Genuinely such a fun game! Started playing a while back now, quit playing for about half a year, and recently got back into playing the game today actually, and boy is it fun, THOUGH... There are problems... There are some bugs here and there, like the fact that sometimes i can not reload by weapons during really dire situations, I can't walk sometimes, but otherwise it's really solid game for a Vr warhammer game!! When i first saw the Chaos spawns they really freaked me out, the scorpion boss was really fun took a while to understand how i avoid one of it's attacks, and near the end, the enemy there was SUPER cool, as it's an army i am currently trying to build Oh and the Chaos Knight fight was super cool too! Really really cool to see a Knight up close Right now I think i'm nearing the final boss rn, so.. Imma edit this review when i beat the game!! EDIT: This was an amazing game, Really like the final boss, did not expect that twist at all, I think you should definatly buy this game if it intrerests you!! the final boss took a while for me to actually know what the hell i was supposed to do, but then it flowed like butter, Just wished the final boss had more than one phase, and had more than two attacks, but nonetheless it was a really solid game
So... It's an okay game, not great, not bad. Long story short, the feeling is rather here, it's nice shooting bolters and the chainsword feeling is truly nice^^ (shame I played with power sword most of the game -_- ) Now, there's some major problems: the graphics are rather bad, with most of the maps being just corridors and almost empty rooms. I mean, not really empty, on a game-designing level they're nice, but they lack that w40k vibe in my opinion. As for the story... let's just say I wish we had multiple endings, like an ending where we side with the final boss and fight our companions would have been great ! But anyway, brings me to another complain: The boss fights are bad, like, ending the game on a GatorGolf gameplay is rather frustrating. Another complain: either I didn't get it, or the meltagun is just broken and never firing correctly, ended up playing without it. Oh, and I don't think there's co-op yet in the game, despite what the steam page says, but on the other end I don't know anybody else with a VR set ready to play with me, so I don't care :p Now, a good thing that kept me in the game; is difficulty is good: never died that much in a VR game. You clearly gotta focus and play well and that's nice ! Truly the only moment I didn't fear I'd screw up was against the 2 bosses. (ok, I died on the scorpion because I tried that damn meltagun !!)
This game is genuinely pretty good, I feel like updates might've really improved this title over time. It's a great 40k VR experience and it's pretty fun to play, would recommend.
It's a Warhammer game. Question #1: Does it have Warhammer in it? Yes, it does have the grimdark vibe and the atmosphere that we, as fans, crave, and it's enough to give a positive review. Jokes aside, though - it's very low-budget, and it shows. The graphics are... passable, but nothing to write home about. The bloody carnage in the Emperor's name? Present, but the shooting and the striking could really use more, better impact. Not saying it should be Space Marine II level gore, but it doesn't even compete with Space Marine I in the satisfaction department. The bolt pistol and boltgun don't really feel like you're firing a handcannon with exploding rocket rounds, doesn't turn cultists into bloody mist... In fact, the bolts don't seem to be much stronger than lasgun shots, and that's a crying shame. One of the few guns that fealt really powerful and satisfying to use was the Melta (not the flamethrower, but the close-range plasma "shotgun"), but it's ammo is very limited. Sound design and voice acting isn't amazing, but it works. The music could use a lot more "Oomph!". Core gameplay loop, however, is solid, and once you've synched with the flow, you're knee deep in cultist and demon guts, and you hardly notice low-res interiors and enemy models from 2010, subpar gun experience. Performance and optimization is also solid. I'd give it a strong 6.5-7 out of 10. If you like 40k and own a VR headset - play this game, get your dose of the Emperor's Light!
If you are a fan of 40K, you will like this shooter. It does some nice fan service, but also has the same flaws as the first Space Marine game, in that the levels are pretty samey and all you do is shooting with only solving a minor puzzle here and there. As for the weapons, the game gives you all the basics you would expect from a 40K game. A Bolter, a Boltpistol, a Flamer, a Chainsword or a Lasgun, which even your character makes fun of. What I did miss though was specific Sororitas gear, like the Infernopistol, the Eviscerator or their double Meltas. What I did like though was that a weapon from Space Marine made a return. Which also leads me to the point that you are supposedly a Celestian, but you don't really feel like one. Another thing is that the combat feels rather slow paced. I guess that may be the fault of VR, but it does feel very static, since most enemies rather stay in place instead of pushing their advantage, with Chaos Space Marines being the only exception. It does get better towards the end of the game, but most of the time I wished that it was more frentic. And the bossfights are lame, like "do this specific gimmick three times, because they are invincible otherwise" lame. But despite all of these, I still liked it. I can see why non 40K fans would feel mixed about it, but if you are a fan, this does a nice job. And having a story with a Sister of Battle as the main character is a nice novelty.
I'm really disappointed. This game for 2022 feels like 2017. Graphics even maxed are really bad. Even has bugs. Not sure how it got such high ratings.
I love this game.
