Wuchang, a souls like that made me pleasantly surprised and made me question my life. Before buying this game, I heard and read many negative opinions, being too difficult, confusing, etc. etc. Im happy to say that most of these complaints are not true (or at least not anymore because most of the issue seems to belong in its 1.0 patch) but there are still some things that im iffy about. First, difficulty. Without a doubt, Wuchang is probably one of the hardest games I played recently, and definitely the hardest Souls Like I played. Why is that? Beacuse of the boss and level design. They are tough, man, like really tough. Some areas in the game made me almost just want to quit the game, and the early game bosses were straight up nightmares. Levels being hard was the fun part though (cept for the final area, that was just miserable). Early levels of Wuchang were definitely the highlights of the game. Cant say too much about bosses. One of the biggest weakness for me about this game is the awkward quality of bosses, I feel like. Early game fights made me think that the rest of the game will be filled with really terrible bosses, but thankfully boss quality gets good after first few. Bosses picks up nicely around the end of chapter 1. However, not every boss after the first chapter was good, or even decent. I even can say half of the bosses in this game were kinda not fun, some (looking at you, Tiger), but there were some straight peak bosses. (Honglan has gotta be my favorite fight in this game for sure.) Most of these difficulties with bosses and levels were my fault, tho I admit that. Unlike Fromsoftware’s games, in Wuchang your armor matters a lot, I feel like. There are some brutal experiences with status effects in certain areas if you don’t change your armor accordingly, and I don’t like that personally. I am a type of person who doesn’t like changing his gear specifically for one single area, so it always annoyed me to change my gear to counter a deadly status effect that can kill me easily. The game also heavily incentivizes you to reset your stats through the game multiple times. Some bosses may seem though, but they have huge weaknesses towards certain weapon types or elements. Now thankfully, the game doesn’t punish you for resetting your stats and is 0 cost, so you’re free to experiment in many ways as you like. That doesn’t mean you cant finish the game with one build though. I finished the game with one build only and didn’t felt like resetting my stats, so don’t feel pressured or think that the game forces you to change your builds all the time. Combat wise, the game was a 10/10 in combat department. Its a mix of Sekiro with Elden Ring, I feel like. Every combat system in the game blends together nicely. You can play it like a classic Dark Souls game by just dodging then hitting, orrr you can take advantage of your weapon skills, spells that you obtain through the game, to push the combat to next level and have some of the most fun combat experiences in a Souls Like. In my 30 hour playthrough, I never felt the combat was bad. Every weapon type felt fun to use. Magic system was really good, and weapon skills were also quite the highlight for sure. But sadly, I definitely can say that this game really made me run out of patience in certain aspects. (Seriously, the amount status effects that I had to deal with pissed me off so much, in a specific area in the early game.) Im ngl, this is probably a me issue, so experience with negative status effects can vary depending on the player, but personally it was dreadful. Lastly, the “Madness”. Wuchang has a system where if you die too much, you supposedly get punished (not even sure if its meant for punishment) with couple of effects, like taking more damage, but eh? It definitely felt more of a reward than a punishment. I even can say that playing the game in this state made me more safe. Its not really a failure of a system because some skills do incentives to be on this state by giving you juicy bonuses, so that was definitely one of the more surprising positives of the game for me, but also a negative? I don’t know how to describe it, but like it makes couple of aspects, like bosses, way too easy. Not going to too much depth because this review is getting too long, but just know that with the right skills, Madness makes this game a breeze almost. I can write more in depth, but I wanna close off the review. Some pros: Amazing ost. Good customization. Fantastic voice acting. Every weapon in the game felt fun to use. One of the most fun magic system in any Souls Like. Visually looking good. Rewarding exploration. Some Negatives: The first 2-3 hours of the game is kinda slow and demoralizing. Skill tree can be overwhelming to get used to. Some bosses are just not it. Tiny bit of performance issues (mainly the game is kinda slow and unstable at launch, but gets stable and smooth really quick). Main character definitely should had more lines instead of being a silent protagonist. Overall, a decent Souls Like for sure. Its not the best one I played, but its definitely a worthwhile experience, thats for sure. Would recommend, but prepare for a difficult journey.
i very good wukong clone so far loving it
可以
Still have yet to revert the silly changes. I have had this sitting on my SSD, hoping that the change would happen, like an idiot.
nice game but isnt well optimized
只能说没啥意思无聊死,为了恶心人而恶心的套路是真蠢!一周目都玩不下去还指望多周目能玩下去吗!学学好的别光学其他魂类的缺点ok吗!活该被骂
