Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Utawarerumono: ZAN 2 — A Spectacular 3D Rebirth
TL;DR: ZAN 2 successfully evolves the franchise by merging the deep, emotional narrative of "Mask of Truth" with greatly refined, high-octane Musou-style combat, robust base-building, and fully animated 3D cutscenes that bring the world to life like never before.
[1] Intro :
Stepping away from the traditional visual novel presentation, Utawarerumono: ZAN 2 takes the climactic final chapters of the saga and injects them with dynamic energy. It completely abandons the static "paper doll" dialogue scenes of its predecessors in favor of fully animated 3D cutscenes, giving pivotal story moments the cinematic weight they deserve. It is a bold reimagining that manages to honor its rich source material while providing an action-packed, modern gameplay experience that immediately hooks you.
[2] Game Experience :
World & Systems: The gameplay loop is vastly superior to the first ZAN, offering a highly engaging mix of fast-paced hack-and-slash combat and intricate RPG progression. With over 50 story missions, the combat feels punchy, allowing you to seamlessly mix flashy techniques and equip powerful, gameplay-altering items. Outside of combat, the newly introduced base system at Oshtor's estate in Ennakamuy serves as a fantastic hub. Here, you can spend points earned in battle to upgrade the estate's functionality, giving a tangible sense of growth to your rebellion. The addition of the new Skill Board system further deepens the character customization, ensuring your roster feels entirely your own. Story Shape (light spoilers): Adapting the beloved narrative of "Mask of Truth", the game drops you into a tense, escalating conflict as you gather allies to reclaim what was lost. The pacing is excellently handled, moving from quiet moments of strategic planning at your estate to massive, sprawling battles. Fans of the original will be thrilled to find brand new, fully-voiced scenes exclusive to ZAN 2, expanding upon the existing lore without feeling like unnecessary filler. Characters: With a massive roster of over 20 playable characters, the variety in combat styles is staggering. From heavy-hitting brawlers to nimble spellcasters, each unit feels distinct. What truly makes the cast shine, however, is the downtime at Ennakamuy. Interacting with your companions between missions deepens their emotional arcs and makes the inevitable sacrifices and triumphs on the battlefield hit that much harder. Pros:

The transition to 3D animated cutscenes dramatically elevates the storytelling and emotional impact.
The Ennakamuy base system and Skill Boards add incredibly satisfying layers of progression and downtime activities.
The "Dream Arena" mode offers fantastic replayability, bringing challenging online co-op and single-player maps that test your mastery of the combat.
Cons:

The overarching narrative heavily relies on prior knowledge of "Mask of Deception" and "Mask of Truth", making it a tough entry point for complete newcomers.
While the combat is flashy, the inherent nature of Musou-style action can occasionally feel repetitive during marathon gaming sessions.

[3] Final Thoughts :
Utawarerumono: ZAN 2 is a magnificent love letter to longtime fans and a robust action RPG in its own right. By marrying the franchise's stellar world-building with engaging, refined hack-and-slash mechanics, it delivers a deeply satisfying conclusion to a legendary saga. If you are invested in these characters, experiencing their final battles in fully animated 3D glory is an absolute must.
[4] Side Note :
Enjoy more games like this? ARPG Hack n Slash + good graphics + co-op = Dynasty Warriors format with great anime story. 20+ characters, 50+ missions. More of the good stuff. Check out their other games in the series.
A wonderful iteration of the final and best Utawarerumono game in the trilogy. Like Zan 1, Zan 2 tells a shortened, summarized story of the Mask of Truth but changed the gameplay from a tactic RPG to an Action RPG that is akin to the musou series but with less enemies on screen that are way more aggressive and pose much more of a threat to the player. Zan 2 is an elevation from Zan 1 in every way. Graphically it is more beautiful. The story that its tells, though concise, is more involved and true to the original. The side story that it offers also gives light hearted exploration of the other characters that are quite entertaining to sit through as well. Then there is challenge. Zan 2 introduces expeditions, tiger dens and dream arenas as end game contents for players that have finished the main story to continuously grind for the best build and completion. All the characters are also crafted and unique. Even those that uses the same weapons or are supposed to be clones of one another have their own unique and distinct playstyle that makes all of them possess their own strength and weaknesses. There are varieties of boss fights, previous characters, all with different moves and mechanics, requiring different approaches rather than to just button mashes as one would expect from a musou type game. Paired this with a highly enjoyable gameplay and this game is a package that is so great that it should be played even if the player have experienced this story before. Highly recommended. This is a great game.
