Adventure games don't get much better than this. Highly recommended!
art style is gorgeous but the plot so far is just meh. far too many unfunny quips and extremely flat characters. the "puzzles" are just a bunch of incredibly tedious fetch quests, and the story isn't engaging enough to make me feel like slogging through them for any longer. I only got to triangulating the signal and I don't think I'll be playing any further.
I loved the story, the characters, and animation style of this game and I would love another game with a continuation of the main characters on another adventure or investigation. The voice acting was also really above par. I find myself wishing I was playing this while playing less immersive point and clicks. My only note would be that it is frustrating that you can't (or at least i couldn't figure out how to) pause the game while it's in the middle of a dialogue tree or an npc character speech. This meant that if I got suddenly pulled away from my computer or distracted for a moment there was no easy pause and I would miss the conversation or speech, and was unable to replay it unless I wanted to start the entire game chapter all over again, which I of course did not. While this didn't make or break any gameplay, as someone who was enjoying the actual story plot it was a little frustrating.
The art style, the voice acting, the puzzles. I bought this years ago and still play it with some frequency—it's excellent and holds up.
The first level is abhorrent, ad after that, Unforeseen Incidents keeps committing the worst mistakes a Point and Click game can have: -A constant coming-and-going to faraway locations, simply in the spirit of collecting something that was uncollectable before. -No journal! No dialogue log! So good luck remembering what you're looking for if you had to interrupt your session. -There's other characters but they offer absolutely no feedback on how to progress. Also, no hints! So you may know the answer and how to progress, but good luck doing it in exactly the way and order the game requires it. -Obtuse puzzles where items collected may not all be relevant! This game also adds a "multi-tool" which sounds like a great idea until you realize it's so clunky is almost unusable. Thankfully, you use it only five times in the game. There's also a weird hacking minigame between sections? It never has any context, the MC is a handyman not a hacker, but, yeah, at least it's fun. If you can overcome all these common sins from another era, you may actually enjoy a nice story about fighting big corporations before cellphones were invented. Which I liked, but... I dunno, wouldn't play it again, so... Mixed?
I really enjoyed this game. The art style immediately grabbed me with its distinctive vibe all the way through. Great characters and a genuinely interesting plot. I thought the multi-tool could have been utilised more, especially since it was such a good idea for gameplay and the ending sequence felt a little rushed, but overall a very well crafted and executed game. Recommended!
If you like old-style point-and-click style adventure games, this is a great one! Good story and characters and great art. The puzzles are challenging but not too opaque for the most part. I got stuck sometimes, but usually in the good way that was fun when I figured it out. There were only one or two places that I thought were unclear solutions, which I had to look up. Lots of humor and fun to play. The story has chapters and play is in different settings each chapter, so you don't get tired of walking around the same old place. Highly recommend!
Played this a good few years ago but remember really enjoying it. Some of the puzzles or finding things were a little tricky but loved the story, voice acting and visual style. Have to do a replay sometime
