About
Astroneers undergo rigorous training to explore the frontiers of outer space for the good of all humankind. Creativity and ingenuity are key to their survival!
Astroneers are trained to use the Terrain Tool, a powerful instrument which can dig, collect, shape, build, and color terrain in any way they wish.
Build custom bases throughout the solar system to survive and thrive anywhere! Objects are snapped into place in a modular system that allows Astroneers to create unique builds. Automation systems, crafting stations, power plants, resource harvesters, and railway facilities are built from the ground up and can be customized to suit any situation.
This unrecognized system consists of seven celestial bodies. Each of them can be explored entirely, from the rounded surface all the way down into the core. Astroneers will have to grapple with their unique geography and challenging biomes if they seek to understand them.
These strange worlds are dotted with mysterious structures and artifacts, while Astroneers themselves receive confusing comms from unknown sources. Curious Astroneers may seek to understand these anomalies, and with them, the secrets of the solar system.
While they're perfectly capable on their own, Astroneers are team players who are always happy to offer a helping hand! Group up with other Astroneers and work together in 2-4 player online co-op. Playing solo online allows fellow Astroneers to drop in and out of your world at their leisure.
Astroneer began as an Early Access title on Steam in 2016, and reached 1.0 in 2019. We wouldn't be here today if not for our community's support, feedback, and ideation. As we continue on our journey, we want to reiterate our pledge to continue building on the foundation that is Astroneer with free, ongoing content updates.

Astroneer. Imagine Minecraft, but from 3rd perspective, in space. The game looks beautiful. Gameplay is easy to learn and master. Mechanics aren't too hard, and mistakes don't entirely punish the player. I love the ambience, the multiplayer experience, and the ability to destroy everything on your path. Good 8/10
Imagine having to pay cash for cosmetics in a singleplayer game.
Maybe the most disappointing game I've ever played. It's got a FANTASTIC core, concept and vibe that's ruined by glitchy gameplay, generationally bad UI choices, clunky and unresponsive controls, a refusal to respect the players time, and devs who'd rather put out ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC and scummy paid cosmetics ad nauseum than actually polish the glaring issues with the game. I really, truly wanted to like it, but it grinded my friend and I down so hard we couldn't even bring ourselves to finish it after getting 80% of the way through. That's all you need to know. It's a bad open world game, a bad sandbox game, and a bad survival game. You'd be better off playing something else no matter what part of the game you're interested in. I hope it gets better and I get to change this review, but I really doubt it will. Please just buy a different game.
Poor UX and story integration make this an uncompelling slog of a game. I really wanted to like Astroneer. The terraforming is neat, but digging for resources is a chore and your extremely limited backpack space is so frustrating. Resource management in general is really tedious and annoying. Further, the exploration and mining quickly become boring and samey. The diogenic menus are neat, but just about the worst UI I have ever experienced. Finding which recipe you need, where to make it, and what it needs is an exercise in frustration. The help menus and tutorials are just a few screenshots that are overwhelming when you start and not accessible enough later on. You almost need a wiki on a second monitor to play this game. The only other thing telling you what you should be doing or why is some generic, uninteresting, unfulfilling quests that poorly fit in. I know there's some cool stuff but it's buried under layers of tedium. I've gone to other planets. I've dug way down (not all the way to the core). I kept playing hoping it would get more compelling, but I've given up. This isn't my first time playing the game but I don't think I'll pick it up again. Please hire a UX designer
