About
Worlds Upon the Wind is a peaceful roguelite deckbuilder about rebuilding a shattered civilization after the apocalypse. Shape forests, deserts, and ruins through careful planning and resourcefulness, rather than conflict. Guide settlers across drifting world shards, nurturing new communities and weaving new traditions as you restore life to forgotten lands. Embark on a journey of restoration and community in this tactical game for those who prefer to take their time and weigh their choices.

Assemble your deck from hundreds of powerful Glyphs and unique Relics, each offering new strategic possibilities. Use glyphs to transform the environment and manipulate your chances with powerful invocations. Craft glyphs, balance your deck, and develop unique builds to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and challenges.

Face hundreds of dilemmas with no right answers. Keep wildlife at a distance or invite them into your cities? Preserve violent artwork or destroy it? Sacrifice safety for dangerous alchemical experiments, or seek harmony at the cost of productivity? Choices shape the outcome of your expeditions, as well as the contents of your deck.

Explore procedurally-generated world shards filled with different biomes, events, challenges, and opportunities. Every choice shapes the fate of your settlers and grants new glyphs and relics to transform your deck. Every run offers unique gameplay opportunities and insights that unlock new skills for future runs. And every budding community you establish leaves a mark, no matter how small.

Pacify restless spirits haunting the world shards, and befriend 15 unique animal companions through their own questlines, each offering a game-changing ability to help in future runs.

Immerse yourself in a unique visual style that traces the evolution of Japanese art from ancient picture scrolls to the different styles of Japanese woodblock prints. Serene landscapes, gentle music, and classical hand-painted scenes invite you to reflect and savor each moment as you're planning your next move.

If you're learning Japanese, this game offers completely optional kanji learning minigames with thousands of vocabulary and example sentences to complete, deeply integrated into the game, as well as options to display titles in kanji or kana, with dictionary tooltips.

Very good game. A bargain for the price. Good meta progression, story and overall aesthetics.
Wonderful game, very much a different pace to most rogue-likes. It's difficult to fully categorise - a kind of deck-building, episodic civ builder, as although each expedition (run) is self contained the home screen begins to populate with 'visitors' from previously settled territories. As other's have commented, it has clearly been developed with deep affection for its subject matter and serves as a soft cultural education experience without ever feeling pushy about it. Excellent stuff for those that like a slower, puzzle-like approach to rogue deckbuilding.

Chill game with a good combination of deck building and puzzling. Well integrated theme.
Great game, really fun and clever mechanics. Definitely worth a pick up for the price.
If you want a chill rogue-lite that is easy to grasp and stress-free, then this is a great little game. The mechanics, music, art, and immersion are all unique but familiar.
I should start keeping a tally of favorite games introduced to me by Retromation. This game is absolutely lovely. After Reto's video, I thought about it for a whole day, downloaded the demo and played for about an hour the next day before deciding to just go ahead and buy it. The demo sounds fairly large, but I knew pretty quickly I would be sucked into this—and so I have been! It's REAL hard to put down. The art style and music are both gorgeous. There's a whole codex full of the public domain art used in game, giving background information, histories on various art styles and spirits, etc etc. There's also an optional Japanese learning mode, which isn't for me but is very neat to have for those who want/need it! It's fun exploring the different events and accompanying vignettes. Particular choices and ways of settling the shards influence what happens in the future and what choices are available to you. If you establish a unique culture in a shard, you slowly get to read the history of it as you play; there's something about this specifically that reminds me of Wildermyth (another fave game Reto introduced me to). You can pretty much take things at your own pace and get to the quests whenever, although the farther you get the more things you'll unlock. There's a bit of strategy involved as usual for all deckbuilders, especially once hauntings unlock. Being able to see the outcomes of choices you've made before in events is brilliant and helps with later runs. This game being ten dollars is absurdly modest tbh.
