Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 16 → 5.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Rome 1's fundamentals and idea's were brought to life by truly the most inspiring and ambitious devs back in the day, still blows its successor out of the water in these area's. And Rome Remastered is the best way to experience or re-live it again. Strenghts: - Battle Maps align with the Campaing map, even pawns, fleets, world wonders and constructions/upgrades that took place in the campaign map are visible during battle. Bringing in immersion and sometimes tactical advantages/challenges. - Unit cohesion is still the best in the series, there is weight in every unit and they orderly fill in gaps like true Roman disciplined soldiers. - Soundtrack Weaknesses: - Historians will critique the otherwise addictive gameplay/presentation based on historic inaccuracies, totally fixable with mods though. - Still dated graphics compared to newer entries. - Missing some quality of life unit managment on the battlefield compared to newer entries.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Rome was my first and will always be my favourite of the Total Wars. I like the freedom to build anything in any city that you don't get in the later games. I like the rock-paper-scissors system to the unit types. It is a game I can unwind to. It's challenging while not being stressful. It has the perfect balance of wins and losses to make me feel pushed but not overwhelmed. I love it and will always keep coming back to it. Remastered has just improved the graphics and the AI and added Merchants to make gathering income faster, but it is still the game I adore at its core.
Runs great on Linux
I didn't buy this game for years because of all of the complaints about the UI. I didn't think better graphics would be enough to make the game worth it, especially at full price. However, when it went on sale for $6, I finally picked it up. After the first couple of hours hating the UI, I realized I was entirely addicted to the game and couldn't stop playing it. Here is a summary of what I liked and disliked about it. I'm assuming here that you've played the original Rome: Total War: Liked: - More panels with information/more detailed information At the start of your turn, your recruitment/construction reports now show if the city has another unit or building queued up. Unfortunately, the report disappears if you load a save, so make sure you always look through your report before exiting the game. - Better graphics - Same music and voice lines (except for merchant, which is new) - Reminder/alert if in the last three turns you haven't moved a unit or your city hasn't built something - Receive a copy of the original Rome: Total War and Alexander (the expansion) if you don't already have it. If you hate the UI but like the bones of the game, give the original a try! - Runs much more smoothly than the original. Menus pop up instantly and are very responsive, but loading screens on my SSD take as long as the original game. - There used to be a limit on how many turns' worth of moves you could send a character or army. Now, it seems to be unlimited, so you can send your army clear across the map if you want. This was one of my favorite additions/fixes! - New menu that allows you to sort your cities or characters by various filters - Bunch of QoL features and information Disliked: - UI is annoying and took a while to get used to - Army AI pathing in battles seems a little weird at times - The UI to move followers between people is a real pain, BUT you can move between anyone, even if they aren't in the same city (takes a few turns for the follower to travel if the people they are following are far apart) - A few random bugs. Some were serious than others. Serious bugs included an army that was stuck floating on the water like Jesus, except it couldn't move (or attack or be attacked). Another bug happened when I combined two fleets, and the army loaded onto one of the fleets vanished entirely. Another time, I disbanded a merchant but was never able to replace him because the city still thought he existed. Saving frequently is highly recommended just in case you run into anything game-breaking. - Multiple freezes and several outright crashes. There is one fairly reliable crash that involves telling a merchant to go somewhere if you have selected him from the Character screen. Don't do that. It's better to select him, close the Character screen, and then tell him to go where you want him to go. Of course, if you need to do that 10 times in a row to 10 different merchants, that's really annoying, but at least the game won't crash that way. Please save often! Treat it like Skyrim. :) - At least one achievement is bugged and impossible to get on the current version of the game. The only way to get it is to roll back to an earlier version. Thank you for your guide, CeDan3! Overall, I am very happy with the game and glad I finally got it. The UI is kind of annoying, but they've made it better since the original reviews were made. There are so many QoL changes that alone make it worth getting, and the new graphics + more stable client make it an absolute steal at $6.
