Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell.

Despite some awkward mechanics that make the gameplay less intuitive, Darksiders 1 is a fun God of War and Legend of Zelda style game War controls like PS2 Kratos, save that your dash and guard are the same button. You get melee combat, spells, some ranged options, and a whole bunch of tools and passives, plus charms to make your weapons stronger Main enjoyment was the story and whenever you get large combat rooms. The story is simple but it has a decent curve of intrigue on why the events of the game happened. And honestly the sword combat is just satisfying, not exactly DMC levels but if they didn’t add the scythe and fist, I wouldn’t have noticed honestly. Plus you get to hear Liam O’Brian and Mark Hamill talk so that’s always fun! Quick advice, weapon xp is dependent on combos, so the grab finishers and spells don’t count to weapon xp (aka the awkward mechanics) 2nd advice, an early game chest that you can’t find needs you to break all fire hydrants in the immediate area The game is good, you’ll get 15-20 hours of main story content, and while the bosses tend to be weird slogs, this game is worth your time
I was enjoying this game, combat is really fun. However, this is a buggy mess, I had multiple crashes and finally hit my breaking point when I couldnt place the second sword in the twilight cathedral.

It's got style, art design, and a fairly good story in its favor. But it's plagued by inconsistency and downright frustration. It's glitchy. You'll find yourself stuck on ledges and edges, and the jump button sometimes doesn't work. The level design is frustrating, especially in the second half. If it's not failing to communicate to you what to do, it throws irritating waves of enemies and tedious puzzles at you. The Black Throne may be the most aggravating level I've ever played. When it's not actively wasting your time waiting on things to happen, it pummels you with poorly communicated puzzles and wonky controls. People call Sen's Fortress infamous, but The Black Throne should really hold that title and it came out a year before. And then finally, the boss design is just bad; which again, comes down to poor communication, and crappy controls. I had to look up the final fight because the game gave NO hint about what to do in the first phase. I still intend to give Darksiders 2 a shot when they fix the Deathfinitive Edition (having it in my library helps), but God help me if another Black Throne shows up again in that game.
Played this game at least a dozen times. Such a good burger and beer experience. Love this series, Highly recommend.
