I really liked this game a lot! As a rogue lite shooter, I'd say it does things very well! At first I wasn't so sure how to use the upgrade page and how to swap things out but after playing for a sec I picked it up fast. I really like how you can upgrade all of your passives (A MUST) (I made my MG shoot faster, have better cooling, more health and the Power Suit) and they really do help in the long run. The bosses are very well put together and aren't too hard to learn to defeat, the only boss I didn't like was the very first boss(didn't care for how he worked) but the rest were very interesting and diverse. I really like as well how the last boss we designed as well but I won't spoil anything. If you're looking for a great shooter with some good hours to put into it then this is the game for you! There is also a New Game Plus mode that I'm going to try next so we shall see what that holds! Do you hear the them? LET THEM COME!!!
Great game, but if you make a mistake, it’s really easy to get softlocked, which beats the purpose of the game, and that is to die repeatedly. Softlocks happen in such a dumb way that it’s impossible to guess beforehand. If this wasn’t the case, I would recommend this game.
A bit boring and very easily softlocks you if you play ``wrong`` Only allows for one type of play even though it boasts having upgrades and modifiers
70cts too expensive. I bought it for $1.70, and even at that price it is too expensive considering how limited it is. With an initial price of $8.50, those devs must really believe in themselves.
Let Them Come is a compact but remarkably intense action shooter developed by Tuatara Games and published by Versus Evil and tinyBuild. Built around a deceptively simple premise, the game places players in the boots of a lone space soldier tasked with surviving relentless waves of alien creatures charging through a narrow corridor. While many modern shooters focus on sprawling environments, cinematic storytelling, or multiplayer features, Let Them Come strips the genre down to its essentials and delivers a focused experience centered on survival, precision, and overwhelming firepower. The game's core concept is straightforward: hold your position and eliminate every threat before it reaches you. What initially appears to be a repetitive setup quickly reveals surprising depth. Different enemy types emerge throughout the campaign, each demanding a unique response. Some rush directly toward the player, others possess greater durability, and certain enemies can disrupt carefully planned strategies if not dealt with immediately. This constant escalation keeps encounters exciting and prevents the gameplay from becoming stagnant despite the limited battlefield. A major strength of Let Them Come is its progression system. Players gradually unlock an assortment of weapons, ammunition modifications, and tactical upgrades that significantly influence combat performance. The customization options encourage experimentation, allowing players to tailor their loadouts to match personal playstyles. Whether focusing on devastating stopping power, improved crowd control, or specialized ammunition capable of handling tougher opponents, every upgrade contributes meaningfully to the sense of progression. Unlocking new equipment feels rewarding because the challenges scale alongside the player's arsenal. The game's presentation effectively captures the atmosphere of classic science-fiction horror. Its pixel-art visuals are detailed and expressive, creating an environment that feels both retro and modern. The dark corridors, flashing muzzle bursts, and grotesque alien designs combine to establish a sense of constant danger. The lighting effects deserve particular praise, as they add dramatic tension to firefights while enhancing the overall visual appeal. Despite operating within a relatively simple framework, the game succeeds in creating a memorable and immersive setting. Sound design is another highlight. The heavy rock soundtrack injects energy into every battle and perfectly complements the game's frantic pace. Every weapon feels powerful thanks to punchy audio effects, while the alien creatures produce unsettling sounds that reinforce the atmosphere. The inclusion of collectible mixtapes and additional music tracks adds a layer of personality that distinguishes the game from many other indie shooters. The soundtrack rarely fades into the background and instead becomes an active contributor to the adrenaline-fueled experience. Boss encounters serve as some of the game's most memorable moments. These larger enemies break up the standard wave-based action and force players to adapt their tactics under pressure. Success requires efficient resource management, precise shooting, and a solid understanding of weapon capabilities. The bosses provide satisfying difficulty spikes that test the player's mastery of the mechanics while delivering a strong sense of accomplishment upon victory. Replay value is enhanced through score-chasing mechanics and competitive leaderboards. Since performance depends heavily on skill, weapon selection, and tactical efficiency, players are encouraged to revisit levels and improve their results. The relatively short play sessions make it easy to jump back into the action, creating an addictive loop that rewards persistence and mastery. Fans of arcade-style games will likely appreciate the constant pursuit of higher scores and more efficient runs. The game is not without shortcomings. Its commitment to a single defensive gameplay structure means variety can be limited over extended periods. Players seeking exploration, extensive storytelling, or diverse mission objectives may find the experience somewhat repetitive. Additionally, the increasing difficulty can occasionally feel unforgiving, particularly for newcomers unfamiliar with arcade-inspired challenge design. However, these limitations stem largely from the game's focused vision rather than poor execution. Ultimately, Let Them Come succeeds by embracing simplicity and executing its core ideas exceptionally well. It delivers satisfying shooting mechanics, meaningful progression, engaging enemy variety, and an energetic audiovisual presentation that consistently keeps players invested. While it may not offer the breadth of larger action titles, it excels at providing concentrated bursts of intense gameplay that reward skill and perseverance. For fans of retro-inspired shooters, survival challenges, and score-driven action, it stands as an entertaining and highly polished indie experience. Rating: 8/10
