Reviews
A small preliminary review. It can be summed up with, i've had a blast with this game thus far and am eagerly awaiting what i think will shape up to be a detailed, unique and interesting take on strategy/3rd/1st person gameplay. The incoming updates (that we can see- helpfully their are 'coming soon' tags on certain buildings and units- will increase its depth and scale and allow for full-scale rampant warfare. Some key 'loves': The Setting- One faction in thus far (and i haven't really poked around much for longter-term hints and notifications on what's up next) and i love the style and 'lore' i guess that they seem to have- cyber-demons..rocking concept, reminds me very much of 'Sacrafice' or 'Atrox' (Ironic being this game could be argued to be a blend of the two concepts!), so the devs clearly have a vivid imagination and a very 'dark' take on their game-world. Something which frankly is awesome. The 'flow': The ease of transition between stratgy mode and first/3rd person is awesome. Its clean, its simple- its what makes this game for me honestly. Its interesting too that instead of the unit being a 'vanilla' one, those you direct control (and it really is/will be 'any' unit) become a slightly more upgraded version- larger and with 'hero' abilities- like being able to jump, jet pack etc- kinda like a mobo hero, plus of course the basic attacks- this adds something a little extra to the take, that other 'mixed genre' games lacked. The leveling of your 'controlled' chap also can have a big imapct on the tide of battle- but of course you can't be everywhere- and this is where the strategy is important. Strategy- at the moment its limited due to only a few unit types being available, but the bones are there for something great on the strategic front- the maps, taken from the current one in play are very large, there are also 'neutral' critters (A hive in fact) who one way or another can have a major impact on the battle- annoying travelling armies, but also in a major way if you work out how to manipulate/use them effectively ;). Player Controlled characters are game changers usually- though not 'gods' and can be relatively easily taken down by units- what's more as i said they can't be everywhere at once- two pronged attacks and luring etc are great ways currently to add drama to the typical war of attrition of most strategies- defenses are also a thing...and are scary, providing control over areas of importance where you like. Downside really is that there is currently particulalry one very effective strategy- to amass artillery chaps (awesome design) and cover them until they get in range of the rival hq- 5 or 6 i've noticed can insta-kill it, eliminating that faction- now this only works as said before due to most units not being out and released yet, the balance will definently change with the addition of counters, more defenses, wider bases, air units etc. All in all so far this is a game i'm very interested in. A massive well done to the developers- mixed rts/3rd person games are one of my favourite genres, and one sadly neglected so its great to see one done well, and with a bright future ahead of it. This is one to watch and support ladies and gents.
Abatron. I have to say I am very pleased with what I have encountered with this title so far. I have always been a fan of RTS games, but this one takes the whole damn cake. With a mash up of units that feel like Starcraft meets Doom, the ability to control any unit whenever, a leveling system for player controlled units that can sway the battlefield, and awesome backdrops and possibilities, I can say I fell in love with this game. Now I know this isnt a full review. The game is currently early access. But this is what I have come to believe after playing the game throught its PRE-release, up until this very moment. ABATRON is looking VERY promising, with many features already implemented, with a product that is backed by developers I have come to know over time. They have been hard at work shaping the game, and keeping the community informed, which was one of the biggest selling points for me. Developers that actually absorb feedback and conduct meets with their community. ABATRON offers a mix of RTS and FPS action. While the building and management is there, it isnt everything. Knowing how to level your player abilities controlling units, and how to counter enemy types is paramount. Much of the skirmishing before a large clash between players armies is done by the players themselves. Being able to personally control units has given ABATRON flexibility, allowing for different approaches other than full frontal attacks. The concept art and style is superb. Like I mentioned before, the game is very similiar to a Doom/Starcraft mashup. It is very stylish and different, and I personally am very excited to see what other factions arise and how they will compare to their counterparts. Between a human faction, to cyber-demon aliens, I can't wait. And its ease of transition from that of a commander to a warrior on the ground is seamless, and very enjoyable. Nothing beats watching a fight not go your way, and deciding you have to turn the tide yourself. There are improvements to be made, as with any game that is early access. The UI can be somewhat clunky here and there, but really never impacted my gameplay. AI pathing can be somewhat difficult, and sometimes weird things occur. But these are natural to an early access game, and Im sure it will be dealt with in time. As of right now, from what I have seen and experianced of ABATRON, I can in good heart and sound mind fully recommend getting this game if you love RTS games that push the limits of what we are used to. I give ABATRON a solid 9.0/10
Postitive: Love the art style, gameplay, and overall feel of the game, a good mix of first person, third person, and commander view. The game runs well and is very fun to play with friends (or the devs). The best part of this game is being in the first/third person viewpoints and being able to control your own units, teaming up, or going after the queen. Negitave: The UI is a little clunky, the map on screen is a little large, and you can see under the map if you go looking for it. The animation is a little clunky as well but its something im willing to overlook. Final Review: Very good gameplay, Fun to play with friends, It looks phenomenal, and I really enjoy it. 8.5/10 This is early access, so a very good score, I would love to see the negitaves taken care of, but other than that it was fun and super good.

First impression, I give it a 5/10 which is a decent score for an Alpha. I bought it for $15 which bumps it up to a 6/10. While I probably won't play it again until I get a better video card, it's certainly just as good if not better than other active RTS games found on Steam, which isn't saying much because there really aren't very many active RTS games on Steam. I only had to wait a few seconds before it matched me against someone in multiplayer so that's good. It seems that the resources are self-generated by your main building, so I don't believe there are any resources to harvest on the map so that's a bit disappointing and limits the strategic scope of the map. My 1GB video card barely meets minimum requirements and so the screen freezes every 7 to 10 seconds for a split second which can get kind of annoying but I'm not entirely sure if it's because of my video card. I have 16GB of RAM. The graphics reminds me a bit of 2004/2005 and doesn't seem very 2017ish. The concept is A+ as I love the RTS concept with the ability to take control of a hero on the ground. The game in its current state has some build options greyed out and says it'll be unlocked at a future date.
it has a good idea. but it hasn't been updated since august 2017 and there's still quite a bit missing. There are 5 units in the game not counting the ship you get at the start of each game. you can only control 4 of the five units. one of the four units you can control (The drone) does not have abilities or attacks, giving you no reason to use it for anything other than wallbuilding. the lack of offensive and or defensive units make this feel like a weird game of rock paper scissors instead of an RTS. there's a siege unit which is just overpowered. it can usually oneshot the other units. the siege unit cannot be controlled which is kind of a letdown. also as far as i can tell there are no flying units, but you can get anti air towers.
GOOD game!
SO FAR SO GOOD, has a great concpet and they had new factions with there own uniqe units
Game is Dead! No Updates will come!! and the Game is not finished too. Most of the Contents are locked and not play able. Coop is not working right, Enemys are to strong wen you not attack them first.
Abatron is a fun action strategy game that stands out among other games of this genre. What I liked about this game is the fact that you can switch between a strategic standpoint to the third person and to the first person. This concept made the game unique and tons of fun to play because I really enjoyed playing in the first person. I also enjoyed having as many units as I wanted to thus being able to throw as much as 30+ units at the enemy base at the same time, it felt really empowering and chaotic. The only bad thing I would have to say is that the game cost $19.99 in its current early access state which is unfortunate because you're only really going to get about 2 hours worth of fun here and that could only be increased if you are able to play with friends or find people online. Other than that I would recommend this game to people who enjoy such titles as League of Legends or Warcraft. Don’t miss out on this title though guys, I have a feeling it could be something big someday. Read / watch the full review here at: https://www.keengamer.com/article/16206_abatron-preview
