About
Underrail is an old-school turn-based isometric indie role-playing game that focuses on exploration and combat.
The game is set in a distant future, when life on the Earth’s surface has long since been made impossible and the remnants of humanity now dwell in the Underrail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.
The player takes control of one of the denizens of such a station-state whose life is about to become all that much more interesting and dangerous, as our protagonist is caught amidst the conflicting factions of the Underrail as they violently struggle to survive in the harsh underground environment.
The game's turn-based combat features many different weapon types - pistols, rifles, crossbows, energy weapons, sledgehammers, knives and more, each with their own advantages and drawbacks.
The player is also able to learn powerful psionic abilities from one of the three psionic schools:
Metathermics - Burn your enemies alive or freeze them to death.
Psychokinesis - Use the power of telekinesis for offensive or defensive purposes or electrocute your foes.
Thought Control - Assault the minds of your enemies by overloading them, instilling overwhelming fear, creating deadly hallucinations and more.
For those looking to avoid direct confrontation, the game offers a set of subterfuge skills. Move around the world in stealth like a shadow, lockpicking doors and hacking computers. If people have something you want, you can often just pickpocket them. But if it does come to blows, you can use devious traps to stack the odds in your favour.
Underrail features an elaborate item crafting system. A vast majority of the armor, weapons and some other items encountered in the game can be crafted, and some are exclusively acquired through it. Crafted equipment tends to be superior to that which is scavenged or purchased in terms of raw numbers, provided you are investing in your crafting skills.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

I put on some good armor that lowered my stealth without me realizing and then got repeatedly shanked to death by random muggers. Like the actual name on the health bars was "Mugger." 10/10 slav-coded and clearly made with love
Доминируй или поплачь, что игра сложная, трубочист!
Once you get past the steep learning curve - the game is excellent. seems clonky - but you get used to it as you progress. Runs well on linux

It’s the kind of CRPG whose fans are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that’s how you know it’s pretty good.
Played this game since its suggested by BOTH Splattercat and Mortismal Gaming. Its brutal, unforgiving, and if you're a masochist gamer like me, then Underrail is perfect for you. Took me 300 hours+ and two playthroughs to get the 100%. And I think my eyesight got worse from all that running around in the pitch black dark caverns. 10/10 will play again after I get a new pair of glasses.
I thought about restarting this game like thrice to put the game on Easy or even quitting all together when I arrived on Depot-A. Then I realized this game has too many tools for you to play around with, I arrived at Depot-A with literally only: Guns and Medical Supplies. Needless to say I got wrecked over and over and over, until I remembered Bear Traps, Landmines and Grenades are a thing, and boy, they make your life so much easier if you can play around them, I eventually also upgraded my armor and gun by doing side quests and stuff and it also made Depot-A a bit easier. I've now finished that session of the game and found the Drill Circuit Board and man, it's been fun lol. I guess I'm going into a "second act" of the game since I got a big cutscene after this whole quest and I'm pumped to keep going, if I hit another roadblock, I'll figure a way around it with the tools the game throw at you.
Одна из лучших РПГ что я когда либо играл. Тебе дают полную свободу действий. Что то близкое было только в первых частях фоллаута или Аркануме.
guys this isnt undertale...
I thought I'd enjoy this but not to the extent I did. It plays like an older game compared to more recent cRPGs, but it isn't any less fun for that. I know it has a reputation for being difficult, and maybe it is when you play on Dominating difficulty, but in general I didn't find it too bad. You have to accept that death, quicksave and quickload are all part of the gameplay. Throwing yourself in to a fight that you can't win, learning how you can change that and then achieving victory is a satisfying playstyle to some, myself included, but that means it won't be for everyone. Add to that the importance of specialisation and some will hate it, understandably. The biggest strength is absolutely the world-building in my opinion. Underrail is a world that is worth exploring and immersing yourself in.
i survived Deep Cavern and should do you. 10/10.
