FOR IT'S TIME AND EVEN NOW
This was and is a 'decent' looking game. Something looking like the inside of 5 star hotels, looks great. This has for VA (voice actor), Rose Leslie and accompanying Nicholas Boulton .
There was clear indication for the progress of the story into a FILM, to date we haven't further detail on that.
It's played in third person VIEW, there is a psychological effect in what appears to be you against yourself. Initially. Though, you're introduced to these cloned enemies. As the game progresses it's 6 chapters, it FOR ME, was mostly a stealth-fest. You have your 'hand-gun' and various other combat moves such as stealth take-downs. There is the opportunity to level up yourself. You obviously must give attention to detail to do that. Even so, and probably because I had to give attention to that It was difficult for me, the game IS SO BEAUTIFUL to look at, though after some time in game, it feels 'samey' and if you save and have to get up and wash the dishes, you may find it difficult to just step back in. If you liked it and just connected to what was going on here. You continue. There is a narrative, there is a story to follow sometimes you may feel like there isn't. At this time if you're playing on new[/] HARDWARE and it seems you're unable to initialize the game. I found in the forums something that worked FROM-GAME-LIBRARY-OPEN PROPERTIES->GENERAL ->LAUNCH OPTIONS insert the following cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000d&&call %command% That ↑↑↑ for me had the game working on my CORE ULTRA CPU's 🗸🗸🗸 As a person that enjoys stealth games. I played and completed the campaign. Have fun. Recommended
A solid precise experience that tricks you into believing it's an action shooter but it is actually a stealth game. Story is intriguing but convoluted. Liminal spaces look original on Unreal Engine 4. Hauntingly beautiful sound and music. Superb voice acting of Nicholas Boulton and Rose Leslie. A unique game I can recommend. ECHO 8/10
I'm sad and baffled at the same time why this game hasn't become a success. It's a mystery filled sci-fi thriller story-based game, where you constantly wonder what went wrong, why and how is this all happening. Especially the introductory chapter where things start to ramp up, you get to know more and more about the world, and your current predicament, it's really fascinating. I would have loved to see more games in this world this team built. It also looks gorgeous, not necessarily graphically - though for a game from 2017, I think it looks more than allright - but the design of the Palace and the whole game is breathtakingly beautiful. Gameplay-wise it is structured around Blackouts which happen at regular intervals. Between these intervals you can do a lot of things, like run, crouch, jump, vault over obstacles, open or close a door, shoot or strangle an enemy, or even play an instrument. But be prepared, because whatever you do, the enemies will be capable of doing that too after the next Blackout. This adaptive enemy design adds so much to this game, that I can forget about stiff animations or rudimentary stealth mechanics altogether. It's not yout usual stealth game, you have to think twice about what you dare to do to your enemies. Never have I ever had a game where the enemy NPC sneaked up on me from behind and choked me out. Never even heard her coming! I wholeheartedly recommend it!
I've said in other reviews that I like games that take a single unique idea and expand on it provided the expansion is of a reasonable size. ECHO is one such game, it takes the idea of dealing with "clever" enemies and puts the spin on it that they only learn from you. To be clear though the thing that makes it unique is just as they quickly "learn" from you they also forget just as quickly, you're forced to swap out strategies on the fly making sure you are at no point giving the enemies too much information to work with. This produces an almost puzzle stealth game whereby you're ideally getting by with just barely enough tools. The tension can be high. While visually the game isn't very varied the clean aesthetic means that all information you need is always available. The game isn't super long so it ends at about when I suspect the devs started running out of ideas, which is good since games like this live and die on not overdoing their central idea. The story is interesting but held back a bit by characters that I think do a good job being a bit too unlikeable. They're supposed to be abrasive, but they end up just being whiny and smug. There are certainly some deep themes addressed but none of them are super well explored, I'd still give points for trying though. ECHO presents a bit of a tragic tale because despite being full of good ideas the game didn't do very well and I believe the studio that made it shuttered. It's a shame because I would have loved to see the next game these guys would have made. With the benefit of more practice we could have gotten a real art-making-machine of a studio. Alas it was not to be and ECHO will likely forever remain the debut game of a studio that could have been. I'd recommend ECHO to sci-fi and stealth fans, as well as people who like games that take a single interesting concept and run with it.
Hidden gem. Truly underplayed and not well know enough.

Si buscas acción constante, gratificación rápida y cero frustración… mejor no entres a este palacio: aquí no te consienten, te ponen a prueba.
I would say it is line of sight stealth game at the core. Game promises to always adapts to what player does and evolve together with it. Instead, the core mechanic is more about restricting certain actions until light/blackout cycle allows. Other wise, expect to "bait, evade around and obstacle and attacked from the back" a lot. It is one loop that the game never broke on hard difficulty. Also, it is one trick enemies never learn Even though they learn to sneak and learn the attack from the back... Player has 30m range detector and enough resources to use repeatedly. Therefore, AI has very little chance of using this tactic successfully. Another thing that gets done a lot is "pushing enemies of the ledges". Which is again tactical and one thing the game excels at is pushing player away from the one thing that always works, by level design. You can't circle around the obstacle and evade on narrow bridges, so let's push and make them fall to their death. It sounds simple, it is simple. However, it is a lot of fun. Level design is just great. Tension is ever-present. If you shoot, next cycle they shoot back. If you sprint, next cycle they chase you and swarm you. The "enemies learn what you do" mechanic works great. It forced me from being mindless, forced me to stay tactical. Also, it brings depth when it comes to teaching the enemies the right things. If you shout, they start to shout and become easier to detect. So in a way you can teach the to work for you. Or teach them a few bad habits that make them easier to kill. And this is where the game shines. These kind of mind games. Story is good with great voice acting. I really enjoyed it. Then there is the level design and graphics. It just looks great. Not "high end AAA" kind of great. But creative " endless space palace" kid of great. I found the design amazing. The place felt endless and mysterious. Overall, I give it 8/10. It really does not keep its main gameplay promise to constantly break player habits. It makes up for it by forcing the payer to be in a constant mind-game with himself and plan ahead. I would recommend it to anyone who likes stealth, is fed up with open world RPG stealth archer meme and would like to try something different. That's why I picked it up and that's why I loved it.
Interesting concepts for a stealth game but turns annoying and repetitive at the last segments. The story is forgettable.
