Everpath (A roguelite "pixel art" adventure") is a retro 2D pixel top down twin stick survival shmup with a lite-RPG veneer bolted onto it. Choose between 1 of 4 samey classes and, regardless of your choice, get dumped into a retro wave survival experience that, had the video game pioneers in the 1980's known people would be making 30 years in their future, they would have abandoned the entire industry. Gameplay is a lot like any top down wave survival brawler, with a Diablo-like RPG interface lazily stamped on top, but without the loot pinata experience and with weaker roleplaying progression. From the outset, the developers at least have the courage to admit they have no talent and no competence and made the game bad, deliberately. They admit they use "pixel art" because they could not afford a qualified artist and lacked the talent to produce art of the standards that meet 2019's level. Remember, as a 2019 game, these guys are competing with Red Dead Redemption II and Battlefield V. They also admit they were unable to produce any quality content, by using the term "roguelite", they admit they did not know how to make compelling story content for their game. Fixed resolution, ugly retro pixel graphics, and deficient gameplay are the big problems with this game. What's confounding here is that a huge amount of effort and polish went into making what is a terrible and deficient game. Baldurs Gate and Diablo happened decades ago. This game is significantly worse than either, but was made very recently.. but why? What's the game plan? "Hi, you remember Diablo? We want to make a game that has less content, less action, less classes, uglier graphics... yeah, I know Diablo is over a decade old now, but we want to do worse... ok you'll let us publish this on Steam? Thanks Gabe!"
Jogaço, esse é muito bom! Adorei...
I played this game with a controller on a hi-dpi monitor. As it stands, I can't recommend this game. It looks good but is let down by poor game-design and programming. Movement is best described as floaty and the character would constantly face to the right when he came to a stop. Enemies come barrelling towards you as soon as you enter chambers and disappear without a trace when their hit points reach zero. The inventory is controlled with a cursor that is tiny and slow-moving on my monitor; the game offers no option to change the resolution. I tried the archer and the knight characters. Attack direction with the knight is inconsistent and the archer aims too sluggishly, both frustrating. I don't know how many people worked on this game but it feels like a solo effort by a well-meaning and talented artist. I applaud their efforts but hope they find a team to work with on their next endeavour. To prospective buyers: Go for it if you want to support the art, but don't expect an enjoyable game.
Really cute game!! Love the graphics, gameplay feels like it needs some polish but overall i liket it cause im a sucker for nice pixel art
