I hope this game finds the people that need it. It's clunky and slow sometimes, but it's message makes it more than worth it if it's enough to save a life by finding it. It might hurt, but it's only temporary- you'll be okay, the world is better with you in it even if you have to get to the good part. Cherish your loved ones, and make sure to include yourself among them...if you can't seem to right now, then make sure you do eventually. i'm kinda dumb tho, took me a little for some puzzles but if I can do it anyone can- really isn't that hard of a game, the movement is probably the most difficult part but you get used to it. story is beautiful and pretty well told between the cutscenes, gameplay, and text messages with the characters. bonus content is found by collecting the donuts, I'd highly recommend acquiring as many as possible since donut count unlocks the side text convos that say the most about what's going on in J.J.'s story...and cute outfit colors.
genuinely, if you or someone you love is going through the mental anguish of gender dysphoria, or any kind of queer identity where you/they don't have the greatest support network, please do a blind playthrough of this game. i have never been more moved in my entire life then when i played through this game for the first time. it is really hard for me to shed tears when it comes to video games or other forms of media, but this game managed to legitimately make me BALL my eyes out because of how intensely close to home it hit for me. This has become my new favorite game i have EVER played for that sole reason. 11/10.
但是 J.J.
The gameplay is flawed but the game mechanics are interesting to mess around with. A few puzzles are frustrating but most of them are cleverly designed. The writing is irregular and sometimes lacks subtlety but still manages to be deeply moving. A game full of contrasts and contradictions that I'd still wholeheartedly recommend. We desperately need more games that tell this kind of stories.
One of the most important games ever made.
The gameplay is pretty ok. It can be rather clunky at times and annoying at some points, but holy ♥♥♥♥ the story. Everything works so well even if the symbolism can overt at times. I highly recommend going into the game blind as the story does a great job slowly unraveling the themes it is exploring
The "game" part is a solid 7.5/10 experience. Possibly the best "game" SWERY ever made. The story and presentation I have, mixed feelings on? Its violence feels voyeuristic and exploitative but it can be argued that that's part of the lived experience it's trying to convey. SWERY's track record with this subject matter before and after also has me ambivalent. Ultimately, I lean positive on JJ Macfield, though. It was bold, creative and has a strong message to share, through its weird and intimate violence. Just keep in mind, all the trigger warnings.
A horror/narrative platformer game that feels like a cross between Clock Tower and Prince of Persia. Super cool dismemberment mechanics and physics. Feels really good to play and collect donuts throughout the levels. Story is very touching too. If you like Celeste or similar titles then you’ll enjoy this quite a bit. I’ve played every port of this game, Xbox, PS4, Steam and Switch. They all run pretty well but I had the least issues out of the Xbox version I’d say. Steam port is perfectly fine.
I don't think I've ever cried so much playing a game as I did with this one. The adventure and gameplay are visually brutal, the puzzles are interesting and creative. The cell phone dialogue with the other characters feels real. And all these elements help on making up a beautiful story. The narrative is presented in a very interesting way and it's message always gets to me. This is my first SWERY game and it won't be my last.
失踪:J.J.
