About

Both colonists and monsters can find their way in your world. Build bridges, tunnels, stairs, overpasses and underpasses to make sure your colonists get where they want to go, and monsters don't! Plant a banner to start your colony. As you recruit more colonists, more monsters will try to invade your colony! Build walls, dig moats and construct forts to deal with the increasing threat.

Use an extensive science system to unlock jobs, blocks, upgrades and new weapons! Your colony will start in the Stone Age with just a handful of primitive jobs. Produce new materials, study clay tablets and scrolls, sell luxury items and advance throughout the timeline. Ultimately, you will be able to unlock gunpowder weapons, gliders, printing presses, rails and much more!

Advancing the tech tree requires resources that are only present in special locations. Purchase the resources in the marketplace for a high price, or find those locations using the astrolabe and build your own outposts on mountaintops, in swamps and other places. Use gliders and rails to move quickly from one location to another.

Easily launch a co-op server from the main menu, and invite friends to join your world. Share ownership of a single colony with multiple friends, or build your own colonies and trade items and science. It's also possible to use our advanced server tool to set up a more complex system. Extensive mod support allows players to customize their experience exactly as they want.

We regularly release fixes, improvements, tweaks and content updates. Here a couple of highlights from many, many changelogs:

Hard to recommend a game that has been in early access for 7 years. Just unacceptable and an abuse of the system.

Absolutely fantastic game. I'd recommend jumping in with 0 clue as to whats going on it will give a good challenge. The Things I like - Constant pressure to improve your Colony - Great building mechanics - You're progress is visually satisfying as you unlock and are able to use more as well as it is fun to watch how your Colonies needs from resources and defence shape the place you call home - Environmental audio is great and the choice to not add music was a good one - Lighting in the game from player placed lights give the fizz, I enjoy being able to walk away to a high mountain and see what I have done just based on where my light has reached. I played with 1 other person from the jump but I can imagine it being even more interesting with a larger group of people. My one wish is to have more than static guards and the ability to become my friends enemy. Conflict drives innovation Overall I would give this game a 4/5 star review, still some room to improve (Hence why its in Early Access) but its got character and I am looking forward to seeing where this game goes. Now I have to get back to building my mega castle my people are running out of food yesterday...
its fun enough but it REALLLLYY shouldnt be 25 dollars, this is like a 15 dollar game max.
The game is great, but not for solo, so if you have a friend, this game might be great...
This is a good game, with a fairly flawed mid game dynamic. So the main action is, you make food, and provide beds, then villagers spawn, and from that you build a town, with defence, and every night waves of nasties attempt to enter your town and you need soldier villagers to defeat them. The problem is, if your soldiers get defeated, you're largely screwed. By that stage, you'll have a large population, including lots of soldiers, and starting from zero population, and putting the town into siege mode, you really can't produce enough food to get back to a decent population, to get enough soldiers to overcome a similar wave. Without being able to load a game way back to a lower terror state (which means a smaller nightly attack wave), you really can't do much. So the game feeds somewhat unsatisfying. Small mistakes lead to basic permadeath. Hopefully they'll fix that, but otherwise its fun in the buildup, but frustrating later.
After purchasing this game I've had tons of fun playing, by myself or with friends. I only wish there were melee guards as the game starts to feel like a tower defense once you get into the combat. I would also like to request the ability to go to war with other colonies. As war could be a very fun aspect of this game.
There are many games I feel do not deserve a simple Yes or No rating, this is for sure the best example of one in my eyes. The game is great in many ways, especially as a game to play while you watch stuff... But wow is it ever lacking in content. I feel like I really loved this game for 5 or so hours, then replayed it a while later, got to a little over 5 hours again and just ran out of interesting stuff to do (for me). The sad part is this is just where the game opens up, that's where the real "management" comes in since you have to be a lot more efficient here. I found myself bored to tears after this point and not really motivated by the game to explore things further. I am sure this is the part of my review that will receive the most critique itself, but I can't explain much past being direct with how I feel. This game does not incentivize the player to push forward. So... I just won't. I'll let others that enjoy this game enjoy it, but for me it is missing the mark. The world is dull and just looks bland. I love the premise of this game, I really do and enjoyed what time I spent with it, but for $25? I just couldn't really justify recommending it at this time. This is why I leaned towards No. The reason for my uncertainty though is because there are super engaging and fun parts to setting your colony up (at first). But that all flies out the window later on IMO. A serious question to anyone who enjoys this game and or the devs: Why am I in first person? Why can I even place and break blocks? What does this really add for the player? I personally prefer first person games over overhead / birds-eye but still just find myself confused at the perspective / setup of this game. I'm sure people will disagree and argue about how this adds a lot of unique charm to the title, but I really can't say any of it feels unique- it just ends up looking (and playing) like a very bad Creative mode in a cheap Very Popular Microsoft Block Survival Game we all know of. Also, it has been well over 7 full years since this game got into Early Access. I'm so tired of games basically being a premise with varying amounts of meat on their bones until the developer either gives up on the game and moves on or finishes the game. The latter seldom ever happens, and when it does, it is even more seldom for the game to fit that original promise. Especially after what is approaching a DECADE. If anyone reads this and thinks "Oh well you just didn't spend enough time playing it!" This isn't a good argument. It is objective that gamers often quit most games prior to 2 hours in, the game should have me hooked around then. I am willing to give games some wiggle room, even lots of wiggle room in the case that the game has a beloved fan base cheering for it- but this one doesn't deserve it. TLDR: I don't think you should buy this game. It has the framework of a fun game, but lacks the innards of one.
Favorite game of the past couple years, especially since the last few updates (top down building with copy/paste, Outposts, Painting). I love to play on peaceful and watch my dudes work and play in the peaceful water at the beach near my city. also, I am super happy that Plaster is back, as It was my favorite building material when I first started playing years ago (I build modern constructions). I would appreciate some little woodland creatures (bunnies, beaver, otters, deer, butterflies, bees), fish, and flora, and also maybe motorized planes? This game is great and worth the money!
