Do you like metroidvania? Well here is a nice and cheap metroidvania game. Retro look, msx or intellvision, and difficult. there are final bosses that are quite tough. Recommended 6 asterisks Asteriskel rating: * * * * * *
Defeating the final boss deletes your save file, with no warning. If you want to explore more or do sidequests after, you'll have to start over from the beginning. No thanks.
Quick score: 4/5 Notes: Pretty fun game overall. Your first playthrough will be about an hour long. Going for all achievements takes about 2-3 hours. My main complaint with the game is that difficulty is on the lower end. Bosses are nice and decently challenging, but the mainworld exploration/combat is mostly boring. Movement speed is also a tad slower than I would like, especially when you are backtracking.

Sideways thumb. Ran well on the Steamdeck. It's a very short and basic top-down atari-retro adventure. I stopped before finishing. I doubt this turns into a metroidvania (so i guess it is falsely advertised). While you do gain new weapons, they don't appear to be in any way related to movement. They are keys and guns which effectively just work like keys & doors (the game has those too). Perhaps a single movement ability pops up later? It's very retro, like VVVVV, 100 Pumpkins 2, SideScape. It's pretty well made (though I did get glitched-stuck behind a bell and had to reload the game one time). Reason I put it this down was because of how basic the map is, though it was really a final straw in a lukewarm-at-best experience. It displays rooms as squares but doesn't show how they connect and it could display a bit more than it does. It caused me to run in circles from time to time. It's not the worst offender in this regard, as the map is very small, but it was a deterrent enough for me to not care to finish a game that I was only barely invested in to begin with.
Kann man machen...
Great little bullet hell adventure
Terrible game. You can only shoot sideways, combat is just annoying, everything feels cheap.
Very cute Shmuptroidvania like the HERO games, but much less punishing.
This is one of the most feminine games I've ever found on steam. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire development team consisted of women. Anyway, it's rather simple and brief but the price matches the content. One thing to keep in mind is that I'm not quite so sure this counts as a metroidvania, it leans more towards being a very simple RPG instead.
This game is awesome and cute, and I would definitely recommend getting it! The mechanics are solid, there's a good amount of secrets to discover, a lot of cute NPC's to talk to, and it's an overall fun experience. How long it takes to beat the game depends on how much of the world you decide to explore. My first run, where I tried to explore as much as I could (Though I don't think I got everything!) took over 1.5 hours before I beat it, though I eventually managed to beat the game in under 7 minutes for the achievement (I looked at a speedrun to figure out how). The different wands are pretty cool, even if I mostly just used the pink one (And one other wand later on). It'd be awesome if we got to see the main characters of this game in future games, as I definitely would like to know more of their story. I'm excited to see what vemu games makes next! I'd say more here, but I'd recommend just playing it for yourself!
