Damn, this game got hands.
I opened this game hoping for a grand old time with some Doom or Quake like boomer shooter action, and that is exactly what I got, so needless to say I am very happy. Let me go over my favourite things about this game so far (I am dying in level 4 repeatedly right now): The movement is really nice. Jumping around feels awesome and the jump is high enough to even clear some enemies, and there is just enough air strafe that it doesn't feel ridiculous without forcing you to fully commit to the trajectory of every jump. The enemy animations are really well tailored to tell you *exactly* when an enemy is going to attack. One of the first groups of enemies in the game never even got a shot on me because whenever one of them raised their gun to shoot, I shot them first, locking them in stun. The grenade dudes have distinct animations on their two attacks with enough windup to let you know "hey get out of the way". The visual effects throughout the game are awesome. My favourite example is the screen tilt whenever you strafe, but of course I have to mention the menu. Very colourful and vibrant, and even customizable! Speaking of customizability, there is a lot in the options menu. Consensus: Game good! Play it if you like games where you shoot the bad guys with guns, or slash them with swords if that's more your speed.
Exactly what it says on the tin: Old school fast action shooting with plenty of demons to put down. Great little game for a great little price!
While I have only played a few levels so far, I can say without a doubt that if you are looking for a good, indie shooter this is one for your list! The game play is fast-paced and exciting. Level design is well thought-out and fun to explore. Controls are smooth and sharp, with snappy responses to every button press. The graphics are retro with a new-age flare with lighting and effects. All in all, Virvius reminds me of the original Doom games, and really took me back to my younger years while playing.
Awesome game, really captures that 90's shooter feeling!
This is Quake if Ranger was a giant mechanical crab.
Nice psx/quake sort of shooter, its in development so im looking forward to the final product,i would encourage others to pay the cheap price and support this work.
Beat the first 5 levels so far, pretty solid early access. This game is definitely inspired by the first Quake. Graphics won't be for everyone but they ooze with their own atmosphere. Reminds me of playing some weird 3D 90s commercial. Gunplay feels pretty good, levels are loaded with secrets. I like how the levels feel like 'puzzle rooms' and very video gamey. Sound can be a bit quiet at times but the music is great.
Dieses Game ist ein gut gelungener Quake Klon. Grafisch darf man nicht zu viel erwarten, aber es bringt Spaß und das ist doch die Hauptsache.
This boomershooter is pure noastalgia to Quake. It has a lot the same but also another fine shooter with big levels. The graphics are very rough and maybe not for everyone, but it's good enough. You can adjust the bloom levels and other stuff like environmental lighting. The punch and feeling of weapons and for example the exploding barrels can be better done. There's no map and no save everywhere possibility.
