Good concept with bad graphics and bugs
This game is a complete joke. Played North Korea, funded Communist insurgency in Peru and got impeached by my parliament all within 2 weeks. This is by far the most broken and unfun strategy games out there.
Rulers of Nations, developed and published by Eversim, is an ambitious grand strategy game that puts players in control of a country’s political, economic, and military destiny. It offers a sprawling simulation where you can choose from over 170 nations to govern, making decisions that span from domestic policies to international diplomacy. The game aims to provide a deep and realistic geopolitical experience, allowing players to navigate the complex web of global relationships, balance internal affairs, and respond to crises both within and beyond their borders. This level of detail is designed to appeal to fans of strategy and simulation who crave a multifaceted and immersive world leadership challenge. At its core, Rulers of Nations is defined by the sheer scope of its gameplay options. Players have access to more than a thousand distinct actions, ranging from economic reforms and military mobilization to covert operations like espionage and propaganda campaigns. The game’s interface centers around a detailed, real-time 3D world map filled with a variety of units, including military forces, infrastructure, and industrial complexes, all contributing to the complex interplay of global power dynamics. This level of granularity enables players to craft tailored strategies, whether focusing on economic growth, military dominance, or diplomatic influence. Furthermore, the game features over six hours of voiced dialogue delivered by 3D animated characters, adding a layer of narrative immersion and making interactions feel more personal and engaging. One of the strengths of Rulers of Nations lies in its flexibility and replayability. Beyond the standard game modes, it offers a Simulation Mode where players can engage in historical or hypothetical scenarios, allowing for a wide range of strategic challenges. The multiplayer Competition Mode supports up to sixteen players, opening up opportunities for diplomacy, alliances, and rivalries in a more dynamic environment. Moreover, the inclusion of a comprehensive modding tool has cultivated a community-driven ecosystem where players can create and share custom content, expanding the game’s lifespan and diversity of experiences. This emphasis on customization helps cater to both casual players and dedicated strategy enthusiasts looking for fresh challenges. However, the game’s ambitious design is somewhat hampered by technical issues and uneven execution. Players have reported frequent bugs and crashes that can disrupt the flow of gameplay and lead to frustration. These stability problems, coupled with a sometimes cluttered user interface, have detracted from the overall experience for many users. Critical and player reviews reflect this mixed reception, noting that while the game’s concept and depth are impressive, its polish and performance fall short of expectations. Additionally, some in the community have voiced concerns about Eversim’s development approach, pointing out that the company’s iterative releases sometimes feel more like minor updates rather than fully realized improvements, which has led to skepticism and dissatisfaction among the player base. From a technical standpoint, Rulers of Nations is relatively accessible, running on modest hardware requirements that allow a broad range of players to experience its content. It supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, which helps it reach an international audience. Despite its flaws, the game’s rich simulation environment and expansive feature set make it a unique entry in the geopolitical strategy genre. For those willing to navigate its quirks and technical limitations, Rulers of Nations offers a deeply strategic and thought-provoking experience that challenges players to think like real-world leaders balancing competing priorities on the global stage. Overall, Rulers of Nations stands as a testament to the complexity and intrigue of geopolitical simulation games. It delivers an extensive toolkit for players to craft their own narratives of power, diplomacy, and conflict, wrapped in a detailed and visually engaging presentation. While it may not yet reach the level of polish expected by some, its depth, scope, and customization potential ensure it holds a special place for fans of strategy and governance simulations. Prospective players should weigh its ambitious design against its technical shortcomings, but those invested in the genre will likely find plenty to explore and master within its intricate systems. Rating: 5/10
It looks crappy
