About
You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. You will explore the city through his eyes as well as those of the Nomad, as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that is threatening undead and mortal society alike.
Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.
Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.

Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

My feelings were somewhat indifferent towards the game but now I completely hate it after the recent updates. Some elements were great like being able to wield a weapon but they cancelled out any positive by locking side quests to particular clans!? The game is already threadbare and they now force you to play as clan X to get some of the extra content- I seriously feel like the developers of this game are completely incompetent. It’s all good locking content to X player type when a game is content rich but this one was already hollow- way to completely screw over the players. Will definitely be avoiding Paradox & Chinese Room games in the future.
I just finished my first playthrough - as a Tremere - and I found the game very enjoyable. The main story was well-crafted with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The main host characters were interesting and multilayered, and the discipline usage felt nice. Now, be aware that this is not a fully open world game - it is a narrative-driven progression with very little in the way of side quests (aside the repeatable ones from clan representatives). For the lore purists: like in Bloodlines, various accomodations and compromises have been made to the rulebook and the game is slightly less varied (though graphically better, of course); it only has one location map (downtown Seattle) and none of the other members of the WOD tenants (Mages, Werewolves, Ghosts) make it in game outside the occasional reference in conversation. Given all the negative reviews I thought this game was a lot less than it turned out to be, but - fair is fair - I did wait for a sizable discount to purchase it. The pull price (at time of writing) is indeed too much for a game this size.
Walking Simulator. Game is good when you dont need to Go from point A to B every 2 minutes
Wow this game is a SLOG. I love the first Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines game and I think it's totally fair to judge this game in comparison to the the first game. I will start with the positives. The music team absolutely nailed the vibe of what I would want to hear in a VTMB game. The visuals are great, and optimization is pretty solid. Now for the BAD. The story just is not interesting. The "side missions" are just "hey go here and kill some guys". Combat is jank and you will constantly lose track of who you're fighting and you will get ganged up on. The city lacks absolutely any form of of visual variety and pair that with the tiny map, you get an extremely boring and tiny hub world. Also why is it ALWAYS snowing? Seattle should be raining or something but it always snowing makes it impossible to get your bearings, especially since all the buildings outside chinatown look the same. This game is, frankly, an embarrassment. The chinese room was NOT the devs to pick for this game but at least they tried their best adding actual melee and gun combat but unfortunately it's lackluster and frustrating and the game overall just isn't that interesting to play. Genuine shame they got rid of Hardsuit and Chris Avellone because I'm sure it would've been leagues better than this.
Oh what could have been! This game is under-baked and soulless. The combat was initially fun but very repetitive with very little enemy variety. Story was passible but completely linear and some of Fabians tasks in particular were rather disrespectful of your time. The side-quests are removing graffiti or carrying packages. The characters were dull and one-note. The atmosphere is utterly non-existent. I think there's a reason why so many screen shots just Phyre in different outfits because there's precious little else to show.
An oddity, but enjoyable. This review will also avoid spoilers, though may need to name some character names to make sense. To start, I would probably full-price this game at about $40. With that said, I still recommend it, but I will include the reasons for my recommended price reduction towards the bottom. My rationale is that I prefer to focus on the positives, and include negatives as constructive criticism, rather than to drag down the entire concept. This game is a lovely romp within the vampire fantasy that includes many well-voiced characters, dialogue/RPG and ending choices, and solidly optimized combat. You receive options for various playstyles, though they do end up feeling somewhat similar, and I rather enjoyed the opportunity to bounce around a streamlined/shrunken Seattle (my home). I have strong words of praise for the voice actors, and want them to know that, despite controversy, I think their work here was excellent. Regarding one of the most criticized concepts - the difference between Bloodlines 1 and 2. This game is NOT the original masquerade game. It's certainly an RPG, though also includes some PI/Detective elements (that is not the primary purpose, but you are involved often enough that it warrants mentioning). I, personally, rather enjoyed Fabian's performance. He was a lovely bit of humor, wit, and human connection throughout the game. I understand the criticism - the game is somewhat "less serious" for his involvement, but I rather enjoyed the whole package. My favorite character, by far, was Tolly. Meeting him whilst he trash-talks a series of enemies is a riot, and the rather constant clever and witty monologuing was exceptional. Well done. General short-form review and critiques: Overall, the music score was okay, the voice acting was great, the combat was marginally above average, and the main story pacing was good. I felt that the side quests were a bit weak and repetitive, and the need to (very mildly compared to other games) grind for skills could have really used some variety. I'd give the game a solid 7/10 at $40 or below, but a 6 or so at $60+. If you'd like a 20-30 hour enjoyable RPG that plays as a bit of an FPS, with fantastic voice work, some alright decision-making, solid optimization, and a more-serious (I know, hold on) vampire fantasy, give this a go at $40 or below. It offers some great drama, but doesn't take itself TOO seriously, and I had a wonderful time. To the devs: 1. Positive feedback (followed by critique) -Combat was smooth and fun; abilities had good differences. -The variety of climbable objects and traversal abilities offered some genuinely different playstyles -Your writers and voice actors did phenomenal work -The outfits were fantastic and quite enjoyable to tinker with -Seattle was a great time to trounce around 2 - Constructive, direct critque -Side quests needed work and variety -Combat could get mildly stale, even if it was enjoyable -It was really hard to tell how much interactions would affect the final outcome -Side quests and skill unlocks were a chore and repetitive. Consider putting similar writing from the main story into these, as I was pretty over them towards the end. -The game isn't a collectathon, but you feel obligated when you think you might miss out on story and worldbuilding at the pace of the main story. Then it becomes annoying to players who don't enjoy. Overall, I liked the game quite a bit, but certainly have some reserves. I've mentioned it a few times, but will finish with it again. Solid buy at $40 or under. I'd hesitate above that.
Honestly just a bad game, the sections as the secondary character are needlessly long as you have to run around (or fast travel around) the city just to talk to people and sometimes the talking to people involves having to to select the correct dialogue options and if you pick the wrong one you have to start the whole conversation again. I was just getting through this to play the main characters game but the dungeon before the second boss and the second boss themselves is truly awful. You fight in two arenas against small waves of enemies who do basically no damage and you one shot them and you don't have your powers (which is what makes the combat fun, not that fighting these weak enemies could ever be fun) then you fight the boss who is also just way to easy in phase one. Then you do another short arena against the week enemies. Then phase two of the boss they dodge everything else you block and then it seems you can damage them for a bit but honestly it seemed very inconsistent in how to stop them dodging and I just gave up as the game just isn't that good even when you do have your powers. I'm aware there is some controversy regarding if the game should truly by a bloodlines game, I'm not really in the know about all that but I did enjoy the original game and quite frankly that's the least of the games concerns.
this game is pretty good when you don't have someone, who's only exposure to vtm is the original bloodlines, in your ear telling you this is the worst game ever
