Crysis 2 is a FPS action game. This game game now switches to aliens. The campaign is rather linear in design. The players nanosuit has been updated with new abilities. The game now takes place in NYC instead of a jungle scene. Weapons include the FY71 Assault Rifle and M18 Smoke Grenade. Some bugs in the game remain unfixed. This game is also available on the Xbox 360. I played this on my Dell XPS 9570 with GTX 1050 Ti Max Q graphics.
Crysis 2 — The Suit Became the Main Character
Final verdict: Not Recommended from me. Crysis 2 is not a bad game, but for me it is the point where Crysis started to feel less like Crysis. The first Crysis was a broken, beautiful jungle monster. It had problems, but it had space. You could scout, sneak, flank, swim, steal vehicles, use the nanosuit your own way, and turn each fight into your own little mess. Crysis 2 is different. Now we are in New York. The jungle is gone. The wide sandbox feeling is weaker. The game still gives you combat arenas, stealth paths, armor, cloak, scanning, and tactical options, but everything feels more controlled. More guided. More designed like a normal shooter campaign. That is my biggest problem. Crysis should not feel normal.

The good side
The city looks good. Ruined New York has atmosphere. The buildings are wounded, the streets are cracked, dust hangs in the air, and the Ceph infection makes the city feel like it is being eaten from the inside. The nanosuit is also the most interesting part of the game. In Crysis 2, the suit feels less like equipment and more like the real main character. Alcatraz is injured, half-dead, infected, and sealed inside this machine that keeps him alive. The suit analyzes, adapts, repairs, scans, and slowly becomes more important than the person wearing it. That idea is creepy in a good way. It is almost horror. A dying man trapped inside armor that refuses to let him die. But the game does not fully use that horror. It touches the idea, makes dramatic noise around it, and then pushes you into the next fight.

The gameplay problem
Gameplay-wise, the nanosuit feels simplified compared to the first game. Armor and cloak are the main active powers, while speed and strength are folded into normal movement. It is smoother and easier to understand, but less interesting to me. The first game was clunky, but that clunkiness gave it character. Crysis 2 is cleaner, but cleaner is not always better. Cloak still drains too fast for my taste. I often felt less like a predator and more like a battery with legs. So I ended up using speed and armor more than anything else. Run past enemies. Armor up. Recharge. Keep moving. That is a bad sign. When a shooter makes me want to stop shooting and just run past everything, something has gone wrong.

The upgrade system did not help
The nano catalyst upgrade system also did not keep me invested. You collect it from dead Ceph to unlock suit upgrades, which sounds good at first. But once I had the upgrades I cared about, killing aliens started to feel pointless. Why waste ammo? Why risk dying? Why stop moving? The Ceph slowly became obstacles instead of enemies. Speed bumps with tentacles.

AI, story, and noise
The AI does not help. Sometimes enemies act fine. Other times they behave like broken toys. They can see too much, then suddenly act blind. They can throw grenades again and again like someone got stuck on the grenade button. Sometimes you can simply sprint past the whole fight, and the battlefield becomes background noise. The story is also mixed. I like the idea of the suit becoming more than a suit. I like the body-horror angle. I like that Crysis 2 tries to make Prophet, Alcatraz, and the nanosuit feel more important. But the actual storytelling often feels noisy instead of powerful. Radio voices. Military shouting. CELL orders. Alien sounds. Suit warnings. Tactical scans. Explosions. Buildings falling. Sometimes it creates atmosphere. Sometimes it is just exhausting. By the end, I was not thinking, “This is exciting.” I was thinking, “I just want to be done.”

The good and the bad
The good:

Great ruined New York atmosphere
Strong graphics
Interesting nanosuit and body-horror ideas
Some solid combat arenas
Impressive destruction and spectacle
Important step in the series history
The bad:

More linear and boxed in than Crysis 1
Feels more console-focused and normal
Nanosuit feels simplified
Cloak drains too fast
Nano catalyst upgrades become pointless
AI can be stupid
Story has good ideas, but too much noise
By the end, I was playing to finish, not because I was having fun

Final verdict
Not Recommended from me. Crysis 2 is not garbage. It is not lazy. It has quality, and I understand why some people like it. But for me, this is where Crysis became more like a normal military shooter wearing a nanosuit. More cinematic. More controlled. More boxed in. Less free. I respect Crysis 2. I understand Crysis 2. But I did not enjoy it much. By the end, I was not fighting to save New York. I was fighting to finish the game.
только не смейтесь но мой комп тянет эту игру в 60фпс на минималках...
Лучшая игра детства. В 2011 году, летом где-то примерно в конце августа я поступил в 1 класс. Мне сейчас 22 года. Обзор от 22.06.2026

Crysis 2: I Spill Pepsis on My Keyboard Again.
Not that good anymore compared to the first one. Too melodramatic. Just another shooter. Comes off as a Crysis clone and not as the 2nd part in a series.
Super negative review. awesome game, ruined by Electronic A$$ as usual.. multiplayer was disabled with no substitution when it was shut down. They didn't even bother to remove the login screen. then the game is technically a mess, because when you alt tab, the whole screen moves into a corner forcing you to restart the game entirely. Great reminder to never buy games from Electronic A$$ tho
