This game uses remote play with barely works half the time and they got rid of the free demo so you cant play online with your friend unless they also own the game. The game also forces you to download a third party app and forces you to make an account to play with people online, otherwise you cant.
great game
Very railroad, none of your choices matter.

I honestly had such a good time playing A Way Out. It's one of those games that's way more fun because you're experiencing everything with someone else. Even if your friend isn't really into gaming, the challenges are easy enough that you'll both have fun figuring things out together instead of getting stuck. The biggest highlight for me was definitely the story. Leo and Vincent are both super likeable, and I got really invested in their journey. I laughed, got stressed, got emotional. SUPER EMOTIONAL! You really go through the whole range of emotions by the end. I'd 100% recommend playing this with a friend. It's also the kind of game I'd love to gift to someone just so I could watch them experience the story for the first time. Definitely worth playing.
Day 1 The game starts off pretty cutscene-heavy. It takes a long time before you actually get down to the gameplay. Once it does, though, it’s pretty fun. We were kind of taken aback that the game is split-screen the entire time, so just keep in mind you’re always going to be seeing your partner’s screen. It actually works pretty well for puzzles since you can see what they’re doing. It’s definitely different from what I’m used to playing. There aren’t really any consequences for failing because you usually just restart at the checkpoint, so it feels like a step above a Telltale game where you’re getting a little more gameplay. One of my favorite parts was having one person act as the lookout while the other removed the toilet, and all the little puzzles throughout the prison to slowly work toward escaping. Then the game kind of turns itself on its head by having you escape much earlier than I expected. It made me think there was something much bigger going on than just a prison break. So far, pretty good first impression. ⸻ Day 2 Day two started kind of rough because we ran into a glitch where we couldn’t progress without restarting the checkpoint. We wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out because the game has so many little optional interactions that we thought we had just missed something. The amount of cutscenes also started getting to me. We just wanted to play the game. I know that’s not really the game’s fault, but this isn’t Metal Gear Solid 4. It felt like every time we’d get going, another long cutscene would pop up. There was also one mission where you’re not supposed to take damage, and we swear the game eventually just gave us a mercy pass because we kept getting hit. By this point the story was getting really sappy for me. It wasn’t terrible, but it just wasn’t grabbing me. The game still felt like a Telltale game with just a little more gameplay mixed in. I still liked it overall, but we were already starting to feel like we just wanted to finish it and move on. ⸻ Day 3 By day three I had pretty much lost my patience with the story. It just kept dumping exposition on one character, then the other, and I honestly just wanted gameplay. The hospital section was actually pretty cool, but then the game would stop for things like getting change for a payphone or other little story moments that just dragged everything out. It still felt like a Telltale game that’s been upgraded with a little more interaction. I wasn’t hating it—I was just constantly waiting for it to let me actually play again. I also had a nasty Unreal Engine crash toward the end of the game, but I think I managed to fix it. ⸻ Day 4 (Final Thoughts) By day four we were basically over it and couldn’t wait for it to end. Ironically, this is when the gameplay finally got really fun. We were shooting people, using different tricks during combat, and it finally felt like the game opened up. Unfortunately, it still kept interrupting itself with more cutscenes. The story just never landed for me. It was so corny that I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be serious or if it had crossed into “so bad it’s good.” The twist at the end didn’t make much sense to me. I don’t understand why it happened, how it happened, and honestly I didn’t care anymore by that point. I was also surprised there isn’t even an achievement for beating the game. Overall, we were just happy to finish it. I really wish Steam had a “Mid” button because that’s exactly where I’d put this game. I wouldn’t say I don’t recommend it because I can definitely see people enjoying it, especially if they want a cinematic co-op experience. It just wasn’t our cup of tea.
