do i have all the achievements? yes, but do i regret getting them all? yes. this game LOOKS interesting, but i can promise that its one of the biggest sleep inducing games ive ever had the misfortune of trying. is it only $3? yes, but i would HIGHLY recommend you save those measly three bucks because this game seriously is. not. worth. it. EDIT: after much debating, and having the devs ask, i replayed this game a little after when it received its update. unfortunately, i still dont find the game much better than before and still wouldnt recommend it. HOWEVER, i applaud the visual updates to the game and the effort to add more lore as well. i believe disabling headbobbing and motion blur should be an option in the settings as well as volume. i acknowledge the effort it takes to make a game, and this being the devs first, i hope The Cooking Class serves as a suitable teaching opportunity. i would also like to note how i appreciate how vocal the dev team is with the people whove interacted with this project. i hope it serves them well.
was a little disappointed that it wasn't formatted for streaming. Caused stream to be severely laggy and ultimately crashed. I ran speed tests and check all of my system to be sure and all of my equipment was working properly and at proper speeds. it wouldlve helped to have in game control hub to be able to reference how the controls work (if there is one, I never found it). Basically, they tell you that you are on your own and you have to figure it out for yourself. I think some people would prefer an option to have a tutorial of some kind.
Fun game to play around with especially for the price
Anche se breve, è un videogioco divertente e consigliato a chiunque sia amante degli horror. Una piccola e piacevole sorpresa!
This is not a game, it is an ARG. First and foremost, the "wear your headphones part already has four hints". The phone number on the paper (haven't figure that out yet), the album cover that spells "THEGROVEAWAITS", the birth certificate you can find later on in the game. Thomas Dupont and Thomas Winter might as well be the same person. Who is real I didn't understand. Also the morse code, I cannot understand what it says but it clearly is a morse code. Hats off to the developers for putting such immersive stuff into the game. WOW. Hyper reccomended.
Clunky and unresponsive. No clear feedback or indication whether or not the buttons you're pressing are actually doing anything. No real game settings or options, and no option to exit the game until after you make it past the "intro" area. Subtitles take up half the screen. Examining items by clicking and dragging with the LMB is chaotic at best, but mostly feels broken for trying to actually discern anything useful from examining something. English localization is abysmal: While the game claims to have full English audio, count on the conversations being exclusively in subtitles with no spoken audio. The game recommends headphones for a superior experience, but the stereo effects make no directional sense. I have only regrets.
I wanted to like this game, but it is so poorly made that playing it was painful. - No real options to speak of. The only Options you do get are mislabeled. - No Saving, so if you Exit, you lose all progress. Since the game is full of bugs that force you to Alt-F4, this means that any time something happens, you have to start all over again. Why you would bother, I do not know. - Terrible text with misspellings and bad grammar, subtitle text that is huge, but moves too fast for the player to even read properly. - The NPC dialogue is terrible and literally doesn't matter, so it's little wonder why there's a buttom to skip it. - Bad camera that bobs and leans unnaturally - great for giving the player motion sickness. - The control scheme is limited and yet still manages to feel unresponsive a lot of the time. - Sound design is poor. Incorrect sound effects for things, and no ambience to speak of. - The actual titular Cooking Class is just a shallow fetch quest in which the Devs couldn't be bothered to even program the character cooking anything. - The only time there is voice over, it's too quiet and the never helpful subtitles don't even appear, so you can't tell what's being said. - Loaded with AI generated assets, including the Achievement Icons. In fact, a lot of the positive reviews praising it's supposed "meticulous, beautiful design" are obviously from bots. You need bots to review boost your game? That's telling. The gameplay involves listening to an NPC talk about things that the player never actually does. Ex. "Let's start by chopping the onions" - the Player does nothing but stand there, listening to the NPC prattle on as if they're actually performing an action besides walking about. It's illogical and annoying. The details are so lazy it's laughable. A pumpkin pie asset used in place of a meat pie, not once, but twice. Items just strewn about the house with no logic or reason to them - as if they were just being used to fill empty space. You can find 'scary' things, but the player character doesn't comment on it at all. You are not given a reason to care. Originally, the fact this game's story takes place in Nova Scotia was exciting, as my province is rarely featured in anything. But as a Nova Scotian, it made it incredibly obvious how little research the Devs even did on NS. Simple things like the newspaper from Halifax, all just made-up as if you couldn't find the real deal with a simple Google search. The VHS tapes are just footage of someone horribly mishandling meat with the phrase "Dispose of Human Body" as if it's pleading with the player to be scared. My Father was a butcher, and watching him work was scarier than this. There is no immersion to speak of, no mystery, no tension or reason to be creeped out. The concept is the only thing that is good, but it's executed so poorly as to be meaningless. I've seen earlier builds of the game that actually looked better than the current one in some ways. How do you actively make your game worse? I've played plenty of indie games that are far superior and at a better price. Why are they better? Because the Devs actually put in effort and it shows. This game feels more like a lazy cash grab than an honest effort at making a decent game experience. To charge money for this is audacious.

The game is very engaging, at first it feels like you are playing a cooking game and then it starts a beautifully designed horror story.
