This is my updated review based on the recent update. Pros & Cons List of Pros: 1. It features a nuke structure, new units/enemy bosses, & additional missions. 2. Features a variety of army men with their own unique playstyles, weapons, units, abilities, & structures. 3. Features a variety of battlefields/maps in form of missions for each game mode especially some maps/missions features a separate version with Halloween/Christmas aesthetics & concept. For example: on each of these Halloween/terror & map/missions they spawn zombie army men's, buffed insects, & worms that are hard to exterminate. Also Christmas maps/missions spawns all kinds of toy enemies, allies, & Christmas themed toys like penguins, snow men, Santa, & nut crackers. Note: zombie army men aren't a joke dont underestimate them because they can infect your downed allied units against you & zombie army men's are like sponges that can absorb bullets afterwards take long to exterminate them especially on harder difficulties. 4. Features split screen mode for four players to work together offline & to play online. Cons: 1. The alien army men class is very limited to just spawning few alien units individually, just one alien infantry, few alien vehicles like UFO saucers & an UFO walker. 2. The alien army men doesn't have much unique ness to him especially when implemented as an army men class & playstyle. Due to his lack of other miscellaneous it would be cool if there were alien/Martian buildings, defensive structures, structures that automatically spawns martian based units that automatically spawns UFO vehicles, & Martian ground vehicles. Ita disappointing because we're left of just to re use the classic army men units instead of Martian based aesthetics buildings, more martian based infantry, & vehicles. 3. The robot faction barely doesn't feature a Headquarters with robotic aesthetics. I've only found the robot army men's Headquarters at the Christmas mission/maps. This means whenever you switch the original army men with robot army men your Headquarters won't change into robotic aesthetics. Note: To fix this my only suggestion to the developers is that if player's switches army men factions every single mission/maps should spawn an HQ that represents each of those factions aesthetics & uniquess. Overall the game has improved a lot more. For its only disappointing that the alien army men doesn't feature his own playstyle, more vehicles variety, Martian based defenses, buildings, even lacks variety of allied alien infantry it only lets you just spawn one type of alien infantry that specializes only to use laser blaster.
This game is very sigma. The discord is very sigma. The developer is very sigma. The only thing that's not sigma, is when I don't play it.
it reminds me of when i us eto play army men as a kid
the nukes are goated
Ok to be honest i think this game is one of the top best toy soldier games i have played and i heard you can make custom characters and maps using mods that is Awesome but what i don't understand is why has no one made custom Toy story characters like Buzz Lightyear and Woody and levels like Andy's Room you can use and play on and other known franchises like Rambo, He-man, Small Soldiers, Sarges Heroes And so many other's. The possibilities are endless. That needs to happen ASAP. Just imagine playing as those characters and commanding them and units themed from there movies in toy form. Please keep this game alive ! and keep making content, levels, mods and customizable cosmetics.
it's good. That all.
its a fun and entertaining game and i do reccommend
Fun game if you loved Army Men growing up, does have a learning curve that takes time to even play the game effectively. After you figure it out, base building / defense / upgrading it slowly becomes more fun and you have more resources.
What's kind of crazy to me is the fact that the devs still update this game. And I won't lie, it's mindless fun and I enjoy it just for a return back to a imaginative childhood.
I've played so many army men games years ago, and i think this one could be a great successor to those classic 3DO style army men games, idk where that IP went but if N7T can get it maybe not a single person would mind. First of all, this is not standard linear action game as before, but combination of FPS,TPS, and Real-Time Strategy base building into one, if that sounds ambitious oh boy that is true, also you can get into any vehicle like tanks, planes, helis, turrets, how insane is that?. But mind you the controls and shooting mechanic are quite simplistic so don't expect much from that department. But then again this feels very early-access as far as you can imagine, i have several feedbacks to N7T teams to make this game even greater, one of the thing is the RTS mechanic, i can go to the map and control my units but i cannot build like barracks, factory, etc, so if they can implement that i think the time for building would be even faster and i will have a lot more time shooting enemies than building my base. The other stuff is balancing, how can i compete with enemies that had already tons of units and buildings at the first match meanwhile i just finishing a freakin medic tent, also the weapons in this game seriously need a lot of buffs especially when your enemies had these called "heroes" that has a LOT of health pool and damage. It does really feels a bullet-sponge at times, there is cheats u can use, but that's just a band-aid solution to these problems. Last thing from me is UI, they really need to improve this to make it more easy to navigate and shows you what factions, squad, or units you are using. Also how much is the xp my main character has because often times i forgot to upgrade my character because i need to promote them when i had enough xp. Overall this game really has a potential and many players have the same sentiment as i have, but the project as big as this is i think you need to cut the devs some slack, this is still indie and doesn't have a manpower of AA or AAA game studio out there.
