About
Cronos: The New Dawn is a brutal third-person survival horror where you fight for the future by salvaging the past. Burn monsters before they merge. Extract souls from the living. Adapt or die.

Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the line between past and future.
In the past, you will witness a world in the throes of The Change, a cataclysmic event that forever altered humanity. Meanwhile, in the ravaged wastelands of the future, every moment is a fight for survival against dangerous abominations that will test both your reflexes and your tactical thinking.
You are a Traveler working for the enigmatic Collective, tasked with scouring the wastelands of the future in search of time rifts that will transport you to 1980s-era Poland.

In a desolate world filled with ever-present danger, your survival hinges on your ability to strategize and plan ahead. The enemies you’ll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal.
You can manipulate temporal Anomalies to clear a path through the desolate environment, and will have to scavenge for resources to replenish your limited ammo and supplies. Good preparation is key. Once in battle, split-second decisions can mean the difference between life
and death.
The creatures you kill won’t stay dead for long. Fallen enemies can be absorbed by others — through a grotesque process called Merging — to become faster, tougher, and far deadlier.
The only way to stop them? Burn their bodies. And do it fast.
If you don’t, you’ll face ever-evolving abominations that will push your combat skills to their limits.

Your mission is to locate key people from the past who perished in the ensuing apocalypse. Using your all-powerful Harvester, you can extract their Essences and have them accompany you into the future.
But be wary: these essences have a profound impact on your journey.
The more you carry, the more haunted your suit becomes — increasing your prowess on the battlefield but also bringing with them whispers in your ear and flickers into your vision, edging you ever closer to madness.

