Control Ultimate Edition foi mais uma grata surpresa da Remedy. Depois de terminar Alan Wake 2, eu fiquei completamente maluco pra entender melhor esse universo compartilhado e resolvi finalmente dar uma chance ao Control. E valeu muito a pena. A maior qualidade da Remedy continua sendo a mesma: narrativa. Os caras criam um universo tão esquisito que você passa o jogo inteiro pensando "que porra tá acontecendo?", mas de um jeito bom. Escritórios burocráticos, objetos amaldiçoados, dimensões paralelas e uma quantidade saudável de maluquice. Não existe outro estúdio fazendo esse tipo de viagem. A gameplay também é excelente, principalmente pela evolução da Jesse. Você começa relativamente limitado e termina praticamente uma entidade sobrenatural. A telecinese é, de longe, a melhor mecânica do jogo. Você deixa de enxergar o cenário como cenário e passa a enxergá-lo como munição. Mesa, cadeira, concreto, empilhadeira, extintor, inimigos... tudo vira um projétil. A Service Weapon é muito divertida, mas, pra mim, ela acaba sendo quase um complemento. O verdadeiro espetáculo é sair desmontando o ambiente inteiro na base da força bruta. A progressão acompanha muito bem isso. Você realmente sente que está ficando cada vez mais poderoso, e o jogo sabe introduzir novas habilidades sem deixar tudo repetitivo. No final da campanha você está voando, desviando, explodindo salas inteiras e controlando o campo de batalha de um jeito muito satisfatório. Visualmente, mesmo sendo um jogo de 2019, ele ainda impressiona bastante. Joguei tudo no máximo, com ray tracing e 120 FPS, então meu hardware obviamente ajudou, mas dá pra ver que a Remedy já fazia um trabalho técnico absurdo naquela época. O único aspecto que envelheceu mal são as expressões faciais. A Jesse parece emocionalmente anestesiada o jogo inteiro. Ela faz praticamente a mesma cara em qualquer situação. As DLCs têm uma diferença enorme de qualidade. Expeditions eu achei completamente esquecível, parece mais um modo de desafios do que uma expansão de verdade. Já AWE é excelente. Como joguei Alan Wake 2 antes, foi muito legal perceber todas as conexões entre os dois jogos. Em alguns momentos, inclusive, gostei mais da história da DLC do que da campanha principal. Agora vem a pior parte do jogo: o mapa. Meu amigo... que negócio horroroso. É facilmente um dos piores mapas que já usei em um jogo desse tamanho. Em vez de ajudar, ele atrapalha. Várias vezes eu me perdi não porque o cenário era complexo, mas porque o mapa simplesmente não conseguia me orientar. No Alan Wake 2 dá pra perceber que a Remedy evoluiu muito nesse aspecto. Aqui parece que o mapa virou um boss secreto cuja única habilidade é fazer você andar em círculos igual um idiota. Também existem algumas side quests completamente esquecíveis e as Board Countermeasures parecem puro conteúdo para encher linguiça. Fiz algumas sem querer e nunca senti vontade de completar todas. Mesmo assim, quando Control acerta, ele acerta muito. O combate é extremamente divertido, a progressão da Jesse é excelente, o universo é fascinante e a Remedy mostra mais uma vez que ninguém mistura narrativa e bizarrice como ela. Não foi um jogo que me fez correr atrás do 100%, mas foi mais um que aumentou ainda mais minha vontade de acompanhar tudo que esse estúdio lançar. Se você quer entrar no universo compartilhado da Remedy, eu ainda acho que Alan Wake 2 é a melhor porta de entrada. Mas, depois dele, jogar Control deixa de ser uma recomendação e passa a ser praticamente obrigatório. Nota: 8,5/10.

I bought this game on sale last year, and recently just got into playing it, and I regret not having played it sooner. There is so much to like about this game. For one, the atmosphere and vibe are very unique, and nothing like I have played in recent games. It reminds me a little bit of The X Files, with its eerie, paranormal, and utilitarian feel. Even though the game takes place in a single building, and no outside environments, the world is always changing, and there are lots of surprises around every corner and on every floor. The gameplay (particularly the combat) is also really unique. The combat is sort of based around manipulating physics, shooting, and levitating/ dodging around enemies. The only problem I have with the combat is that it can get a bit repetitive over time. Enemies also have a tendency to appear randomly, which isn't necessarily a problem, but it can get a little distracting. Other than that, gameplay consists of completing a variety of missions, searching the environment for collectable items, and upgrading your abilities, and both crafting new weapons, and modifying existing weapons, and solving environmental puzzles. This version also comes with the DLC, which is a great addition to the game. If you want to complete all of the content in the game, it will take quite some time. I am a little over 20 hours in, and I haven't even scratched the surface. As far as story, it is a bit difficult to follow. The game sort of alludes to the fact that you don't really need to understand all of it. It tends to leave more questions than answers, but it is at least interesting and unique. I couldn't help but keep feeling like there was always some sort of evil agenda behind all of the events in the game, and the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control), the building and organization where the game takes place. All in all, I would definitely recommend it. The graphics are great, and the Ray tracing implementation looks really nice, especially on a 4K monitor. It is one of the better looking games out there despite its age.

O jogo é absurdamente incrível, a gameplay é muito divertida e flui bastante com a mecânica de telecinese, o universo é muito abstrato e louco, mas foi o que me fez sentir em casa, tudo nele é uma obra de arte.

Control is an OK third person shooter surrounded with amazing art design and world building. This is a game that rewards players intelligence and creativity. Pay attention to your environment - frequently "off" details represent some lore environment or secret. Strongly recommend it, especially given the (as far as I can tell, much improved) sequel comes out this year.
