About
“Charge set”, my Alpha Team leader said.
Not knowing what lay in wait for us behind the door, I commanded, “Burn it” into the radio.
“Burning”, he replied. Sliding his finger into the pull ring of the ignition system, he pushed the pin in, turned it a quarter turn, and pulled.
The night was no longer silent as the sound of shredding timber filled the night. Windows shattered and pieces of glass fell to the ground. The walls around me shook. Where a door once stood, only smoke remained. Like water bursting forth from a dam, men flowed into the unknown.
--- from “Violence of Action” by Marty Skovlund

The sequel to the hit tactics game Door Kickers, Task Force North brings you the best portrayal of modern Close Quarters Combat and Tactics in a video game.
Control Special Operation Units in daring raids to rescue hostages, neutralize and capture terrorists in the fictional country of Nowheraki, Middle East.

Top-down tactics with Real Time gameplay but pause-at-will allows you to think, rethink, and still bite your nails as the action happens. And there's no turns, hexes or action points to manage.
The game models deadly threats and techs: suicide bombers, IEDs and Rocket-Propelled Grenades - but gives you tools to dominate: Light Machine Guns for suppressive fire, Night Vision Goggles to own the night and wall breaching charges to open new entry points.
Destructible environment lets you progress through the non-linear levels. If something stands in your way, tear it down! Any strategy is viable.
You can even choose the unit to deploy for any mission:
U.S. Army Rangers - firepower, numbers and skilled, coordinated violence.
CIA Special Activities Division - small unit of Covert Operators, able to go undercover but also deliver surgical strikes when needed.
Nowheraki SWAT - grit, improvised tech and gear borrowed from their US advisors.
It's NOT just skins and weapons, but distinct playing style, abilities and unit doctrines.
Should there be more units? Tell us what YOU think!

Play unique, hand crafted Operations or endless, procedural generated Tours of Duty. Each has their own challenges and rewards. For the bravest, mix it with the optional Iron Man Mode: troopers lost during campaign missions are gone forever.
Dead stays dead*, but memories are forever!
*only in Iron Man mode.

Online Co-Op Multiplayer is available, for up to 4 players. Each player brings his own Squad but you must work together to complete your mission. Choose your gear, draw your plans, strategize and combine your tactical prowess! In the end, you win or lose together.

Door Kickers 2 comes with over 90 handcrafted missions, plus Handcrafted and Generated Campaigns, Random Mission Generator and a Full-blown Mission & Level Editor to create your own content.
And you can share it with the world, or enjoy what others have built: The Steam Workshop already hosts over 7000 missions and is now open for Custom Units, Total Conversions and all sorts of wild stuff our modders are famous for.

With full SteamDeck compatibility and custom touch screen controls, you can play Door Kickers 2 anywhere! Enjoy unparalleled strategical freedom both ingame and in real life!

Name your characters, give them specific tasks and make emotional connections with them. You will loathe when they die and cheer when the enemy misses. Workshop makes the game highly replayable.

Just not very fun. The whole drawing pre planning phase of things is really clunky and finicky and clearly designed for mobile with just a few hotkeys. I played through the FNG missions and felt that most of the gameplay was just doodling these plans that took a lot of time then you watch and hope the RNG lets your Rangers kill the terrorists. You can restart with the exact same plans and same enemy layout and get widely different results which tells me this would be really frustrating on difficult missions. This would be much better as an xcom style true turn based game for me.
This game will absolutely scratch that itch for a tactical CQB. It is a top view game. It will really test your knowledge when it comes down to planning and it is very addicting, so crack open a cold one or spark up (solo or with a friend online) and enjoy this masterpiece of a game. They also have a mobile version of this but it won't beat the pc version. 10/10 for dang sure. can't wait for a third one
Fun game but some of the achievements are pretty much impossible to get
GAME LOCKS YOU OUT OF PROGRESSING PAST FIRST MISSION SET IF YOU CANNOT WIN MISSION 1:6. Well, I didn't want to write a negative review, but this title has a game-breaking flaw: You can be permanently locked out of the entire game if you fail the sixth mission in the first bunch. And a lot of players will. Here's why: When you complete missions you get a currency called STARS that you can use to unlock equipment. So you buy stuff as you go, outfit your troops, etc. The problem is that the 6th mission is pretty much impossible unless you buy the BREACHING CHARGE unlock. Unfortunately, there's no warning of this and no way to reset your purchases or continue on past the first mission pack to get more stars. That means if you did not buy the breaching charges right away, it's nearly certain you will never finish that mission. It's technically possible to win without it, but the one time I saw this discussed the player struggling with it ONLY overcame it by spending endless hours trying to make the best plan he could and then doing it OVER and OVER and OVER until the RNG finally gave him a break. A MODERATOR, of all things, named AXIOS's response to him was basically "git gud." Extremely rude. Had that lucky RNG not happened he would have bought a $25 game where one of the very first missions prevents you from EVER playing the game past that point. EVER. There's no way to reset stars, no way to get more past that first mission pack. It's a hard dead end if you cannot win that one mission. Otherwise the game's great - IF you can EVER get the chance to actually PLAY it. EDIT: The main reason I wrote this is because I am one of the people locked out of progressing in the game because of that problem. I saw another thread discussing it, and respectfully asked for someone to notice it and implement a solution, and mentioned ideas. A moderator called AXIOS deleted my post and gave me some kind of strike. When I responded telling him it's a real problem etc. He said "second warning." So either the DEVs have instructed their mods to be cruel to players. Since that means they will probably ban me from the game discussions here or some such, I was left with no other option than to list the issue here where, it is my hope, that moderator cannot censor it. So if you get the game, watch out in the Steam forums - that mod will beat you down if you have anything to say that isn't glowingly positive, apparently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- English - Inglés: [Google Translator] After a little over two hours with the game, I realized an uncomfortable truth: my soldiers were never the problem... the problem was the guy giving them orders. In other words, me. I went in thinking all I had to do was kick down a door, start shooting, and play the hero. The game answered with a burst of bullets in less than ten seconds. You don't improvise here. Every corner, every window, and every door can ruin a mission that was going perfectly. And when a plan actually works, you don't feel like a player... you feel like a real tactical commander. What surprised me the most is the freedom. You can breach from almost anywhere, try completely different strategies, change your loadout, and replay the same mission ten different ways. You constantly catch yourself thinking, "Wait... what if I come in from the back this time?" And just like that, another thirty minutes disappear. That variety, combined with excellent mission design and fantastic mod support, is a big reason why the community loves this game. Does it have flaws? Sure. The learning curve is brutal, replaying a mission until you find the right plan can be frustrating, and the game has zero patience for mistakes. But that's also what makes it so satisfying: when you finally clear a map without losing anyone, it feels incredible. In short: this game doesn't reward the fastest shooter. It rewards the smartest one... and then lets them shoot. 9/10, with an extra point for teaching me that saying "Alright boys, just go in" does not count as a strategy.
Insanely addictive. The premise is "what if we expanded the Rainbow 6 planning phase into a whole game?" but it is so much more fun that that. The game is incredibly nuanced, you can customize each soldier's loadout, there are also skill trees and tons of unlocks. The game allows for expressive play, you can go in guns blazing or try to be stealthy. You can plan each move ahead of time and if you are good enough you can clear a level with one play. There are few other gaming experiences I can say are as satisfying as a perfectly planned and executed breach and clear.
