About
What a steal! This old virtual pet game from the 90s was almost free at a yard sale two blocks away, and it was just the thing you were looking for!
Now it's time to meet Babette, the cute cat that lives inside this bright little casing. Babette is dying to play with you! If you keep her happy, you might gain a friend for life!

The more you take care of Babette, the more things seem off. Feeding her, playing with her, petting her... it becomes more and more difficult. She seems to be developing a mind of her own.
You hear footsteps outside your house.
Doors opening downstairs.
Eyes in the dark, staring at you.
Who is inside your house? And is this cute kitten trying to break free?

Throughout the game, you will cuddle up in your bedroom and play through five levels, each more difficult than the last. Keep Babette happy by using the unique button combination of the pet egg to perform mini-games:
Pet her!
Feed her!
Play with her!
Blood sacrifice!
Play hide and seek!
Do badly, and Babette will get mad. Balance keeping Babette happy with filling the progress bar to finish the level and make her go 'night night!'

After the events of the main game, you get vivid nightmares. It's like she's there, inside your head. The level begins, but this time it's different. So much more difficult. If you lose to Babette this time, you might lose it all...
Can you keep Babette happy?
Can you keep Babette contained?

A cute little horror experience. My only complaint is the key binds are not very friendly, worth a pick up regardless
As someone who misses the pet sims of olde and likes horror, I knew from the second I saw this Steam page that I wanted to play Babette. I was not disappointed either and the setting of sneaking to play with your Tamagotchi when you should be otherwise be sleeping was a bitter sweetly nostalgic one. Unfortunately, Babette is a grind. A fitting one, since it is essentially the same as a physical Tamagotchi
with the addition of blade(s) for a blood sacrifice.
However, a grind to the endings and through a nightmare mode nonetheless. I do not wish to spoil too much, but as you progress the tasks become harder and one in particular messes with my depth perception for hitting the right keys
the kibble
especially when it switches versions in nightmare mode. Artistically, Babette is probably set up exactly the way it should. Could it use some additions or updates? Maybe, just about any game would benefit from or could be more, however none of what I find abrasive do I think really needs a fix aside from maybe some accessibility or QoL settings. All in all, a good example of a game you do not need to be able to beat or 100% to be able to appreciate the design.
Awesome horror game in the "I found this haunted game" genre. I know some have complained about the mini games being monotonous, but I think that captures the "take care of this thing or it dies" games of the early 00's.
