Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

If I could summarize my experience with Mankind Divided in one word, it would be bland. It feels like a weaker cousin of Human Revolution. It says a lot of heavy-handed political ideas directly to the player, in a kind of heavy handed and a little annoying manner, while simoutaneously having the least to say out of all the Deus Ex games (I haven't played the second one tho). Prague feels empty, weird, small and directionless. The ability, upgrade and combat system is a tad more complex now, kind of for the sake of being more complex. The overall story and experience is weak and forgettable. I can remember a bunch of interesting missions and situations I got into during Human Revolution and pretty much the entirety of the og Deus Ex mission by mission and I struggle to remember one interesting thing, situation, dilemma or a mission I got into during Mankind Divided. It kind of feels bigger for the sake of being bigger, more cinematic for the sake of being more cinematic and like the studio generally didn't know what to do with a brand that was bigger than them. Really similar feeling to a subpar James Bond movie.

mankind divided improves upon many aspects of human revolution. the level design has so much attention to detail, and the exploration is such a rewarding experience throughout the lived-in city of prague. as a stealth player, the new mechanics such as remote hacking makes things interesting, if a little easy at times. the biggest flaw of the game is the somewhat lackluster ending, where you are really left wanting more as so much remains unresolved. it also has some weird jankiness, such as getting stuck on steps, doorways, and vents, requiring you to jump to get over them. it is a shame to know that we are likely never going to see a continuation of jensen's story, because i would love to see what would have come next. i recommend playing this game back to back with human revolution

Incredible game. I struggled to get into it during the first phase. I was chasing lots of side quests, and it felt like I was just doing "stuff." I didn't really get into the plot or understand what was going on until halfway into the game. I recommend watching the trailers in the extras section to help you understand what's going on. I learned that they had much more planned for this game, but they had to ship it early. You wouldn't know it. The game is crammed with content. I don't understand why people say it's abrupt or short. There are tons of places to explore. It's just easy to skip the side quests if you want to. I'm guessing that's what most people do. I've played all of the other games in the series. This is one of the best ones. You should play Human Revolution before you play this one, though. Ideally, you should play the games in order of their release. You could also skip Invisible War and come back to it as the last one you play. Music: 7/10. Most of it is light ambient / background noise, but it's vaguely close enough to the original Deus Ex soundtrack that the songs from the original game were getting stuck in my head. Gameplay: 8/10. Sneaking and shooting feel nice. You can aim through iron sights / scopes. Augmentation usage feels nice. It's possible to unlock all augmentations. Plot: 9/10. It was hard to get into at first. I wondered if some of it should be cut, but it's a video game. You don't have to play all the side quests if you don't want to. The concept behind the plot is very original, and they tied into the plot of the original game in creative ways. I appreciate the work they did. In true Deus Ex form, there is some political commentary that is incredibly prescient. As someone who played the original on the year it was released, I regret not playing this sooner. I would say this release is better than Human Revolution. It's incredible what they accomplished. I wonder what it would have been if they could have completed everything they wanted to complete. Definitely a hidden gem. It just took some time to grow on me.

It's crazy how parrallel the story is to what we face today. Story, gameplay and characters are all 10/10. Deus ex Mankind Divided is a must try provided you don't skip its story and side questes. Never skip them side quests.

Sigma male breaking and entering simulator with cyberpunk story elements. Graphics could definitely be optimized for a 10 year old game though.

Human Revolution is much much better, I've tried to get into this game like 5 time and each time i play for like an hour and im just bored, the Map and the way quest markers work is horrible. everything feels tedious and the aiming feels atrocious its way to clunky its not a smooth movement and when you crank the look sensitivity its just to fast theres no medium its to slow and clunky or to fast and inaccurate. Games not that good. Looks beautiful , plays like crap.
