About
Worlds Upon the Wind is a peaceful roguelite deckbuilder about rebuilding a shattered civilization after the apocalypse. Shape forests, deserts, and ruins through careful planning and resourcefulness, rather than conflict. Guide settlers across drifting world shards, nurturing new communities and weaving new traditions as you restore life to forgotten lands. Embark on a journey of restoration and community in this tactical game for those who prefer to take their time and weigh their choices.

Assemble your deck from hundreds of powerful Glyphs and unique Relics, each offering new strategic possibilities. Use glyphs to transform the environment and manipulate your chances with powerful invocations. Craft glyphs, balance your deck, and develop unique builds to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and challenges.

Face hundreds of dilemmas with no right answers. Keep wildlife at a distance or invite them into your cities? Preserve violent artwork or destroy it? Sacrifice safety for dangerous alchemical experiments, or seek harmony at the cost of productivity? Choices shape the outcome of your expeditions, as well as the contents of your deck.

Explore procedurally-generated world shards filled with different biomes, events, challenges, and opportunities. Every choice shapes the fate of your settlers and grants new glyphs and relics to transform your deck. Every run offers unique gameplay opportunities and insights that unlock new skills for future runs. And every budding community you establish leaves a mark, no matter how small.

Pacify restless spirits haunting the world shards, and befriend 15 unique animal companions through their own questlines, each offering a game-changing ability to help in future runs.

Immerse yourself in a unique visual style that traces the evolution of Japanese art from ancient picture scrolls to the different styles of Japanese woodblock prints. Serene landscapes, gentle music, and classical hand-painted scenes invite you to reflect and savor each moment as you're planning your next move.

If you're learning Japanese, this game offers completely optional kanji learning minigames with thousands of vocabulary and example sentences to complete, deeply integrated into the game, as well as options to display titles in kanji or kana, with dictionary tooltips.

This game is crazy intensive, I've spent 4 evenings playing 6 hours each just to stumble upon impossible goals food+safety 500 each with the only possible location left right in the middle of desert. Probably missed out on an achievement about 100% completing the Shard. Very cool concept, I've enjoyed the game thoroughly and atmosphere is incredible, but I'm drenched in sweat somehow after fighting for my life against hauntings and meticulously planning how to slot everything. Managed to assemble deck with a lot of draw and The Loop card and 40+ relics. They have a lot of synergies and it was very fun to play every card. But I think i've finished playing the game for good, burnout is real. 9\10

A fantastic game that also doubles as a great way to practice kanji.
Great game, simple but tiered mechanics that pile up where you're forced into fair but consequential choices, plus the deckbuilding choices are fun with the frequent remove option. The game does a good job sliding you into the mechanics and adds elements as you go. Only time I got stuck was very start where I didn't realize I had to click the "foray" button (which I thought was a prompt) to pick a new settlement spot. Reminds me of the deckbuilder version of Old World which felt similarly elegant in mechanics. Japanese overlay is fun and visually appealing, and in the optional minigame I'm re-learning a Kanji when I'm a few inspiration short of some upgrade I want. But if you have no interest in that don't let that dissuade you, like I'd get way more inspiration-per-minute if I just embarked again.
A great game. I love the style, and being able to see the original art is awesome. I love the gameplay loop and the deckbuild is always interesting because you always have a different goal. The meta progression is fun, and has a good balance to it. I love that the devs keep updating the game and are adding quality of life features.
The game is as beautiful as everyone has commented already, but I cannot believe how much I am enjoying this game so far. I haven't even unlocked much of the meta-progression and I can already tell this game has long, long legs.
It's pretty but I haven't the faintest idea what I'm doing.
Absolutely lovely game
It's a fun and well worked out game. I hope more kanji cards are added on regular basis. If you know or study Japanese this game is worth looking into
It's okay. It may look intimidating on the surface but it is actually incredibly simple. Too simple, actually. It gets stale very quickly. I can tell there was a lot of love and care put into this game even if it isn't my cup of tea.