First of all, this game is a visual and cinematic masterpiece. How did they even achieve this level of audiovisual perfection? Every scene feels like the end of a mind-bending movie, each audio queue immerses you deeper into the atmosphere. Top notch stuff. If atmospheric games are to your liking this one nails it and surpasses many that came before it. Secondly, the story is very dark and requires some mental gymnastics and collectibles to fully grasp, but I think it's all worth it in the end. Some things still remain unsolved, but I hope the DLC dives even deeper to answer some remaining questions. Also, dialogue choices don't really matter apart from the last one, but it's not a big deal because the story is very focused on unfolding one specific way which you either love or hate depending on what your expectations were at the start. Thirdly, the gameplay is a mix of RE, Dead Space and Silent Hill. It's perfect for lovers of all these great franchises, not so much for casual gamers, especially early in the game. The difficulty is unforgiving (they even patched in easy mode after release) but it's also fair. You will almost always have very limited ammo and after each fight you will survive by the skin of your teeth. But this gives a very rewarding feeling, because you actually progressed through your skill and not by unlimited amounts of ammo and buffs. Honestly, this game is underrated, more fans of survival horror must at least try it. If you especially love sci-fi, dark atmosphere and mind-twisting visuals/story, you will absolutely love it. 9.5/10
Overall I had an good time because the gameplay is very solid, the atmosphere is great, it's got a lot of unique ideas and the story's mysteries kept me hooked until the end. Unfortunately, this may have been the game that made me realize I'm maybe not really into "traditional" survival horror anymore. The main issue I had was that the inventory management is SO aggressive forcing you to spend rare and valuable resources to upgrade your bags just so you can carry one more thing. I know it's a staple of the genre and I'm sure for some people this is a lot of fun but what this meant for me ended up being at least a couple of hours of my 25 hour playtime spent running back to the storage chest at the last save point whenever I found something I wanted but couldn't pick up to deposit something, run all the way back to grab it and then all the way back and forth again to continue. I know this likely wasn't the dev's intention but...it's rare they actually stop you from doing it. The equally aggressive scarcity of resources through most of the game only cultivated this kind of loot hungry attitude. I'm a B+ kind of shot in videogames, not amazing but not terrible, and I found myself walking around quite often with like 2 measly bullets to my name and the fear that, if I ran into one of the very obvious battle arenas (watch for the explosive barrels) I'd be dead (because the protagonist punches like a wet paper towel until you upgrade). To be fair though, I don't think I ever actually found myself in a position where I didn't have enough to get by. I just rides that line very finely. That's kind of what I meant about that solid gameplay and, like I said, I'm sure there are lots of people who love that sort of thing but, for me, it was a bit more frustrating than fun. Also, those compelling mysteries I mentioned? Maybe half of them get explained. The rest just kind of hang there as the credits roll (even in the super special "you played the game twice" ending) which, probably by itself, brought my score down from an 8 to a 7. You could claim they "left it open to interpretation" but I tend to think that's usually a pretty cheap excuse to just not tie up your story threads. A game prompting the player to make more use of their imagination is a good thing for sure but I also didn't buy this game to write big chunks of the story myself. It sounds like I'm complaining a lot and I kinda am but A) the rest of what I have to say about this game is honestly pretty positive and B) most of what I didn't like about it felt like the kind of thing true enjoyers of the genre would love. All that said, it was definitely a fun few evenings and I don't regret it at all. If nothing else, buy it for the cats.
B A Y I L D I M
Oyunda 1-2 yer dışında "Tamam, artık her şeye hazırım." dediğim bir an olmadı. Onun dışında her yeni bölgeye girdiğimde tırsıyordum.
Having just finished the game I have some mixed feelings. Overall I enjoyed this game but lets get into the details. Good: - the games story is gripping, mysterious and engaging. I found myself invested in gathering new information to understand this mysterious and alien virus that has overtaken the planet - the voice acting and directing was great - the games atmosphere really fit the genre. the areas are stifling, mazelike at times, and clausterphobic. You aren't given a map so you'll feel anxious about if you're going in the right director, or if you're missing a key item or upgrade somewhere. you'll want to explore but be worried about what is lurking - the inventory management was akin to old survival horror in a way that has been lost in more modern RE. though this is also a bit of a negative at times. - there is an enemy mechanic that keeps the combat tense and you have to play somewhat proactively or you make the game harder for yourself The Bad: - the games performance is unforgivable. My computer is decent, I have a 3070TI and can play most modern games on high. I had to play Cronos on the absolute lowest graphics settings to get stable fps above 60 which lead to the game looking pretty bad - while i did praise the inventory management earlier there are times (specifically when having to carry around key items) where it really doesn't feel like enough and you'll have to do some annoying backtracking if you want to search every nook and cranny. - for some reason around the 3/4 way mark of the game it started leaning very heavily into cheap jumpscares. Now I normally defend jump scares when done right but I assure you these absolutely are not done right. - the games final boss is one of the worst pieces of garbage I have ever experienced. I won't get into spoiler territory but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it left the most sour taste in my mouth compared to the rest of the game Overall if you like the survival horror genre, and especially sci-fi themes I'd recommend this one just be prepared for some weak moments near the end.
Bloober Team is definitely making huge steps forward from creating "walking simulators" towards horror actions with more elaborate mechanics. Being "Dead Space" and "Resident Evil" fan, I enjoyed the game: intense combat was tough sometimes, equipment upgrade can be difficult without proper resourses management, and the whole story may seem complicated and vague, but involving, though. The overall impression was slightly spoiled by a couple of flaws: several unskippable cutscenes and the inability to reassign keys 1,2,3,4 in control settings. Still, i guess it's not so crucial upon all of the above mentioned pros. The best is yet to come, Bloober Team!
I've had a mixed time with Bloober. The Medium was... fine. Silent Hill 2 I didn't like at all. Observer I thought was outstanding. Cronos is their best work since Observer for sure. But I couldn't help thinking it had a bunch of missed opportunities. - Many of the mechanics had promise without fulfilling their potential. Like the anti-gravity sections, or the item spawn points. These could have had some really cool application in combat, but they were really only ever used for basic traversal. - The story and world were very interesting, but the character performances were oddly paced (a direction problem, not the actors), and the dialogue was in severe need of an edit for brevity; making the whole thing feel plodding, and uninspiring. - The art and locations were great, but severely lacking in variation. The time travel mechanic was a chance to mix things up, but the locations in the past looked just like the future, and played the same too - so what really was the point? Still, these are constructive criticisms, but I ultimately enjoyed and can recommend this.
Lots of strengths, some weaknesses. Excellent atmosphere and soundtrack to the game, hands down. The enemies(orphans), while having great designs, stay mostly the same throughout the game. You get some curveballs here and there, as well as some more advanced versions of said enemies, but you're mostly fighting the same thing throughout. I really like the concept of having to keep an eye on orphans you've previously killed because you'll leave one behind and next thing you know, you've come back and now it's being used by another orphan to mutate even further. The story, while not bad, is probably one of the weaker aspects because it becomes a bit too convoluted with the time-traveling and lackluster in the areas we're more curious about, like what exactly the Vocation was/is or how the Change originally occurred(though there are some interesting theories). The phylactery is another interesting game mechanic, with each essence you choose to keep or delete having an effect on your buffs(and psyche). Overall, I highly recommend it if you want an atmospheric survival-horror with excellent graphics.
