, trading with others or simply wandering through the landscape. Overall, Fallout 76 is a rewarding open-world experience that has developed into something genuinely distinctive. It captures much of what makes Fallout enjoyable while adding a strong sense of community and long-term progression. For players who enjoy exploration, character building, crafting, base construction and cooperative events, there is an enormous amount of content to discover. It may have taken time to reach its full potential, but Fallout 76 is now a wasteland well worth visiting I say.

If you love building ugly houses to show off and fishing for no reason, love your build being nuked, hate shooters, and love playing "in game purchase" then this wretched degeneration is for you baby!
In it's present state the game is functional but the effort that has been sunk into this game to make it acceptable could have been spent making a new, good fallout game. The game still suffers from: -It's very evident the NPCs were added post-design. -Stories / quests are MMO staples. -Tonally different than last 3 games. -Everything has durability -Sleazy cash shop practices, not evil just tactless It does run well and look great so finding out the above yourself is pretty accessible.
First fallout game i've really dove into and having a blast still figuring things out but so far the experience has been fun.
