First things first the only huge map in this app is also in Blackwater Bayou VR which is pretty old and delisted so VR Walking Simulator is just repackaged old assets. Your menu system has a lot of options thankfully but it looks very ugly and the only map I would consider worthwhile to relax in is the forest. The issue is though that the game has so much pop in the idea you would be enjoying walking around is crazy. Is there any value, okay yeah this is dirt cheap and there are some birds by the water in the forest stage and I think that is relaxing but this feels like a 2017 VR game that you randomly see on Vive Infinity and not a brand new VR game to get excited about. I don't recommend it, just go for a walk in VRChat, every aspect will be better.
I've been waiting for more content like this since I got my Valve index and loved the tech demos where you enjoy nature outdoors. This game is exactly what I had been hoping for. You just walk around and enjoy a nice scene when the weather in the real world sucks outside. My only complaint is that it's too easy to accidentally pick up the camera or menu off of your waistline. Means I have to keep my hands raised in an unnatural way while walking. How about an option where the player can stash them in a backpack Alyx style? 5 bucks is fair and I hope the developer keeps going with this. If you make future scenes please try replicating some areas or trails from real life Canadian national parks. Also add some beaches! I don't really care for the alien / haunted mansion stuff. Also one reviewer said this is like VRChat... nope. Completely different vibe.
👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
English: -------------------------------> The VR Walking Simulator by Atahan Ozturk is, well, a walking simulator. Personally, I don't know exactly why people put on VR goggles to walk in an artificial forest. I'd rather go to the real forest. But anyway. VR Walking Simulator offers us 5 different scenarios in which we can wander around. But first we are at home in our apartment. There is a map there that explains us how to use the program. We can only see a Rift controller, but it works the same way with index controllers. Funnily enough, the program is only written out for Index and Vive. On a desk is an instant camera, which is operated either manually by pressing a button or trigger of the respective hand. We also have a menu card on our belt. This doesn't look very pretty, but it offers a variety of setting options. So far so average, we set off on our first walk. The Forrest, the forest, however, is only a small Hein surrounded by nearby hills. Here and there birds fly awkwardly through the area. In principle, everything looks very nice, there are a few inconsistencies here and there. Trees are not always completely grown with the surroundings. But the worst thing, unfortunately, is that even close objects pop visibly and especially the shadow and light effects fade up and down involuntarily. This is especially noticeable in motion. The footstep noises are always the same, no matter if we walk over wet ground or dry branches. The music is kept atmospheric and can be turned off. This at least makes the forest a bit more natural. Interactions are not provided. You can simply reach through objects. All this, despite the beautiful graphics, is not immersive enough. The Alien Forest, is basically just like the Earth Forest, only with really great looking alien plants. This forest is even smaller than the normal one. However, it is surrounded by such high mountains that we can't just walk out of the map here. But this scene has exactly the same mistakes as the previous one. Mountain Lake, on the mountains we stand in front of a pretty little lake. Suddenly we can't move anymore, only by teleportation we can change our position. Although we have set exactly the opposite in the menu. During a short look around, we immediately notice that the flowers swaying in the wind are not fixed to the ground at all. That's enough - I leave the mountain lake. Deserted Town, in an abandoned small town of American construction, an even worse shadow and light flicker awaits us than we have already experienced in the woods. But the town itself looks so good that I look around a bit. And directly above me I discover a UFO or UAP, which now follows me constantly. Again, we have no interaction options. Fantasyland, Finally we go to Fantasyland, a landscape that looks rather drawn. This is actually nice to look at as well, but unfortunately even more under plopping objects than the local forest. After watching all the scenes extensively, I can understand even less why people want to spend their time here. My conclusion, an informative short review, because it could be quite interesting for hard-core walkers. Here I give a thumbs down because despite beautiful scenes, the program has so many weaknesses that immersion does not arise at all. 👀Walk your dog rather go to my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

 Follow Main group
 Follow Second group

Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/UoVHrJh8Y7c I don't understand how this game is currently rated mostly positive on the Steam store. I know at least one of the nine maps is a complete asset flip (and maybe they all are). Even if only one of them is, however, it's still a subpar VR nature walking simulator type game. The graphics are poor, the gameplay is limited, and the experience is buggy. The whole point of VR walking simulators or nature meditation apps, is for the user to enjoy the visuals. You want to be transported to beautiful or unique worlds that you could not otherwise visit, but through the magic of VR you can be transported there and be immersed in mesmerizing worlds. There are some nice looking spots in this game, but for the most part, this game fails in providing that one with nature, zen-type experience. This game is buggy, you'll clip through several objects. There's several pathing issues. There are several areas of most of the maps where you can see the mesh wasn't set up properly so you can see through the map and sometimes see a completely different looking ground than what you're standing on. Several objects are flat 2D instead of being 3D. Shadows are not rendered properly and will appear and disappear as you approach objects. Most importantly, it's a complete rip-off of Matt Newell's work (Caves Rd Interactive). All the mechanics are exactly the same as in Matt Newell's work, except they are not near the quality of what Caves Rd Interactive has published here on the Steam store. They're not even half as good and Explore Fushimi Inari VR DLC was released back in October of 2019. The difference is night and day. I would suggest anyone interested in this app, instead try out the free Non-VR experiences and just see the difference in visual fidelity. That's the difference between talent & hard-work versus no talent & very little work put into these experiences. ‘VR Walking Simulator’ is pretty much what its title suggests. You get to walk about a few small areas, some of which are better than others. You get woodlands, alien woodlands, a mountain and a post-apocalyptic town. You can teleport around or free move and you even get a camera to take a few images with. It’s all weird, it’s all kind of pointless, but yet…somehow I still managed to find some fun here. I explored, I took a good number of images and I even managed to sink into the scenery. If like myself you are happy to just wobble around a small 3D area exploring it this is the app for you. Those looking for a bit more fun or some actual gameplay will have to look elsewhere.
Sometimes you just want to be in VR without having to fight or solve puzzles, this is perfect for that. I think this is a pretty decent experience for the price, and has a lot of potential to grow. a few bugs here and there but nothing major...locomotion could do with a bit of polish but all in all a good slow paced relaxing time. If you enjoy non gaming VR experiences, pretty much for the price of a beer, its worth checking out Would be cool to get a physical walking mechanic like happy run, could use it for some light exercise then
Amazing concept, and in practise is not too bad. You can walk right up to a tree stump, and you need to be right on it, to see that it's generated. I'm a Bushwalker/Hiker of 40+ years, and the feel of the environment is spot on. Now the downsides are that there's this odd Clunking sound, when your using the control sticks to move in Walking mode. Obviously trying to simulate taking steps. But really annoyingly wrong, and you can't turn it off. The Bush doesn't make a sound other than the occasional twig breaking or rustle etc, when walking on it. The envronment is really small, but not to bad as an experience. UFO's? Really? lol Anyways, keep it up, you're on the right path. Pun intended. ;-)
Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. VR Walking Simulator is a nature exploration experience similar to A Walk in the Woods or Nature Trecks VR. And it's not nearly as good as the latter due to abundance of glitches and overall lack of polish. Alien Forest level is actually quite nice - it has the least amount of noticeable bugs and looks unique. But the rest of the levels are not nearly as good, most of them are similar looking continental European nature scenes with low resolution skyboxes and objects that pop in and out of existence depending on viewing angle. Overall environments in VR Walking simulator are not nearly as beautiful and diverse as Nature Trecks' levels. Visuals are a bit uneven: trees are detailed and rivers look decent, while grass and terrain severely lack polygons even on maximum graphical settings. VR Walking Simulator goes for the realistic visuals but never quite reaches it. As a whole, it looks and performs slightly better then A Walk in The Woods, but this is a very low bar:) Spatial sound is very immersive, except for footsteps sounds that are the same for every surface. P.S. The game works on Reverb G2 just fine.
I don't know why but this game make me feel relaxed just walking without thinking anything. Some animation look weird like grass movement in new meadows scene but I still recommend this game
