UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.

UBOAT is a promising and often enjoyable game, but the latest DLC/update has made it very hard for me to recommend in its current state. Since the update, I have repeatedly run into a serious bug where I cannot properly access the resupply menu or new Flotilla HQ. This has happened twice already, and it effectively breaks the game. If you cannot resupply, drop off surviors, exchange personnel, or use essential base functions, the game becomes unplayable. I know there have already been some 20 patches, but this issue still occurs for me. I also preferred the previous interface. It was quicker, cleaner, and simpler. The new one may be intended to add depth, but in practice it feels slower and less convenient, especially when it blocks core campaign functions. Beyond the technical issues, I think UBOAT needs more depth in its existing world before more paid content is added. The war often feels too centered around the player’s boat rather than like a larger conflict happening around you. There is little meaningful German surface or air traffic (no german planes can be found anywhere), no Italian presence in the Med, and Penang feels strange because there is no real Japanese presence there either. Japanese units exist only in a rare Atlantic mission involving a japanese Submarine, which makes their absence in Southeast Asia rather strange. The Indian Ocean theatre should feel different from the Atlantic, but right now it feels too similar in gameplay and atmosphere. The game also needs more ship variety, more regional differences, and more lively detail. Even the boat interiors could be more detailed and lived-in without hurting readability. UBOAT has a strong foundation, and I deeply respect that it is made by a very small team. But before more DLC is released, I would rather see the devs focus on stability, polish, and making the existing world feel deeper and more alive.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Amazing sub game, the simulator is very flexible and lets you customize your level of play however you want, and I mean any level. You can play the game with ai assistance and have the computer line up the shots while you drive or take your double dose of victory meth, break out the protractor tools, stop watch, and do all the math your self. Run around the submarine in first person, pull random levers over the sub, you just made the sub bottom out and launched all the torpodoes, did you not shower? Good you are just role playing a proud and efficient kriegsmariner. Lose your self in your insane Das Boot dreamworld, suddenly you have 200 hours, a custom 1930s german submariner soundtrack and your youtube feed is all related to the call of the sea. My fantasy consumed me after a terrible encounter with a convoy off the coast of Ireland. We had encountered a large group with a modest number of escorts. No problem for our veteran crew, we got in front of the convoy and lay silent beneath the waves infiltrating the middle of the formation as we had so many times before. The crew spotted the prize of the formation, a pair of tankers, we lined up the shots and the crew spoke in whispers as the torpedo tubes filled with water. We fire and dive for as deep as we can go before they even hit their target to make our escape. The radio operator reports the explosions as the crew silently celebrates. Another contact, enemy destroyer moving towards us, did he hear us as we limped away or just blind chance? Then the most horrid sound, sonar pinging right above and then the reports of depth charges entering the water. No problem, a few quick maneuvers and we can dodge these pathetic attempts to stop us. Our crew has survived depth charge attacks before. Alas I zigged when I should have zagged and the boat took a direct hit. Water and screams are everywhere compartments go dark as we hurdle to the bottom of the sea explosions all around us. Our saving grace is we were off the coast. We bottom out in 200m of water, we frantically plug the leaks and try and play dead. The next 10 minutes were nothing but explosions as we huddled in the darkness and water. Finally the charges stopped. We were not sure if the enemy thought us dead or had run out of charges all together. We found the will to try and make repairs once again and began the slow process of putting the sub back together. A week later we managed to reach home. After a long rest and vacation it was time to hit the seas again, I was anxious now though the fun was gone and it was replaced with fear of being so helpless again. We found a convoy and I began the preparations to start our attack. Then I closed the game, I completely lost my nerve not gonna lie the thought of having to go back down there in that nightmare can straight up made my uboat self close the game in a PTSD induced episode. would become a drunken troubled sailor who stares out at the sea again/10 kinda game right here
I don't even know where to start. This game delivers what I wanted from the Silent Hunter series way back when. What I would imagine being able to do with Silent Hunter, this game actually does. The realism, the graphics, the crew management, the boat maintenance. It all fits together very nicely and creates the most immersive simulation game I've ever played. This is a patrol I had- Got depth charged and sunk to the shallow bottom of the English Channel, going completely silent to throw off pursuers, having a squad of sailors wear rebreathers to fix the leak and eventually pump enough water out to regain buoyancy, surface just in time escape suffocation- Most of the crew survives to see another patrol. That is a tense experience only this game can offer. If you're fan of Das Boot, you're going to love this game. if you are a fan of WWII naval history, you're going to love this game.
I came back to this game after a year or so and it's a buggy mess. Such a shame, it was so good.
Game is fun but very buggy, incomplete, etc. and while mods fix many things they also make it way more unstable. Read my review for the Distant Coasts DLC if you want serious details. Not playing again until major issues and oversights get resolved, especially for the Type IX. Gonna be mostly playing modded SH3 and SH4 until that happens.
