Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword

One of the best games ever.

I've played the Civilization franchise since the original game. The Civ IV series is one of the best.

One of the best iterations of the Civilization theme, Civ IV, Beyond the Sword has highly addictive game play and is fairly friendly to processors and graphics cards.

Jos olisin käyttänyt kaiken tähän peliin käytetyn ajan gradun tekoon niin se olisi ollut jo ajat sitten valmis. Civilization IV:ssä herahtaa vesi kielelle ja dopamiinia erittyy ainakin pelin alku- ja keskivaiheilla. Loppuvaiheessa on jo monesti olo, että peli on voitettu, joten voi himmailla. Loistava peli kaiken kaikkiaan ja mielestäni Civilization-sarjan huipentuma ja viimeinen mohikaani, jossa ei vielä rangaistu kaupunkien perustamisesta ja maailman valloittamisesta samaan tapaan kuin näissä uusissa nurkkakuntaisissa kaupunkivaltioräpellyksissä. Great old game, just can't play anymore after I upgraded software.

This game is fantastic. Well enshrined as a classic now- and it deserves it.

Sid Meyers reached his best here, in my opinion; later versions are not any better and, sometimes, not as good. Cudos to Sid and company!

More difficult than "vanilla" Civ IV, Beyond the Sword is a great expansion pack for people who enjoy Civ IV but find themselves wanting more. In "vanilla" Civ IV, espionage is very limited. For example, I mostly use spies in vanilla Civ IV to scout enemy territory and evade ambushes from their units. In BtS, espionage has been expanded with great attention to detail. I am still only scratching the surface of the possibilities of espionage in BtS because it's an entirely new and complex game concept that I'm having to navigate while also doing all the usual world building stuff in Civ. I welcome any comments and insights from other players, I know this game is practically antique now so the few of us still playing are becoming a little thin on the ground!
