It was intereresting to start playing after I finished with elex 1. But main problem of this game is cringe story, fractions are less charismatic than in elex 1. I was dissapointet with face palm storyline....Elex 2 is verdic for elex serises like cringe arcania (ex gothic 4) was verdict for gothic series. But at least this game is playable and not really deserve dislike 6/10
Oh man... Okay, let’s start at the beginning. I love Piranha Bytes games. From Gothic through Risen, I’ve played through all of their titles and expansions, and I’ve liked them all. Yes, they can be a bit clunky at times, but they always deliver a great open world and a well-crafted Euro-RPG progression system. As sad as it is to admit, I cannot recommend Elex 2. I played through the original Elex twice and had an absolute blast with it, but finishing this sequel felt more like a chore than fun. The biggest issue is that the development was very clearly rushed. Chapter 1 is awesome and features everything I love about their games. After that, however, it goes straight downhill. Beyond Chapter 1, almost every mission boils down to a generic "go here and kill 10 enemies" loop. Enemy variety is another major problem; you barely see any new enemy types after the first chapter. In fact, there are enemies mentioned in the lore that don't even appear in the game. The Verdict: If you are a fan of Piranha Bytes, you probably already know the real-world circumstances that led to the game launching in this state (if not, check their Facebook page). Only buy this game if you are okay knowing that the second half abandons intrigue, real questing, lore and character development in favor of "pew-pew" and "slash-slash."
Besides that every characters in the game looks like unpolished dolls with stiff facial no expression ubisoft animations, the general gameplay and story wins over everything else. We know Piranha bytes has always been great at story telling, and this one is no expection, which clearly shines if you've played their Gothic series. Now lets get back to the dull lifeless charaters. Dear devs, how in the living hell did you manage to screw that completely up, prior to the first game? You updated the game engine but somehow left out the render of the human skin texture? dont know if that was intentional, but its a massive Con from MPOW, they all look like they were left behind in the 2013 era.. so what left me hooked on this sequel, is the same superior gameplay and progression as Elex 1 had, where you start of as weak and then gotta find your way up to the top by completing different tasks, or just go on a random xp hunt. The world it self is unforgiving like the first installment, theres threat and danger everywhere where your slightlest decisions will be your demise. The story its self is really great, i like it alot like the first game had. all in all, good game, not as superior as the first, but a decent sequel that kinda felt rushed out. The only thing that bothers me more then the doll lookalike characters, is the replacement for Jax's voice, also the simplistic UI, why couldnt we have that awesome ui like the frist game? the adjucter was really cool and you felt like you were actaully using a high tech equipment.. But the thing that boters me even more is, the unecessary change to Clerics and Berserkes armor.. its just ugly compared to the first game. we will probably never get a Elex 3 now that the studio has shut down ;( but heres hoping Alkima devs behind the massive succes of Gothic Remake, will do the honors one day. So if you're an gothic fan and miss that superior rpg itch where the formula is, Zero to Hero, and the unique pirahna bytes style of gameplay and progression, then i would recommend it to you. But i would deffo recommend you to play the first game to get the catch up with the story.
please make a third.
RIP Piranha Bytes and ELEX 3 Embracer group is a bunch of wankers
I do enjoy Eurojank games, but this game is a step backwards from Technomancer. I think my tolerance (for now) has maxed out at 3.5 hours of gameplay. Additionally, Piranha Bytes (now Pithead & Brainlag Studios) just joined my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Game Engine to Avoid list with the distinction of sharing that honor with just one other game studio, Bethesda Games- there is no reason to use Genome or Creation Engines in the 2020's and beyond. I do hope the Piranha Bytes devs who split-off to create new studios uses different engines, especially an engine that can make combat feel like it isn't from a 1990's videogame. I'm not advocating the use of Unreal Engine since the tech scope is often beyond small indies, but no licensing fees should pique one's interest. Even Unity Engine would be better than those aforementioned POS game engines - just search the list of hit games using Unity Engine to include Tainted Grail with combat I thoroughly enjoyed.
