Lots of strategy in this game!
Seria interesante tener mods y poder modificar aspectos y poderes
This game is surprisingly fun and has lots of content to play through. It's more of a puzzle game without probability rolls like other turn based games. It's actually a little like gloomhaven gameplay that requires thinking and using the right characters to replay certain missions. I didn't find myself having to use different heroes to complete most missions but I did level up new heroes that join the team by replaying older missions to gain xp. I recommend this game because I play a few hours a game and still haven't completed the game after a week. Lots of missions to playthrough... a lot more then I expected.
Nice.
Capes is a superhero-themed tactical strategy game developed by Spitfire Interactive and published by Daedalic Entertainment. Instead of telling another origin story about heroes rising to fame, the game begins in a world where evil has already achieved victory. Supervillains have ruled King City for decades, superheroes have been outlawed, and ordinary citizens have grown accustomed to living under oppressive control. This unusual starting point immediately separates Capes from many other comic book-inspired games, creating a darker and more desperate atmosphere where every act of heroism feels like an act of rebellion. The campaign follows a newly formed resistance movement determined to challenge the regime and restore hope to the city. Players gradually recruit heroes, build a capable team, and launch missions against increasingly powerful enemies. While the overall storyline follows a familiar struggle between good and evil, the setting itself adds enough personality to keep the narrative engaging. The city feels like a place that has spent years under villainous control, and the consequences of that rule can be seen throughout the campaign. Citizens live in fear, heroes operate in secret, and every victory feels like a meaningful step toward liberation. The game's greatest strength is undoubtedly its combat system. Capes embraces turn-based tactical gameplay that rewards planning, positioning, and teamwork rather than relying on chance. Every encounter is designed like a puzzle in which players must carefully consider movement, ability usage, enemy threats, and objective priorities. Unlike many strategy games that use hit percentages and random outcomes, Capes places much greater emphasis on certainty and tactical execution. Success depends on understanding the battlefield and using heroes efficiently rather than hoping for favorable luck. Each hero brings a unique set of powers that dramatically alters how missions can be approached. Some excel at mobility and can quickly reposition across the battlefield, while others specialize in controlling enemies, protecting allies, or dealing devastating damage. As the roster expands, players gain access to a wide range of tactical possibilities. Experimenting with different hero combinations becomes one of the most rewarding aspects of the game because every character contributes something valuable to the team. The variety ensures that battles remain fresh even deep into the campaign. The teamwork mechanics are particularly impressive. Capes emphasizes cooperation between heroes through special combination attacks and coordinated abilities that reward careful planning. Rather than treating heroes as individual units acting independently, the game encourages players to think of the team as a connected system. Setting up powerful combinations often feels just as satisfying as landing the final blow on a major enemy. These moments successfully capture the spirit of superhero teams working together to overcome impossible odds. Progression systems add another layer of depth. Completing objectives and optional challenges rewards players with opportunities to strengthen their heroes through new abilities and upgrades. The advancement system encourages exploration of different playstyles while providing meaningful incentives to revisit missions and pursue secondary goals. Character-specific missions also help flesh out the roster, giving players additional insight into the personalities and histories of the heroes fighting for the city's future. Visually, Capes adopts a colorful comic-book-inspired style that fits its subject matter well. The heroes are visually distinctive, making it easy to identify their abilities and battlefield roles at a glance. Special powers are accompanied by dynamic effects that create a sense of impact without overwhelming the tactical clarity of combat. The game strikes a balance between spectacle and readability, ensuring that players can appreciate the superhero action while still maintaining full awareness of the strategic situation. The mission design consistently keeps players engaged by introducing varied objectives beyond simply defeating every enemy. Rescue operations, defensive scenarios, boss encounters, and multi-stage battles force players to adapt their strategies rather than relying on a single approach. Enemies possess unique abilities that can disrupt plans and create unexpected challenges, making every encounter feel distinct. As the campaign progresses, the game steadily increases complexity without becoming unnecessarily complicated. Where Capes occasionally falls short is in its storytelling. The narrative serves its purpose and provides motivation for the campaign, but many of its themes and character archetypes will feel familiar to longtime fans of superhero fiction. Some dialogue exchanges lean heavily into comic book conventions, and certain plot developments lack the depth found in the game's tactical systems. Fortunately, the strength of the gameplay more than compensates for these shortcomings, and the cast remains likable enough to maintain investment throughout the story. Another minor issue is that the challenge level may be intimidating for newcomers. While the game explains its mechanics reasonably well, later missions demand careful planning and a solid understanding of hero synergies. Players looking for a more casual superhero experience may find some battles surprisingly demanding. However, strategy enthusiasts will likely appreciate the thoughtful encounter design and the satisfaction that comes from overcoming difficult situations through clever decision-making. What ultimately makes Capes stand out is its successful fusion of superhero fantasy and tactical depth. It understands that extraordinary powers become more interesting when paired with meaningful strategic choices. Rather than simply allowing players to dominate enemies effortlessly, the game asks them to think carefully about every action while still delivering the excitement of commanding a team of superpowered heroes. The result is a refreshing take on both the superhero genre and tactical strategy games. For fans of turn-based combat, squad management, and comic book-inspired worlds, Capes offers a rewarding experience filled with challenging encounters, creative abilities, and satisfying teamwork mechanics. While the story may not redefine the genre, the gameplay consistently delivers enough depth and variety to keep players invested from beginning to end. Rating: 7/10
The core gameplay and levels are great. I understand some of the comments comparing it to XCOM and where it fall short, but in some ways you are trading the freedom of XCOM for a tighter and more curated gameplay experience. There are some really great ideas in here. If it's on sale, grab it.
I have mixed feelings about Capes. The story is fine but has odd pacing and a few unexplained holes that you're meant to infer. The characters are unique and interesting, but they don't really get developed much. The tactical gameplay is fun, but can feel restrictive. But qualms aside, I did genuinely enjoy this game and wouldn't mind another foray into this universe should a sequel ever arise.
