When a mother moth perceives the presence of a possible threat to her throne...
I really wanted to like this game, especially after suffering through the first one. This game is just so disjointed in so many ways. While the gameplay isn't as frustratingly slow as the first game with the sprint now being an actual run, there is so much about the game that is unresponsive. It constantly felt like wrestling with the game to make it do what I wanted. Interacting with doors is incredibly inconsistent between opening them slowly, barging through, tying a rope to them, or holding them closed. There are also moments where you're supposed to get caught or what would otherwise be dying in certain ways or certain places to progress the game and its very unclear when this is the case. You can pseudo, soft-lock yourself by just playing the game the way it's meant to up to that point. Once again, the story is just too much. I've seen people praise the story and I don't want to be mean to them, but it feels like the more media literacy you have, the less enjoyable the story is. Most of the twists are just total rug pulls with no mystery or clue as to how they even exist. Once again, most characters go by at least two names and most of the twists are "This person was actually this person all along!" with a few of them making some of the story beats and twists from the first game make even less sense. The sentimental moments are ham-fisted and utilize, actually genuinely good music to make it seem like the story has done more to add weight to these moments. And I don't know if the characters were older than they seemed but three romance between the two most childlike characters was just unnecessary. I don't mind the dark themes of the stories but child romance is just odd on top of feeling forced. Some of the music was genuinely good as I mentioned, but the audio mix was terrible. Spatial audio for tracking stalkers or cues are nonsensical, and on some cutscenes one character will be so loud, another will be hard to hear, and the third will have their audio peaking and crackling. I played Resident Evil 2 Remake as well as some old indie horror games like Amnesia between Remothered 1 and 2 and its really jarring how much is missing and unpolished from this series all while this game treats itself with so much importance and self indulgence, plus Chris Darril plastering his name all over it. I tried to like this series but I don't think I can keep going. If the 2nd game was this confusing and disjointed as well as retroactively making the first game make less sense, I don't want to see what the next game will do.
--nice ,hidden geme, indi third person stealth survial horror game with good story , --completed this games today --itinial launch was buggy thats why the reviews are mixed (still some bugs present but noting game breaking) --but now the devs already fixed this game you can play it from start to end without issues --atmosphere and background music is good must try and better than 1st part of this game in gameplay wise enemie AI is smarter than 1st part of this game --combat and stealth mechanics is good in this game
3.6 Overall a worse game than the first, The environment(s) aren't as great feeling, awful QTE, the stalkers are a mixture of joke and sheer annoyance, the story is louder and more convoluted it gutted the one large location, going back and forth within in favour of a smaller environment generally from just a few. That being said the first chapter especially keeps the back and forth style but only for a few loops. From which point on it becomes a lot more overall linear and confined. They never feel quite as well put together as the first did with it's assets and such, also resources are a lot more scarce and hidden away within drawers etc which is just more cumbersome. Especially as 90% of the time they are fairly useless. The QTE's that happen when a stalker comes up to a hiding place is borderline impossible with the mouse indicator moving so fast instantly upon appearing. Even maxing out the relevant skill and setting it to Easy in the settings it still requires quite a wide movement of the mouse to not fail. The Stalkers move slow and cumbersome which both helps and hinders. It helps because they cannot keep up whatsoever and most you can run circles around. To compensate the game soon piles multiple on you which can then get easily irritating. Getting stuck into a corner with multiple stalkers lined up to try to get you. There is a system in place to pull you out if you are stuck but if there's more than one stalker you just then get stuck between two. It wasn't until secondary playthroughs trying to get other achievements where I realised that there was a 'door barring' move you can do. Barring the door is hilariously overpowered, it's super easy (esp compared to the other QTE) and it immediately causes the stalker to stop pursuit. These playthroughs are also where I was using more secondary diversion weapons to then allow me to stab, which even doing it normally was at times just not letting you stab and just gets infuriating. The story while the first was quite a bit obtuse at times was still followable and for me within a realm of belief. Yet this felt like they 'had' to one up themself with the first so actual super-natural powers and such are happening, almost breaking down to points of characters holding their hands to use them. Some of the voice lines are delivered very stilted or with a awkwardly comical voice, yet others were fine and passable I guess. There's some other plot contrivances that felt like they didn't quite work or were not explained too well. In the end I can't fully recommend this on the whole but if you absolutely loved the first I feel you'll probably like a lot more of what this adds story wise yet the gameplay is personally quite diverted.
i found myself really enjoying the game, don't be fooled, most of the negative reviews are caused by a chaotic release, and i must say, as hard as the story is to understand this is one of my favorite. believe it or not i haven't encountered bugs or at least not a single one significant enough to impact my experience in any sort of way, but i believe this is due to the fact that i'm playing it more than 5 years after the release, anyway if you like "stalker horror" type games then this one is made for you and i recommened it, this was a pleasant experience.
This is a prime example of when a mixed review for steam would come into play This sequel fails to live up to tormented fathers but delivers some pretty interesting story points, scares, and monsters. The issues are rather glaring on the other hand as it really suffers from the story getting really confusing overtime due to time jumps, enemy AI and game mechanics just not working, and the objectives often feel really unclear. So while I won't recommend this game to new players of the series, I will recommend it to those interested in what the "end" of the story truly looks like 5/10
Okay this was way better than the first one. It still had some frustrating hide and seek mechanics. Once you passed those the game was fun to explore around and learn more about the story. They just recently announced a third, so I'm hoping the game will be improved further.
A troubled development and a rocky launch marred this otherwise excellent sequel to the beautiful homage to horror games and the clock tower series in particular that was the first Remothered. The story it tells is gorgeous and has tense moments throughout. I wish they had taken more time to polish the stealth sections and not assume you remember the mechanics of the first game. Cant wait for part 3.
As the previous game, the story goes in all directions and sometimes it can be hard to follow, but it's still peak. Also the gameplay is way more improved than the original, with more escape options and defense items, and you can also be chased by multiple stalkers!!
I don't know whether to recommend this game or report it. The AI got stuck. I got stuck. The enemies got stuck. At one point I got stuck outside the map. Then I discovered a bugged talent that gave me infinite moth keys by repeatedly blocking a bathroom door, so I became a millionaire while two of my pursuers forgot how to function. The controls occasionally take coffee breaks, the story feels like it was assembled during a fever dream, and the entire game is held together by duct tape and pure determination. 10/10 experience. 5/10 game. If you're looking for a glorious trainwreck, welcome home.
