The Surge 2 delivers polished gameplay, rewarding progression, and some of the best melee combat in the Souls-like genre
This is quite possibly the most un-fun game I've ever played. If you enjoy cliche sci-fi stories, monotonous combat and bland apocalyptic environments... Knock yourself out I guess. I however am gonna re-evaluate whatever life choices led me to spending 19 hours playing this game.
Decent Dark Souls like experience set in futuristic dystopia. Everybody runs like crazy in Jericho city, tearing each other limbs for upgrades. Despite that game have interesting levels and satisfactory progression system. Unlocking new path by getting through obstacles - shortcut to the next area can be open for easy access. Boss fights are merciless. Some fights can be avoided - drone can be used to shoot enemies from distance dealing some minor damage but after upgrading it's actually deadly. Gameplay is based mostly around melee weapons, so dodging and stamina is important. Different gear which give bonus for equipping whole set (after getting each necessary part). For the most part game have good balance between combat and evasion, allowing for some tactics. Sometimes it's more smart to taunt one enemy at a time or avoid fight at all. Cover art sucks, but gameplay doesn't. Game made for Dark Souls people.
Game is awesome. Combat is solid (those of you crying about the blocking, git gud), overall environment is good, music is decent and the enemies are pretty cool. A bit easier than the first one but I think its better.
Better than the first in just about every way. Very tight Sci-fi souls-like. Interesting combat, world design is sick, overstays its welcome a bit in the last act, but easily worth playing through. Good F****** Food/10
I like many others am on a Windows 11 PC. And the game crashes constantly. And nothing I have tried works. Sometimes it won't even load. I have searched reddit and found people all with the same issue. Thankfully I got it from loaded for only $5, but I may as well have grinded up the $5 and put it in a shake. I would have gotten more value from that.
The atmosphere of the first game completely hooked me and made me want to finish it right away. I started the sequel immediately after but it was a bit disappointing cause it lacked the environmental horror vibe that made the first game so memorable. The sequel definitely has more unique weapons and gear but overall, I still prefer the first game.......
Un soulslike re copado bastante infravalorado: lejos de ser de los mejores pero ni-de-onda uno de los malos. Solido "8/10" con un primary gameplay loop buenisimoo re vicio. Contenido bien disperso que por lo barato que es RE vale la pena
An upgrade in every single way from Surge 1. Weapons and combat flow better, enemies aren't annoying for the sake of being annoying, dense locations with lots to explore and discover. Overall very good.
6/10, A pretty alright souls-like with some neat ideas, poor executions and also suffers from very questionable design choices. POSITIVES -Has an almost perfect version of claws -limb cutting for parts means you can easily farm necessary materials and pieces you're missing instead of chancing it on rng -the executions are satisfying for the most part -combat can actually feel really good since every enemy feels like fighting a silver or black knight from dark souls -double duty weapons as a concept is very unique and I hope other games steal it NEGATIVES -The for honor directional parry thing worked in that game because they only gave you 3 directions, and thus a 120 degree angle for each. -Some of the boss runbacks are also complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. -Every weapon in its type has the exact same moveset, the most special looking dark nanomagic axe will function exactly the same as the normal axe you found 3 minutes into the game -Enemy variety sucks pretty bad, aside from humans, we have like 3 types of robots(and a robot that fights like a human) and 3 types of nanomonsters, one of which is found literally 10 minutes from finishing the game -aggroing more than one enemy is a one-way trip to cbt city Get it on sale if you care, otherwise only bother if you've run out of souls-likes and desperately need to sate your unhealthy addiction like the rest of us. Positive review only because I paid like 3 euros and it bribed me with the claws.
