Game requires to create an account, but account creation is broken. I actually kept the game open so I could rate it and leave a warning.

It's like a mix of first gen Pokemon and Digimon. Taking care of the little monsters is like taking care of a Digimon keychain pet, and the battle system is a turn based system very similar to the first generation of Pokemon games. The creatures evolve into different things based on how you take care of them and feed them. You can even battle them online. It's very nostalgic. I like it. Give it a try, you might like it too.
VirtuaCreature is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam. It's basically an Adobe Flash app. It's a godawful retro pixel hybrid of a Tamagotchi and Pokemon but with significantly worse gameplay and even worse graphics. While some modicum of depth went into the underlying design for this mobile app, little to no effort went into the godawful 2D retro pixel "art". This is a craptastic mobile app competing with free mobile apps like Pokemon Go. I can't possibly recommend this to anyone. Mobile gamers already have better mobile apps to choose from. PC gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend that they're iPhones. Pretending this isn't mobile app store garbage, the obsolete, lazy 2D pixel art is yet another travesty against modern video game graphics capabilities, and is only ever used where developers lack the budget or talent to do the job properly and use contemporary graphics.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer refuses to acknowledge the flaws and defects I highlighted in the review and instead attacks the reviewer for speaking a truth the developer simply doesn't want to accept, the game is objectively bad. For context, I'm not the only one to notice this. With over 120,000,000 gamers on Steam, VirtuaCreature only reached a pitiful 14 player peak, once, at launch, and then immediately dropped to just 1-2 players per day at most... probably the developers. That's a direct, objective statistic that proves this game is regarded as a failure by all. Perhaps it's more successful on mobile, given this is a mobile app. The developer makes the completely incorrect claim that I seek out games I don't like. I never, ever bought or downloaded a game with the intent to write a negative review, all my games are sourced from bundles or automatically added to my library because they are ostensibly free. I simply avoid the bias of only playing and then writing reviews for games I do like. I give every single game that I have reviewed ample evaluation on the merits of that game. And how exactly do my reviews for other games influence the facts that this is a mobile app, of lower than Adobe Flash tier quality, with ugly pixel art?. If I wrote more positive reviews, would the quality of this game somehow improve? Of course not. The developers attempt at attacking this reviewer are simply a weak deflection, an unwillingness to own their failure. I've played well over 6,000 games on Steam, and where a game is of excellent quality, I review it as such and advise other gamers that I recommend it, although many game reviews get withheld because when a game is of excellent quality, it needs more time to make sure the back end of the game is as good as the front. Where a game is too deficient, and this usually becomes apparent very quickly, then I state why gamers should look for something without as many flaws and defects. This isn't rocket science, the developer just wants to pretend they're a victim instead of accepting that their game is objectively of very poor quality. The developer then goes on to bizarrely acknowledge that amateur games (I don't like the term indie as it is just an attempt for amateur developers to not be reminded they're amateurs and couldn't get a real job as a professional game developer) usually lack the same level of quality as professionally developed games. This is clearly true as the dismal failure that VirtuaCreature confirms, as the developer was too lazy or incompetent to do the graphics properly and tried to use pixel "art" to cover up their inadequacy. What am I supposed to do, look at this objectively inferior visual delivery and tell gamers to stop playing Apex Legends for this inadequate mobile app garbage? Of course I cannot do such a thing, it would be irresponsible and as misguided as if I had dropped a crap quality game onto Steam then complained when someone mentions the quality is crap. The developer claims this isn't a mobile, app, yet it's available on app stores. It doesn't matter the order in which a mobile app is published on various platforms, the fact that matters to games is that this is a mobile app and it has all the poor, deficient qualities of mobile apps, and PC gamers will generally agree that buying a 3090ti is something gamers don't do just to play crappy mobile apps. All that matters here is that this is a mobile app, and the developer trying to confuse the issue is yet another attempt to mislead gamers, whatever the developer hopes to gain from that. The developer accuses me of gatekeeping to prevent amateur developers from publishing games. This is insulting and clearly garbage. It's wonderful that anyone can pay $100USD and dump mobile apps and amateur projects onto Steam. I'm going to give every single one of them the chance to prove their value. The amateur developer here then somehow expects me to make the industry into something that would suit them to work in... what arrogance. This is a completely unacceptable insult to thousands of professional game developers who work in the industry making the games that gamers love. I'm offended on their behalf. What this shows is the developer is simply unable or incapable of working in a professional environment, but still expects to be treated like a real, professional developer despite not being anywhere close to as capable. Regardless, reviews are not about developers, no matter how hostile, misleading, arrogant or incompetent they are. Reviews are about the games. Nothing in the developers pointless ignorance in bypassing Valve's guidelines for developers changes any of the objective facts of this poor quality game... it is a mobile app, it has terrible pixel "art" and a laundry list of other deficiencies that makes this impossible to recommend to other gamers. Edit: The developer responds once again, once more attacking the reviewer, but does nothing to address the objective facts about this poor quality game that would somehow make this more recommendable for both gamers that still launch it from time to time. The developers woeful, poor attitude explains the terrible quality of this game, but it does not excuse it. SteamDB does not lie, this is a failed, dead game. 14 player peak, less than 2 players at any given time for months.
I like the game. sometimes it does bug out and you have to exit and come back later but that happens rarely, also account creation isn't broken anymore, I made an account
in its current state it is lacking a lot of the normal conveniences in a game like health bars for one. also you have to guess what to do to start what I am guessing they consider a tutorial. maybe in like two years or even longer at the rate this game gets updated i may try it again until then goodluck devs youll need it. lets just say im not a programmer but could probably figure out how to write this lol
