The combined movement of units pushes the difficulty far to high to be worth the time investment. The colorful paper craft visual style is well done but isn't enough to carry the game.

Obstacles and enemies will split your team apart making it difficult to defend everyone. Rest of your crew will inevitably die as a result. Goal is to get through 16 floors with at least one unit. Pretty much bad game based mostly on luck. [/h1]

I absolutely loved the presentation of this game and had high hopes for it, but it turns out the execution is rather poor. This feels like a concept that should have been eliminated during prototyping. Controlling multiple heroes at the same time seems like an interesting idea on paper, but it simply doesn't work out. In the end the game doesn't have the appeal of an RPG where you can get stronger and progress, and doesn't quite have the appeal of hand-crafted puzzle games. It just missed the mark.

The Nightmare Cooperatove is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a cheap lazy cash grab. It's a mobile ported puzzle game masquerading as a roguelike RPG, but it isn't. You need to move around each level carefully to collect the loot, kill the monsters if needed, and get down the stairs. Bump into allies on the board to get them to help you kill the monsters (but then you need to move two characters at once, which is not fun, it's annoying). The graphics are simplistic and rudimentary, typical for a mobile game. Mobile games don't belong on Steam. But that's not the big problem here. The greedy scumbag devs are charging $7.50 for this when it's $1.69 on the Google Play Store. Greedy, morally bankrupt bastards gouging PC gamers. Unforgivable and unacceptable.

you should be able to do something with the gold you pick up, heal your team, buy items, something that makes it worth picking up. This game is really repetitive, fun for about 20 mins.

[u][b]Full Review[/b][/u] So I decided to check out The Nightmare Cooperative again after last playing it some years back and it's basically what I remember, except the reality is a little worse. This is a rogue-like puzzle dungeon crawler that has you start off as a party of 2 comprised of random classes. They're standard fare for the setting: Knight, Archer, Wizard with a few others sprinkled in. They also have their own skill you can use assuming you have enough mana. Your objective is to make it as far as possible to obtain the highest score. You do that by trying to get the most gold as possible while getting to the deepest floor and not dying. Movement happens on a grid and enemies only move when you do, your party members also move to the same direction that you choose at the same time. You need to think about your moves ahead of time to avoid enemies & traps. The Nightmare Cooperative is clearly designed for mobile platforms, movement isn't the best on Steam when only having the arrow keys available and no option to remap any inputs. You can change the resolution on the launch menu so that's something I guess. There are also Steam leaderboards for your scores on each run. Ultimately, I don't think this game is very fun. It probably doesn't help with the bare-bones effort made to port the game to Steam but the experience in-game is really basic. There's very little variety with seeing most of what's available in a few runs. It doesn't help that there is no persistent progression either if you don't care about high-scores. The Nightmare Cooperative isn't worth $5 and might be worth checking out if it were offered for free.

The concept is good: A roguelike in which you control simultaneously a multiple characters (that means all move following the same orders). That makes every move a hard decision, and the game a challenging puzzle. Even though, there is no sense of getting better nor closer to the end. Every run is a new one. That doesn't sound too rogue-like to me, tbh.
