About
Cursed Blood is a brutal 1–4 player co-op roguelike set in a twisted bloodpunk samurai world, where ruthless apes wield katanas in a revenge-fueled rampage against the mafia that desecrated their sacred Shrine of Vermillion.
The Shrine now calls for retribution — and it’s paid in blood, delivered through unrelenting katana combat and sheer brutality.

Mix both online and local co-op seamlessly — couch warriors and distant friends can join the same blood-soaked run.
Or go solo and carve your path through vengeance alone, armed with nothing but your blade and rage.

Dash, deflect, and dismember with samurai precision. Chain lightning-fast moves, brutal takedowns, and charged slashes into seamless high-speed melee combat.
Unleash devastating finishers and heal by consuming the blood of your enemies — every strike feeding the Shrine’s hunger.
Each procedurally generated level overflows with danger, secrets, and non-stop, blood-fueled action.

Rip weapons from your enemies and turn their firepower against them — until the ammo runs dry.
Then hurl the gun back in their face and unleash a charged katana strike to split them clean in half.
Blood sprays, limbs fly, and the survivors crawl away begging for mercy. None will be given.

Explore a stunning bloodpunk world where industrial-era machinery fuses with forbidden blood-powered technology.
Collect Blood Orbs from chests, bosses, and hidden loot to unlock deadly katanas and specialized gear tied to the world mutation you’re fighting through.
Earn Blood Orbs in battle to upgrade your equipped weapons and gear, evolving your abilities and carving out your own ruthless playstyle.

Face a brutal roster of evolving bosses — each mutating into stronger, more vicious forms mid-fight.
Slay them, take their heads, and offer their remains to the Shrine of Vermillion to restore balance through carnage.

Unlock World Mutations that twist the rules of combat and reshape every run. Conquer them to earn new katanas, powers, and endless replayability.
Cursed Blood is a relentless roguelike co-op action game — a challenge to master, a feast for the violent, and something to sink your teeth (and blade) into for hours on end.

Reviews
I almost returned this based on the content amount discussed in another review. However, after playing it I will support the continued development. The action felt good and I liked the map aesthetic. I will add more later but for now a thumbs up anticipating more to come.
cool
General
Don't go into this expecting insanely long runs (yet?) and complex, interacting effects/modifiers; it's chaotic (I mean, you are a samurai monkey) fun paired with relatively high-speed movement and combat. The game clearly targets a more speed/skill-focused playstyle — with finishers and bringing enemies into a finisher state, as well as reflecting bullets being core parts of the game — over just throwing masses of area-of-effect skills onto enemies.

The world feels detailed and alive with some more hidden parts and choices that make it feel slightly less linear, but you always return to a given path that leads you towards the next upgrades and eventually the boss of the mission. You aren't getting an open world by any means, but decently sized and branching environments for each mission.

Getting started
You start the game with a small introduction to the world and its characters and by selecting your character — a purely visual choice (4 different looks featuring 3 color variants). The beginning of the run (and multiple unlocks during it) acts as a tutorial for various different mechanics and feels very well-paced, while upgrades allow for different build paths (e.g., charge-attack focused vs. more attack speed and/or extra heal on finishers). The game always revolves around the "Balance demands sacrifice, greed demands suffering" mechanic and eventually makes you choose between certain benefits with attached "curses" (negative effects like 50% increased prices), or, for example, choosing between removing said curses or keeping your current gold. These options are also required to secure checkpoints during a run. I personally don't believe it feels too punishing at any point, due to the option of removing curses by sacrificing health (multiple times per run, at altars) you can restore via finishers fairly easily. On the way, you collect gold (used for shops during the run), blood (used to unlock, for example, new weapons), and various upgrades, keys to unlock side areas, and more, before ending in a boss fight that opens up the way to the next part of the run. At the current time, the average player will likely spend 45–60 minutes between starting the game for the first time and finishing their first run.

Gameplay & Progression
You start a run by selecting a character before being dropped into a new run. Finishing your first run unlocks the option to also choose between different melee (and now throwing!) weapons, while also giving you the option to check how to unlock (different amounts of blood collected in the given game modes) new ones. You also unlock the ability to switch from the "Regular Run" to one of the different harder options:

True Samurai: Double damage and health for enemies while blocking your access to firearms and healing you 50% less on takedowns.
Takedown Hunt: You are 25% faster; enemies don't drop new guns and takedowns heal 50% less — but you also need to take down an enemy every 60 seconds to avoid losing health.
Cursed Run: You get a random curse every 2 minutes; cleansing them costs 75% more at an obelisk (while said obelisks also don't provide curses), and enemies do 100% more damage (but don't increase in health).
Playing these modes and collecting blood will not only upgrade the stats on your equipped weapons over time but also unlock new options with different effects.

Issues & Bugs
The game — despite feeling chaotic and suffering from clarity issues in multiplayer — feels surprisingly polished for a fresh release, with only some (almost expected, given the freedom of movement) issues:

Terrain can be abused to, for example, hit enemies way below you.
The voiceover isn't terrible, but it sometimes feels like the voice is coming from everywhere but the expected position of the enemy — more like an announcer kind of deal with awkward filtering.
Terrain allows for some jumps that bypass entire parts of the area (or simply get you stuck directly), without actually progressing the stage at the time. A good example is the flame-grenade-throwing boss. If you jump to the right, hugging the wall near the entrance, you can get to an area of the map you aren't supposed to be able to traverse, including the ability to jump back down beyond the boss's locked gate. The result isn't finishing the area without a boss fight, however; it's your character being stuck behind a fence, while the boss throws grenades on top of you until you give up — with no way to jump back.
Walls and objects don't reliably block projectiles. Only some things blocking bullets removes a decent option for breathing room during fights (like dodging in/out of cover) and the strategic choice of forcing movement in ranged units while focusing melee ones.
Multiplayer is chaotic — and that's good, it's just the direction of the game — but it's also lacking visual clarity. Playing it solo can already be overwhelming when it comes to having a clear overview of where enemies are, where projectiles come from (the issue above amplifying this), area-of-effect attacks (like plunges and grenades), and more in some cases, and multiplayer pushes this even further.
Something I've only encountered twice is that animations/positions of guns on the floor can bug out, causing guns to "float" near your character like a backpack (a bit away from your character). This resolves itself during cutscenes and some other interactions, but you can't actually pick up the gun until it's resolved. Avoid starting other animations during a pick-up.

Conclusion & Personal Note
While the current amount of per-run content is fairly small (with a dev note of new content coming "very soon"), replayability in this kind of game really comes from the different modes and the fun you get out of all the chaos when playing it with friends and/or slowly but surely mastering the combination of movement and combat. I personally haven't experienced any performance issues or crashes, and at its current price point (~15$, even less on sale), you really can't go wrong.
Gorilla use sword. Gorilla use gun. Enemies go dead. Gorilla has fun.
Bought the game and returned it after 90 minutes of playtime. Basically beat the game in that time and could refund it. Tells you how much content is in this "early access" game. Can't recommend as there are better games for the money with more content.
I was introduced to this game before it came out. I was skeptical....Rightfully so. It could be neat, but the AI voiceover is absolutely awful. It sounds like gargled garbage. At best the game is okay...but theres a lot of annoying quirks that don't make it worth even $14 sadly.... Don't waste your time. Go play Hades, Hades 2, Shape of Dreams, Gunfire Reborn, Sworn, or any other game similar. They are just better.
