The devs shifted toward the shmup genre and delivered one of the best out there! Hard mode 'Great Horned One' will be a pain in the ass as usual, but I feel it's a bit easier than OG Valfaris. Incredible follow-up to og Valfaris, I love it.
Fantastic follow-up to Valfaris, shoot'em-up now. You only have one ranged weapon and one melee weapon (instead of two ranged weapons in Valfaris) but you now have auxilliary weapon and modules to enhance your damage, and only three "lives" during normal playthrough, so be careful! Otherwise most of ranged weapons are well-known friends from Valfaris (flamethrower, bringer of mayhem, shotgun, etc). My recommendation is to go for Therion' Fist as melee, shotgun as ranged and green blob as auxilliary weapon, this will help you greatly with final boss. Excellent metal music is here again, so go for the metal!
Valfaris: Mecha Therion is the sequel to Valfaris and I will start saying that, if you liked the first one, there is not guarantee that you will like this one (the other way around also applies; if you didn't like the first one, you might still like this one). And I want to clarify that because I didn't like the first one at all (besides the visuals and the music), but I had a HUGE amount of fun with this one. Anyways, Valfaris: Mecha Therion is a straightforward, challenging and fast-paced shoot 'em up, with a little bit of hack and slash, where you go linearly shooting and killing, but you need to reload your ranged weapon by hitting the enemies with your melee weapon. Game is fairly short (I could beat it in 4 hours) and it's just a whole lot of fun during those 4 hours (except with a double boss fight that's really annoying). To keep things fresh, throughout the game, you can find different guns, melee weapons and skills to be switching and adding some variations to your gameplay depending on your taste (some of them come straight after a boss fight, some of them are secrets to find). It counts with 9 levels, which should take you around 20-30 minutes to complete each; each one of them with at least one boss fight (some of them having 3), getting more challenging and enjoyable over time (except by that double boss fight that I hated). The main highlight being the final boss. Just incredible. Final aspect to highlight, music and graphics are badass. If you liked that about the first one, you will definitely love it here. If you are into metal, you will be headbanging through the whole gameplay, while also getting delighted by the incredibly detailed pixel art. The only bad aspect of the game (in my opinion), besides that double boss fight, is that, if you miss a secret, you need to replay the level immediately if you want to go for all secrets. Otherwise you will have to replay the whole game again (it matters only if you like to go for 100%). Anyways, completely recommended if you like straightforward 2D action, just don't let your opinion about the prequel determine if you should get this game or not. I would rate this with 9/10.
Old school shoot em up.
its good . for a casual play it's hard enough compared to the OG . only 1 bad thing is no cloud save
A third of my time in the game was on the final boss. Don't care. Awesome game. Highly recommended!
Feels like pizza parlor arcade! Take my quarters. Loads of fun.
dude just buy it
