Encountered bugs in the first 5 minutes, overpriced
The aesthetic is great. Soundtrack compliments the tone. The gameplay is pretty cool but going from planet to planet with no content can be tedious. Battles are fun, if fairly simple. The game is well-polished. I am giving it a thumbs up, but I recommend waiting for a sale. https://youtu.be/rcIp-Xh_zIg
It's a combination of 4X, deck builder, and grid-based, turn-based tactics with unique factions. Terrific unit design, artwork, and battle animations. Battles were quite challenging so you'll have to use the full combination of unit upgrades and abilities to succeed.
If game does not allow save during mission it should be very stable. This is not the case of this game. I am getting both consistent (repeatable) and random crashes preventing to finish first mission after tutorial. Not recommended before fix.
It glitches easily in combat, it is unplayable. Restarted multiple times for different controls glitching each time.
At the time of writing I only played ~2 hours and it hard-crashed twice, and since there are no in-mission saves, I had to restart the entire mission from the beginning. This was extremely vexing. Maybe it's good if you dodge the bugs but twice in two hours in basically unplayable, especially when a mission can be pretty long.
Strictly speaking, I hate posting reviews for games I haven't completed the main game for, but I simply cannot do that for this one. I say that, because the game crashes or freezes in one way or another throughout the course of trying to play it. If there is a storm on the battle grid, game stops working. Every other mission, there is a repeat loop of the initiation sequence for said battle grid. I've had a visual glitch that kept stats of a unit on the screen for the duration of the mission. And all of this could have been overlooked if the game allowed SAVING DURING A MISSION. It's bad enough that every mission during the campaign starts up EXACTLY the same way, a feat that could have been avoided by just giving you a ship and total control of your home system, rather than forcing you to build the same 1-infantry fleet on turn one just to get some income. Add onto that the fairly lackluster variety of units, wherein the same 2 units can basically carry you through all battles with little to no trouble, and the missions go from potentially challenging, to tedious formality. Of the two resources that are used to make units, one is basically redundant, in that it is plentiful and the units that use it use almost none of it. In addition to this 'advanced' resource being over-saturated, the very notion of the games supply mechanic almost never comes into play. Now there is a perpetual upgrade system that is required to play through the game, but even that has acquisitions that you can simply ignore. Being able to reinforce your fleets from brand new, recently discovered planets adds a snowball feel to everything where money becomes the primary hurdle to overcome to win whatever mission you happen to be on. A wider range of units, with a battle grid that feels more interactive would be appreciated; as would an AI that places units in a bit more tactical of a setup, and maybe acted in a way that felt at least threatening. But ultimately, the game needs to either iron out its bugs, which largely seem to be around the AI freezing up in certain scenarios, and to include a mid-mission save. It's a single player campaign with no rogue-like elements to it; there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to save mid-mission. As with any game that prevents me from playing it, it gets an F.
Played the beta, bought the game. Unique exploratory travel/resource acquisition with turn-based encounters, As you advance, you'll be able to form multi-unit multi-skill squads (check out the dev's demo vid). Cool artwork and immersive audio ambiance
Interesting game play combination of space exploration and jrpg. I'm interested to see where the storyline goes. The design and artwork is pretty dope!
