Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artifact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style she runs, jumps, swims and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers - leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun-cartridges in her wake.

Please do not play the Steam standard version. It runs via DOSBox, has no Controller Support, poor graphics, etc. I tried three different enhanced versions and played through the game with each Version OpenLara , LostArtefacts/TRX , and CroftEngine Overall LostArtefacts/TRX is the best. CroftEngine has the best graphics, but is less accurate. OpenLara is very buggy; enemies get stuck in the level architecture. I cannot recommend it. So its TRX for me but Croft Engine is also good. Download the TRX installer, select your Steam directory—and that's it. It's super simple. The controller works immediately, right out of the box. As for the game itself: For me, it remains the best *Tomb Raider*—even better than the new trilogy. That feeling of going on a treasure hunt through ancient catacombs, where not a soul has set foot for centuries, is unmatched and has never been recaptured since then.
I wish Lara would raid my tomb
I don't have nostalgia eyes, I never played this at release although I am old enough to. I was 9 when it came out (I'll let you do the math). Remapping ctrls is essential, wasd for direction, f for holster, i for inventory, g for look, and p for action was enough for me. Movement and gameplay is clunky, but once you've gotten the hang of it, its just another puzzle to be solved. Game is dripping with atmosphere, combat is disappointing. The game is mentally draining, with spiky hits of dopamine instead of the slow drip of something like Skyrim. Being what it is, I'm finding it immensely rewarding making my through all the mazes and puzzles. It's a refreshing palate cleanser in an age of western value ridden AAA slop. PC version has an unlimited save system, make use of this !!
If you're like me and not interested in installing yet another source port that may or may not be faithful to the vanilla game, I recommend using "Tomb Raider Automated Fix" This will patch up the game to run natively in windows, restore music and other things from the playstation version and add the Unfinished Business expansion, all in situ so it still just runs from the original steam installation directory and boots from steam with a nice clean launcher too. You can use steam input to easily map the game's controls to your gamepad. An excellent way to play TR1.
Reseña de Tomb Raider I (1996)

Her breasts defined the usage of women in the end of the 20th century. 10/10 game.
Very challenging and entertaining!! A must play for people who like third-person action games.
.
nah. too old.. graphics are really bad.. and the controls are horrid. cant even use the mouse!!
Classic game but controls very poorly on keyboard and runs very poorly on pc. Very few of the classic tomb raiders titles hold up especially with keyboard input and I'd fully recommend the remastered trilogy for the early games.
