Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

man, I refuse to believe that Bioware that made this game is same that as todays bioware. this game is an epic fantasy story and if it was released today ( with all bells and whistles that come with modern games like good graphics and QOL and smooth gameplay) it would be considered game on level of baldurs gate 3 and elden ring, for some it is, I personally would not put it up there just because of bugs and I had to heavily mod it to enjoy, but this game is truly one of the best RPGs that defined genre. your choices matter, unlike veilguard, witch is surprising because this game came out in 2009!!! this truly feels like meme "we are evolving, just backwards"

a great fantasy game, it reminds me so much of world of Warcraft but it doesn't shy away from deep topics or character relationships which I love since it makes it feel more inclusive and personal, this game is one of my many favs!

From what ive seen so far the gameplay, characters, etc are great, although just be prepared for a ton of crashing, Youll have to lower graphics, install mods and more to stop the game from dying on you.

This game has the most interesting, and least dynamic, gameplay of the DA series. The tactics menu is actually useful in this one and with the DLCs some of these companions have busted moves (Sten casually bringing everyone back to life). That said, this game is definitely the hardest and I found myself lowering the difficulty an embarrassing number of times. The plot is great in this one and knowing that I only have one playthrough under my belt as a Cousland has me excited for whenever I bring myself to go through the process of fixing it up again. It is also incredibly buggy on Steam and the fact that I (not very well versed in mods) had to look up how to download a patch just to keep this game from crashing after every combat is pretty rough and has kept me from wanting to start another playthrough. The classes all feel pretty balanced and the subclasses add flavor. Perhaps controversially, the companions in this one are my least favorite overall in the series, not to any real detriment to them, but as a compliment to the character writing in the next two installments. When Bioware hits they hit.

BEST GAME EVER!!!!

I do have this thing (plus awakening) on DVD, which I bought when I was young and stupid, having to travel like 5 km on foot. All bc I played a couple days before at a friend's home. It's been over 15 yrs since then and this game still manages to awe me. My Steam playtime doesn't even approach to the actual one. If you are too young to have played this game on its prime or if you somehow managed to miss it back then, and you like actual RPGs, I can't stress how much you'd like it. Just open your wallet and spend some bucks. And don't forget to fill up some mods; DAO suffers a lot from memory leak but there are solid unofficial workarounds.
